When I need to take the macbook pro with me, I usually turn it off, remove the power output and all the usb cables from it. So later when then I turn it on, the screen is a little bit enlarged and doesn't go back to normal size - or at least I don't know how to make it go back to the normal display. And the zoom is not turned on - already checked it a couple times.

Whenever I try to upload files to my FTP site (via my standard FiOS wireless internet connection), my Apple bluetooth keyboard disconnects. My Apple Magic Mouse also behaves strangely (jumpy, but also disconnects sometimes). Both devices reconnect when the file transfer is complete. This happens both when I transfer files via the web browser OR using Fetch. What the heck? I'm having a hard time troubleshooting this issue or finding anything online about it, but the bluetooth disconnect and file transfer are definitely related, because my devices don't disconnect any other time, unless the batteries are low.Â
I want to reiterate: I am NOT trying to transfer files via bluetooth. The files are being transfered via wireless internet (Verizon FiOS), but the bluetooth devices are disconnecting during the transfer.Â

I have a question about using dual displays with my new macbook. The basic issue is this:
1: plug in second display and setup dual monitor support to use the external hi-res display and the macbook's display (no problem here).
2: drag windows to the external display and resize to use (no problems here either).
3. Power down and disconnect the external display.
4. Start up the macbook without the external display and try and open up a program that I was using previously on the external display. The problem is that it is resized and positioned for the external display and is now off the screen of my macbook display and I can't directly get to the title bar to move it or the resize corner to resize it.
All the icons on my MacBook Pro desktop and mission control have suddenly englarged themselves, how do I fix them??

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just jailbroke my iPhone 3GS and installed MyWi to work with my iPad. I also tried it on my MacBook Pro using Bluetooth. After I paired my iPhone and MacbBook Pro together everything worked fine. Now under the Airport Menu I see a separate category labeled "Devices" which is just below where my Home Network is.
My questions is how do I go about deleting this? I've tried everything. I deleted my device under Bluetooth Preferences, quit MyWi, messed around with the Network Preferences and it still appears under the Airport Menu. I even clicked connect but of course that doesn't work since I quit everything and deleted the device in Bluetooth settings. It's not even listed under "Preferred Networks" when you click on the advanced tab. It appears as "(my last name) Hotspot" and is under a tab labeled "Devices"
Just recently (this night,) whenever I would unplug my main USB hub, my iMac (Late 2006) would turn off (that is, instantly shut down as if the power had been disconnected). I don't know why this happened, but it turned on immediately afterward so I shrugged it off. The last time this happened, (the 4th time,) the iMac wouldn't turn back on at all.
It responds to power button presses, and you can hear the harddrive spinning up and the CD drive whirring and fans spinning. The sleep light in front stays on, but the display stays black, and it doesn't make the characteristic chime when it "turns on". In addition, it doesn't seem to be delivering power to USB devices, so there's no way that I can boot up from a startup disc or anything to see what's going on.
What do you guys think could be wrong with my computer? I doubt my non-existant applecare would cover anything of this sort, and I'm pretty sure that i'm SOL for hopes of a computer that just works. In addition, one other question. I was working on a VERY important school assignment at the time, (cliche, I know,) so is there any way I can connect another computer to my iMac so I can get my school assignment off of it?

What is the proper way to disconnect my mini-display port-VGA to the second monitor? Can I just yank it out when I am done or are there a proper steps?

I took an old photo of her and cropped it and went to (on Iphoto) share and set desktop and I had it perfect. Then I played around with other photos of her to see if I liked them better and when I came back to her photo and did a set desktop it was WAY too big. I went to the original on my camera and transferred it to I photo - fixed it and did a set desktop but it is way to big.

I would usually have to close Iphoto and import the photos again. My Iphoto Library is about 70GB. I decided to rebuild my Iphoto Library hoping that it would fix those issues. It took several hours to rebuild. Afterwards I opened Iphoto and noticed that when enlarging alot of my photos, there was a blur in the photo before it would display. This mostly occurs with my large sized photos. I never had this before. I decided to import some photos that are already in Iphoto (ones that when enlarged have a blur) from my picture folder. When I enlarged them there was no blur. Should I try rebuilding my Iphoto Library again but this time just select "rebuild all of the photos' thumbnails". I also notice that some of the thumbnails are blurry.

I dock the MBP with all my cabling, close it, and use a Wireless Apple Magic Mouse and Wireless Apple Keyboard with it. If I switch to port 2 or 3 on the matrix, the MBP will sleep. I have installed both smartSleep and InsomiaX to try and prevent this from happening. The MBP needs to run 24/7, even if that might be damaging. To mitigate heat issues I run smcFanControl to change the minimum speed of the fan to a higher level. The Xbox 360 and Tivo access music on this Mac, and so if it is sleeping; it kind of defeats the intention I am going for here. The iogear has no possible way of signalling the MBP to sleep. Also a Gefen HDMI Detective is not a reasonable fix. Also FWIW: This happens even if I physically unplug the cable, not just if I switch the port on the matrix. Kudos to the first person who finds a permanent fix for this issue. Â
tl;dr - Prevent Macbook Pro from sleeping on Mini-DisplayPort disconnection.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have read of wireless router issues with MBPs. I have the 13in, 2.26, 2GB (upgraded to 4GB) MBP. When I first got my MBP, I was having to continuously disconnect and reconnect to my router. I assumed I was having the same problems as others on this board have noted. Soon after, however, my work laptop (PC) started having connection issues as well and I have to perform the same process on it. disconnect, reconnect via the laptop, and then everything will work fine for anywhere from 10 minutes to a few hours. (Note: on the MBP, things only work fine for 5 mins or so before I have to perform the action again). It seems as though the MBP is more sensitive to the router issues than my PC.
Nonetheless, I am planning to purchase a new wireless router, since mine clearly has issues and it seems to be getting progressively worse. My question: Is there a particular router that seems to work better with MacBook Pros than others? Any that you guys would specifically recommend? (I need it to still work fine with a PC, as well, because of my work laptop)
