MacBook Pro :: Studio Recording - Dual SSD VS SSD ATA Hard Drive?

I'm looking for real-world advice from people who run multiple storage devices for audio recording using SSD - am I best to run dual SSD's OR 1 SSD and 1 ATA hard drive for a dedicated platform for recording audio in a project studio?Â
I'm moving to a Macbook Pro from Windows (no smart comments now) and need the best performance for as long as possible.Â
I record rock songs with 40 (or more) audio tracks with signal processing plugins on Ableton Live - I will also use Logic Pro. I also use BFD for my drum tracks which is CPU, RAM and disk instensive.Â
I've settled on the 15" 2012 MacBookPro with a hi-res display - I have a Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 firewire audio interface. I already have an OWC 250GB SSD + OWC 8GB RAM upgrade + OWC optical bay HDD caddy to fit.Â
So WHICH config is BEST for my long term audio recording?
1. OWC 256GB SSD for boot and apps and Apple 750GB 7200RPM HDD in optical bay for audio/temp files?
2. Apple 750GB 7200RPM HDD as boot/apps/temp and OWC SSD in optical bay for audio files?
3. Apple 128GB SSD for boot/apps/temp and OWC 256GB SSD in optical bayfor audio files?Â

I erased and reinstalled my entire system but beforehand I backed-up on a hard drive using time machine. I have FCS 2 academic version and no longer have the discs and want to bring it back on.Instead of migrating all the apps from my hard drive, is there a way to transfer just my FCS applications?

I installed final cut studio 2 to my macbook pro from my friend external hard drive and I have it all saved up in my memory.
Now i m upgrading my macbook pro and would like to save final cut studio to my wd external hard drive so i can install it in my new macbook pro but it will not allow me it tells me there is an unexpected error code 0.

I recently bought a Macbook Pro with a 200gb hard drive. Right now I am running bootcamp dual-booting OSX 10.6.5 and Windows7 100gb partitions each. I just got done configuring everything and then my friend offered me a 500gb hard drive for $50 so of course I had to buy it.
I am wondering if it is possible for me to clone the hard drive I currently have to the new 500gb hard drive and then extend the partition sizes so I don't have to go through and reinstall everything on the Windows side again.

I have a WD Mybook Essential Edition external hard drive that is dedicated to the Mac that I am trying to connect through USB to my Linksys router (WRT 610N).
I have spent no less than 14 hours on the phone with Linksys, can't get through to Western Digital, and Applecare tells me they don't work with PC hardware.

I'm looking to use a single external hard drive to use as a backup for my files between my two laptops. One MBP, one Dell. I need some help with how to partition the drives correctly.
I will be moving files over 4GB, so FAT32 is not an option, plus the drive will be at least 500GB, and I know FAT32 sometimes has issues when partitioned that large. So FAT32 is out. What I'm looking to do is have half of the drive formatted to NTFS, and half formatted to HSF+.

My old mini reached the capacity of its hard drive 500gb. So I bought a new mini with dual hard drives a 256ssd and 750gb std drive. When I tried to migrate my info and settings I received the message "disk full". I realized that there was no choice for selecting which hard drive stores what info. I wanted my operating system and settings on the SSD and the iPhoto and iTunes libraries stored on the larger HD. I tried using target disk mode which allowed me to see both hard drives and I transferred my settings except for these large iTunes and iPhoto libraries to my new mini.
However when I opened iTunes it was blank, no music movies or playlists. I realize iTunes match will bring these back, but my fear is that when I sync my iPhone iPad or touch it will force me to erase these devices and I will have to re do everything, move my app icons around, re input all my app settings etc. what can I do to transfer all my iTunes settings to my new dual drive Mac? What is the proper way to do this? will I have to start new each time I get a new Mac because of the dual drive situation?

I was wondering how expandable this thing is in terms of adding another internal hard drive...also are there any limitations this machine has in general (i already have an intel mac so this would be a second computer)?

Im having trouble understanding how to work this. I read the instructions up and down and it does not indicated anything what so ever. I just plugged in my second ATA hard drive into my mac g5(dual 2.5) I now want to copy everything on my original harddrive onto the harddrive I just put in. HOW? Everyone keeps telling put just click copy everything, and Im aware of that. But whhere do I copy it to? It says "New Disk Image or Choose Disk Image" I cant find my other hard drive in either of those options. My source disk is my original hard drive but I do not know how to target my new drive.

Got a new MBP last month to replace my white MacBook - loving it as an upgrade but one gripe - if I'm sat using it on my knee I regularly hear the "click" type noise of what I imagine is the protection of the hard drive because it thinks it is being dropped.
I never heard this on my old Mac and while it's not a huge issue it is a bit disconcerting, as though I'm being told off for moving it in a fairly responsible way.

I have an aluminum unibody macbook from October 2008. I'm looking to upgrade the 160 GB hard drive inside to a 500 GB one I'm considering from Newegg. Would it be possible to migrate/copy/clone the entire contents of my current hard drive to the 500 GB one? I also have a section of my current hard drive partitioned for Bootcamp. Would this affect my ability to transfer everything over?
If this is possible at all, how can I go about doing so? If there are steps laid out somewhere, I'd appreciate a referral. Sorry if my question is a little elementary, but I did a search on these forums and also google and nothing really came up

I know it has been discussed previously in terms of desire to see it happen. But my question is how hard would it be for Apple to accomplish this?
The optical drive takes up a lot of space, and also connects through Sata, right?
OptiBay and others have hack solutions, do surely Apple could make an elegant one for us.
The mini has dual disks. The iMac also has dual disks.
Any reasons as to why we're still waiting to see this in a MBP?

Recently I bought 2 identical WD Scorpio Blue 1TB hard drives for my macbook pro 13 inch 2010. My aim is to replace the internal hard drive with one of the two I just purchased and use it as my system drive with Lion, Windows and Data partitions. And for the other hard drive I want to use it as a full disk back up for the internal drive (now 1TB hard drive). After I was done with setting up both windows and mac and data transfer, when I booedt into the recovery partition from the internal drive to clone the drive to the external drive, the disk utility gave me this error (Could not validate source - error 254). I also tried using Carbon Copy Cloner but it only could clone partitions, not the entire drive. Yesterday I downloaded a copy of Clonezilla. It worked fine until it had to clone an exFAT partition (my data partition). The exFAT partition appeared as 'RAW' partition in clonezilla. As a result, the whole partition appeared to be full and clonezilla had to copy every single blocks of data in that partition and the estimated time remaining was about 30 hours. So clonezilla is out too. Just want to ask if there is any program/application (bootable or not) which allows can do a full disk clone to an external hard drive.

Notes. Failed HDD ASD Test.  A new hard drive was installed in September of 2011 after the previous hard drive failed. Having worked well until now the system seems to give the same problems as it had previously. I am wondering if this is a compatibility issue as others have pointed out. Â
I have been told by the technician my only option is to replace the entire hard drive again for the second time with a new one. However to my understanding a ASD test is very specific and this my not be necessary? Further I am attempting a final backup just in case. I don't have to take it in where I could just back it up myself without the system shutting down.

I have just purchased a WD Studio Turbo extarnal/portable 320GB drive to use as a back-up and spare start-up disk. (I normally run Disk Warrior from an external.)
I have backed up my Macintosh HD to this WD drive using Super Duper and Super Duper indicates that everything has been copied ok.
However, when I plug in the FW800 cable to my MacBook Pro (old version) and restart holding down the Option key it doesn't show up as an alternative start-up disk.

I am willing to save on my hard disk the content of a SD card that contains mts files that I can access via AVCHD, BDMV, STREAM.
When I copy the whole SD card to save on my hard disk, I get an error message saying that the copy cannot proceed because one of the file contains information that cannot be read.
I was told on this group, that changing the structure of the AVCHD folder should not be changed. Can I delete the file that contains a bug ? or will I screw up the AVCHD folder ?Â

Today I went to plug in my Lacie 250 GB USB external hard drive into my 13 in. MacBook to get a shirt template for a design I am making. I discovered that the hard drive just would not mount and show on the desktop, and I remembered that this happened a few days before, but all I did was unplug it and plug it back in, and it worked... except that today, that didn't work at all. I tried the other USB port, and the hard drive showed up on the desktop for about a second, and then disappeared. I kept on replugging it back into both USB ports, but nothing happened.
Then I tried to see if it would work on the PC beside me, and it was recognized as an external device; however, a message came up telling me the drive was malfunctioning. I am guessing this is from ejecting it incorrectly (because I am in a hurry to head to my next classes...I use this laptop at school), but I have incorrectly disconnected it before in the past and this problem never happened to me before.
Every single project I have ever created for my design career is on that hard drive, and all I want now is to get my files back. All I need it to do is show up on the desktop for just the right amount of time for me to copy my files onto my computer.
I read online to put it into the freezer for a while and it should mount, but that didn't work. I tried using Disk Warrior, Data Rescue 3, and Tech Tool Deluxe, but the hard drive did not show up on any of those apps.I tried plugging the hard drive into an iMac as well, but it did not show up either.

I bought a new 500GB WD hard drive for my Late 2008 MacBook to upgrade from my 250GB drive. I have a hard drive enclosure, but I was wondering if when I install my 500GB hard drive, would I be able to use the enclosure to transfer files from my 250GB drive? My PowerBook G4 (Alum) died. I've had it for 4 years, taken it with me to Alaska and all over the lower 48, and have had nothing but happy experiences. I knew she was gonna go, but I was hoping she'd hold on until I could afford a MacBook. Alas, no. The problem appears to be the ability of the logic board to communicate with the hard drive. I can hear the HD spin, but even with Disk Warrior, I cannot locate it. The Mac Geniuses at my local Apple store confirmed this and gave me a shoulder to cry on. I've run Disk Warrior, Disk Utility, and tried finding it using the target disk mode - no luck.
The problem is that I've got 4 years of teaching materials, 6000 songs, and irreplaceable pictures on the HD, so I can't bring myself to just trash it. It's true that you only fail to back up you stuff once. This is my once. I've heard that with PC hard drives, you can just drop the old HD into a USB HD box and use it as an external HD. I can't afford professional data retrevial, and I want to give this option a try if it'll work with a Mac HD. Any ideas or suggestions?

Just want to find out has anyone experimented installing 2 hard disks in your macpro and the 2nd hard disk is installed with xp pro via bootcamp?
Have you experienced any problems?
Would this be a better solution as compare to installing xp pro in virtual software?
