I can no longer access Bejeweled Blitz through facebook.I get the message, "your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit". I can access Bejeweled through FB using my husband's log in so to me that suggests the problem is with my log in.

Everything works fine if I'm in the same LAN but as soon as I tether my laptop to my cell service and try to issue the remote lock nothing happens till the laptop is back on the network and it gets the lock request. I have changed the hostname of the lion server a few times if that broke something. Also the server is behind a NAT so do ports need to be forwarded?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 2011 intel iMac. It is the (supposedly) powerful 3.1ghz i5, and i upgraded the RAM to 12 Gig. Before buying this machine I had a 2008 iMac and LOVED it, it was superb. But this machine is SLOWER than that one was?! I am running OSX lion, iLife 09 and iWork 11. I am having a nightmare with this machine, it hands constantly, i only have a few apps open and still it can take 5-10 seconds (beachballing) for finder to draw my files when i open a folder. This can't be right. I have reloaded the entire machine from scratch twice by cloning files off and then MANUALLY rebuilding it (not using Migrate Assistant to ensure to i was not bringing any bad data or bugs across from old installation or old machine). It is slow as a dog, way slower than my old iMac which had a mere 2 Gig of Ram! If i open more than 10 browser tabs in Safari it goes so slow I can't use the internet. The machine crashes at least twice a week and just hands so I have to force shutdown, and my latest error is iPhoto just lost ALL my photos, 5 years worth and gives the error "Request to server failed" but says nothing else of any use. I am hoping to recover them with TimeMachine but wait and see on that score as nothing seems to be right with this machine so no doubt TM will play up as well.
I have VMWare Fusion installed, latest version. It does seem slower when running that, but it still crashed and plays up when that is not running so I am sure that is not the source of any problems, it just makes them a bit worse due to processor usage.Is it possible to get an iMac diagnostically checked (hardware) at an Apple store? It is still under warranty this machine, but I can't drop it off at a store without wiping all my data (clone) to external drive, because I have confidential information stored on it which I can't leave on if the machine leaves my office. I struggled to afford to buy this machine, and thought it would sky rocket my performance and speed after my old machine started to get slow due to age, but even at its worst it was never this bad. I am now a very very disappointed Apple lover, ex-lover?! One final point I should mention, I upgraded the RAM myself, using proper stuff from Crucial. I read that it didn't matter what order the RAM cards were fitted in, is that true or should I try moving them around?

I'm having problems navigating the Silpada website [URL]. Safari let's me get as far as to enter my log in info however does not allow me to log on. I get the error "Safari can't find server". I have the same exact problem using Opera. Firefox will let me log on usually but I can only navigate the website for about 10 minutes then it starts with the same type of error. I can access and navigate the website just fine from my pc, which has the same internet provider as my mac. I have emptied caches, reset the browsers, unchecked the web proxy, turned off all firewalls. Any suggestions on what to try next?

I can access Google without a problem when I boot Win 7. I have tried restarting my ASDL modem/router. This was all working fine until a few days ago. I haven't made any networking-related changes in last few days.Here's what's happening. In Chrome 7.0.517.44 I can make an initial search from the search/address bar. All the content will appear but the page will never finish loading. A request for generate_204 from clients1.google.com.au never completes. Then I can cannot make any other Google requests without explicitly stopping the browser. Sometimes stopping the browser doesn't work and I have to quit it and start it again, then I can make another initial request, and the cycle repeats.

I'm unsure of what to do next.I am able to access the directory /Library/WebServer/Documents when I logon to the server through the Finder window. That's as far as I've gotten. But, ideally, I would like someone to be able to go to the URLs....to get to the target directory (or target file) "Example", and have it prompt the user for a name/password for authenticaion. I experimented with creating a realm, and having it point to a folder I created (e.g. Folder = /Library/ WebServer/ Documents/ Example), and giving myself access. I am unclear what the URL is for that folder. Going to urls... gives me a 404 error: Object not found.
I also tried pointing my realm to a location instead of a folder (e.g. Location = /Example). Now when I go to http://ourservername.com/Example, I get a 403: Access Forbidden error. But I'm unclear how to set access to the location, and where that would be actually located on my server (how can I add files to the Example directory?).

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo back in 2008 when I had a Penryn MacBook Pro, I could honestly tell the difference between using the MacBook Pro in Windows Vista vs. Mac OS X Leopard at the time. Not because they are different Operating Systems, but just by the quality of drivers Apple brings to Mac OS X vs. the crap that they bring to Windows.
But I don't understand it, particularly... I don't understand why we can't just not install Apple's crappy drivers, and go to each hardware component manufacturer's websites and download/install the default non-apple drivers ones and have the Mac run Windows just like a PC... not a Mac running Windows without running crappy drivers? Does this make sense?
I ask this because I am very interested in the MacBook Air, 13", but I also want to run Windows about 40% of the time so I am very confused on if I should buy it over the Lenovo X201 due to the terrible drivers Apple provides.

I'm new to this and haven't found anything like my problem on this website but about a month or two ago our iBook G4, which I am on right now, started to make a weird sound every so often. At first we just ignored it but then in the middle of backing up our HD the laptop started to make that sound again.
I was backing it up in one account while working in iMovie in the other and it froze. I shut it down by taking the battery out because it would not turn off any other way. I put it back in and it got to the loading screen and started to make that noise again and froze up. We recovered everything on that hard-drive and got a new one put in but I was hopping one of you fine people could tell me what went wrong.

I also know that if i access that file from my iphone or ipad and make changes to that document that it automatically updates it on icloud. Is there a way when i make changes to that document on my mac that it automatically updates it like my iphone and ipad does on icloud. Coz whats happening at the moment is every time i make a change to the doc on my mac its currently NOT updating it on icloud. I am doing something wrong or does it just not update the document?

I updated to iLife 09 from 06 last night. Every signal picture that I have was placed into an event. I don't want every signal picture to be in events. I tried erasing pictures from events and emptying the trash. However that did just erase my pictures from the iPhoto library totally. There's has be an easy to tell iPhoto that some pictures aren't events.
Also I tried to manually to mark some of my pictures with locations. However iphoto doesn't remember my location information that I put in. Also the maps are grayed out and yes I'm connected to the Internet.
I'd like to find out how much CPU usage is consumed when playing a 720p mkv file on my VMC player. I opened Activity Monitor and it's showing a lot of things,
1. There's CPU usage right next to VLC program which is reading between 30 to 45.
2. There's also CPU usage meter in the lower left corner in 4 different types; % User, % System, % Nice, % Idle
Now, my question is,
what is the difference between #1 and #2? And can you explain to me what % User, % System, % Nice, % Idle are in simple terms?

I've had this 750 GB external drive for a year or two now, and have used it with no problems. All of a sudden, it can't be read by my MacBook. Finder can't see it. No applications can see it except Disk Utility. But DU can't repair it, and when I try verifying I just get "Verify volume failed: Invalid request." Also, when I'm using DU normally, I can't even eject the drive. But if I boot from my Mac disc, I can. But that's the only difference; still no repairing or verifying, and I get the same error message.

I can't understand why Apple didn't support Snow Leopard for iCloud.There are a lot of us who still have computers that can't run Lion.I have three Macs running at home, but only one will run Lion,but I'm running SL on it, because Lion keeps crashing, locking up, or failing to boot. Now comes along Mountain Lion.I'm not sure I will upgrade to it, due to the problems I've had with Lion.I have an iPad coming in about two weeks and I'm hoping I can use this to access all my iCloud data. Jobs must have been out of the loop on this one.

Tonight, for the first time ever, I got two separate dialog boxes titled "Bluetooth Pairing Request", one from Ana and one from Lydia. Neither of these are my names. I recently moved into this apartment complex. Could the pairing requests be coming from a neighbor?
To answer myself, I think it is coming from a neighbor. I just went into the BT menu and clicked on Set Up Bluetooth Device. It didn't find my MM, but it did find a couple of mobile phones with the above names. Anyway, I rejected those two original pairing requests. I also have Airport turned off. So I don't think anyone can access my iMac.
