I have a Macbook Air and I don't want to store videos on the hardrive because it will fill up fast. I have a lot of videos - for people that also take a lot of videos - what is the best way in your opinion or best place to store video? For example, on a server, on a cloud server, etc?

Since my iMac hard drive space (2 terabite) is almost half-full of the Movies I have in my iTunes, I would like to be able to set up my iTunes to store and play the movies from an external hard drive.I just bought a 4 terabite G-Drive for doing this.I would also like to be able to view the movies on my two differant Apple TV's.

How to download SD video's from the ITunes store without making it complicated?
Right now, I am buying HD versions of videos so I can play them to their greatest on the Apple TV. I don't however want the HD version of the video on my iphone, SD is fine and doesn't take up huge amounts of space. Right now, I have to go the ITunes store on my iphone, search for the movie and then scroll to the bottom and click "Available in SD" and then click download.
Surely there has to be an easier way?! I should just be able to go to "Videos" on the iphone, and then download in SD, but it will only do it in HD and I cant afford to have a single file taking up 4gb of space.

*First time user on this forum, so sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place or this thread has already been asked*
I was wondering if anybody could advise me on how to go about purchasing tracks/videos from the Canadian Itunes store.I have an American account, but there are a few items in the Canadian sotre I would like to purchase. I've tried changing 'stores' but I get the usually message "Your Account is only valid to purchase items from the US store".I have read you can make a Canadian account, but was wondering if the Giftcards purchased in the American stores, can be used to top up Canadian Itunes Account.
We have a macbook that is getting close to having a full HD. Can I use an external HD and put all my iTunes music and iPhoto photos on that external drive and free up my internal HD? What do I need to do to get iPhoto and iTunes to access those libraries and work as it does now?

I want to move my photos from my laptop to an external hard drive. I already own a Seagate which is formatted for a PC, with photos already on it. I do not want to lose those photos and have been told by Apple tech that the seagate can be reformatted for mac. How do I do this without losing the PC photos already on it. Is there any difference between photos transferred from a PC or a MAC ?

Just got a mac book pro and getting used to it. Recently got married and while we were hanging out with our friends they stuck each of their camera memory cards into our mac and transferred all the videos and pics on to the computer. Now I'm home and I want to transfer all those pics/videos on to our external hard drive. I've tried everything! I've tried exporting...I've tried dragging the pics. Nothing will work. The weird thing is, I'm able to move pics from the HD over to my computer but not vice versa.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am curious if anyone accesses an external hard drive through their airport for video (i.e. accessing video for Final Cut, and importing to hard drive from digital camcorder) and if anyone has issues doing so or maybe just some advise in setting up such a network.
View 3 Replies View Relatedhey guys, i'm leaning towards buying the 27 i7 imac, but i'm hesitant because I want to make sure that i'll be able to watch blu rays on it. As far as I understand, the simplest way to do this is via an external blu ray drive and windows bootcamp. If I buy this, will I be able to watch blu rays seamlessly (i.e. w/ smooth frame rates, solid picture, etc)?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to preserve my family photos and videos on an external hard drive as I am filling up my MacBook Pro storage, meaning I need to remove some videos from my MacBook so I can add more. It sounds like Time Machine will write over old files to keep more recent updates. Is there a way to mark certain files on the external hard drive as ones that should NEVER be deleted by Time Machine?

I've been having this problem for a while now and its only with images and videos when i try to open any picture or video this msg comes up "The file couldn’t be opened because there is no such file" and i can only open it if i copied the file from my hard drive to my computer.when i open the info for the same picture (one in on the hard drive and one my computer) the one on the hard drive has nothing under "more info" while the one on my computer has a lot of details under "more info" .

I would like to download some HD movies and stuff from iTunes. Thing is, I got not much space left. Can I store these movies on my external 2.0 USB hard disk?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI was told yesterday that i should have an external drive dedicated to my itunes and all my music, videos etc. i have more then enough space on my imac's HD to store everything i need, but this person was telling me it helps with application loads if i store the itunes files on a separate, external HD.
So what is the better option? internal HD or separate external?

I'm running a G5 quad with 2x320GB Western Digital HD (striped RAID 0). I want to back up the entire system and programs to an external drive(s) I can boot from, in case the main drive(s) fail. What are my options for doing this? I want to have an exact copy of my system, in other words.

I want to know if this is possible and, if so, how to do it.
Currently, my iMac's HD is overloaded by my 220GB collection (mostly podcasts).
My idea is to have the iTunes collection on an external hard disk (e.g. a Western Digital Passport 320GB).
When connected to the iMac, iTunes on the iMac reads the MP3's from the external disk.
Then, when I'm on the road with my MacBookPro, the MBP's iTunes would read from the same external hard disk.
A problem could be how to make the second MBP recognize any updates to the iTunes list that has changed when used with the iMac since the last hookup.
In other words... I have moved my music library to the external hard drive, as per an earlier thread I read here on the forums. It worked like quite well. Now that it is working perfectly, I am having a hard time leaving well enough alone. It is never a good idea for me to think too much...Can itunes be installed and run on/from an external hard drive? If so, how?

View 5 Replies View RelatedCan I store all my iTunes movies on a separate external hard drive and use a "link" to the iTunes folder?
If it works, is their anything more I have to do, to update the iTunes library?
My iTunes library got too big so I moved it to my external hard drive and now that I have space for it on my macbook, I want to move it back but cant. It keeps stopping saying that it cant move certain files then it stops the transferring process altogether. I've tried moving it several times but it keeps failing on me. Anyone have an idea as to why it keeps stopping the transfer on me?
