Mac Mini :: Audio Does Not Work On Skype Account Only Get Video
Dec 6, 2009I have an early 09 mini, and have a problem with skype. I have a new logitec c500 webcamera that works with my pc. The skype account works with my first gen black macbook, but on the newer mini I can see myself but the audio does not work. The cam connects to one of the usb ports and I've configured sounds to "unrecognized usb sound device" that came up after I plugged the camera in the mini, but on the "test calls" I still can't hear myself. The skype for mac is a beta, but others seem to do ok.

Jan 31, 2012I have an "early 2009" mini. I hooked it up to my HD TV through a Sony amp that acts as an HDMI switch. It works great until I switch to a different component (e.g. satellite receiver). When I switch back to the mini there is no video or audio. Screen sharing is also disabled: I can't access the mini from another Mac. Oddly, I can use the iphone Remote app to operate iTunes and send output through AirPlay. I could also access its shared files through the network. I've tried hdmireviver. It works for a while, but when the mini is not selected by the HDMI switch for more than 15 minutes or so, it fails. Do later models of the mini work more congenially with an HDMI switch?

We successfully hooked it up last night, and the video worked. I was told in the store that this setup would not transfer audio, so I already knew there would not be sound coming from the TV, rather from the Macbook instead. My Q is: What's the easiest way to get audio to come from the TV? I'd rather not buy external speakers to plug in, if I can help it.

May 29, 2010I want to convert some video files (specifically swf in this case) to audio files so I can listen on my iPod. I looked everywhere and can't find some free software that does that. There are tons that have trial periods with lots of limitations (like it won't convert anything larger than a 5k size file) so I don't want those because I won't know if the thing works well unless I pay for it. I'm not opposed to paying for a converter IF I know it works awesome on a Mac.

I am using a VGA (I know that doesn't send audio over) plugged into the 'PC In' port at the back of my tv, and I am using an audio cable with a normal headphone-type jack on one end (going into the headphone port on the back of my mac mini) and the red/white cable going into the HDMI-in red/white ports on the back of my tv. I can't figure out what is going on - I tried plugging the red/white cables into all the input ports on the back of my tv, just in case, but no luck.Â

Mac Mini :: Multiple Audio Outputs - HDMI & Audio Out?
Aug 4, 2010With the new Mac Mini models, you can have audio out via HDMI or the line out. I am thinking to hook the mini up to an LCD TV/monitor via HDMI (sound on the monitor) and also to my other TV/sound system via the mini DP and audio out.
I assume when the mini turns on it'll activate both displays (if they are turned on), and from what I understand you can have two displays running. I'd only want one at a time so I'd have the other display switched off. But can the mini output audio to either both, or whichever system I am using? I've read a lot of posts but can't find a definite answer. I only want audio (and video for that matter, but can turn off other screen) to one TV at a time, but do I have to go into the OS audio settings each time I want to swap between the two?
I'm also thinking of using Plex and keeping it open at all times, just sleeping the mini when not in use. Can the mini only output to one source, requiring manual switching to the other (i.e. going from HDMI to audio out)?

Feb 10, 2012I had this working fine a few months ago, and then upgraded to a Pioneer elite stereo, now either audio or video work, but not simultaneously, even if I connect video to TV directly and audio to stereo directly, I can't get both to work it's either or. I've set the stereo to accept the optical input, and as I said above, it doesn't even work if I connect the audio to the stereo only while the video goes to the TV.Â

Dec 20, 2010I have an early 2009 unibody 17-inch MBP and a new 2010 LG 50" LED HDTV (model PJ350). I got a mini displayport adaptor that allows me to connect the MBP to the TV using an HDMI cable. The video display is great but there is no sound, and I am aware only the new 2010 allow sound to go through to the TV and not my 2009 MBP. So I connected an AV cable through my MBP headphone port to the AV connection on the TV, but I get sound only on the AV menu. So if I select the HDMI mode I can only see video with no sound, or if I go to the AV mode I only get sound and no video. Is there any way I can see the video through HDMI while getting sound that is coming through the AV at the same time?

Dec 11, 2014I'm talking about iTunes, YouTube, Facebook videos.. you name it, it isn't working. I can't load any videos or play any music. Nor can I hear any audio on things that were pre-loaded before the problem started. And it just happened out of the blue maybe an hour ago! I've tried reinstalling iTunes, my Shockwave player, my QuickTime player to no avail.
And just to be clear, I did check to see if my speakers were muted or not (they were/are not) and if my audio output's were funky (they don't seem to be). I'm about to restart my computer and see what happens then.Â
