MacBook Pro :: Can't Start Up Beyond The Grey Start Up Screen
Aug 23, 2014
Macbook Pro can't start up beyond the grey start up screen. There's a spinning wheel and bar that moves to 1/4 before Macbook Pro shuts down automatically.
i Was surfing the Internet and all of the sudden my computer turned blue. I closed the screen to 'refresh' it and when I opened it back up some of the pixels seemed to be missing and then it started beeping at me in increments of 3. I **** it down and tried to restart it. when the screen booted up it still seemed to me that the pixels were screwed up. I've managed to get past the blinking image of the earth, however after that disappears a grey screen comes up for about a minute or two and then the entire computer shuts down. This is in the middle of my finals and I cannot lose any of my work!
My fiance unknowingly shut down my macbook in the middle of start up. Before that it was running perfectly fine, I had no issues. After my fiance stopped the start up, the macbook won't turn on. It'll load up to the grey loading screen (example here)... It doesn't make much noise as it starts up either. I have all original discs that came with the macbook, if that helps any.Â
Went to turn on my Mac book pro 2011 or 2012 and it went to the grey loading screen with an apple, spinning gear and a loading bar. Once the loading bar completes my Mac book just turns off. It just keeps doing this, I tried to do a safe boot, but once it was done that it turned off and continues to do this circle of grey screen loading than turning off.
My MacBook Pro (The oldest one, I believe) won't start. After OS X 10.6.5, it will sit at the grey screen with the spinning gear. Safe boot does the same. Verbose mode shows it stuck at "vmnet: netif-vmnet8: Adding protocol 2." I can boot off the install CD and single user mode
New Macbook pro sometimes displays a grey screen on switch on or resurning from standby, which I erase using the trackpad in order to get to the login screen. The same thing happened to the first laptop which I only purchased last November 2011.Last machine eventually slowed right down. Apple genius people say they have never heard of this or seen it.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), this is my second laptop in 3 mths
Can you guys figure out this problem? Whenever i start a video chat my screen goes grey as seen below. Does anyone also have this problem? Ihave the new Macbook (alum)
My computer started getting really slow all of the time and then it froze with the spinning rainbow. Normally if I simply press and hold the power button to restart it, the computer is fine. This time when I turned t back of I got a grey screen with the flashing question mark.
I have a Macbook Air. I thought I had lost it, so I erased it from Find My Iphone. Then of course I found it, my computer was completely erased. When I started my computer I hear the chime, but then a blank grey screen (no apple). I have tried every start up command and reset. I have tried Command R, Option, with and without connecting an Toshiba hard drive that has my computer backed up. I have tried disconnecting everything more my computer. I'm not using an external keyboard.Â
Again, when I try command R, option, command n, D,T, the shift button, etc. nothing really happens the screen is still grey.
Fairly new MacBook Pro with OXLion. When I try to turn on the computer, the startup noise and screen appear (grey loading screenwith apple icon). A loading bar at the bottom of the screen fills about a third up, then the computer shuts down again.
When I start my Macbook Pro ´13 2013, the grey screen with the apple appears and loads but then it "falls asleep" and when i press a key the mac wakes up but there is a black screen with the cursor.
Things I've tried:
-Safe mode -Verify Disks- But the hard disk appears to be fine -Resetting SMCÂ
I have a macbook intel core duo and it shut down in the middle of watching a youtube video. It will not startup freezes at grey screen with apple logo (no spinning disc). There are no abnormal sounds or extreme temperatures. The macbook is just over one year old.I have tried the following:Ran disk warrior 4 in target disc mode - no problems found
When i start the computer and the grey screen comes up with the apple logo etc., a grey "loading" bar has started appearing in the bottom of the screen. Takes a few minutes for it to go away. In the meantime the computer gets very hot and the fans are up to 6000 rpm. Then the os starts up, and I cannot download anything, due to the fact that it thinks my harddrive is full, though i have more than 100 gb of free space.I cant even download the 10.6.2 now due to the harddrive appears to be full
Turn on Mac goes to grey apple screen cog wheels spins but its stuck there tried control option p and r doesn't do anything tried turning it on while holding shift key to try and get it in safe mode but that does not work either.
Im new to macs compared to most, 27-inch, Late 2009 imac, freezing at start up on grey screen Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)I have tried booting in safe mode, verified disk-goodverified disk permissions and repaired disk permissions called tech support restarted holding command r and did the same thing again, well computer worked for 1 day and now freezing again, and it will not let me command R right after turning the mac on.
My 27" iMac, running OS 10.6.8, has started running slowly when loading Apps and when running Safari. Also, when powered, on It has started stopping on the grey screen before the Apple logo displays. To get past this I must turn the Mac off and then back on.
My computer started having problems some two weeks ago.First it was very slow then it blocked during the use of Photoshop. At that stage I used Apple jack to test and solve the problem and it worked. But two days later the problem came again as a verry slow start-up.I checked the disk and there was no problem signaled.I tried to boot the computer on the installation disk in order to execute the Hardware test...The test gave the folowing error code: 4HDD/11/40000004:SATA(0,0)Â
My Mum has just turned on our family computer- an iMac G5, 1.9ghz 17" (first model with built in iSight).
It gets to the grey screen with the apple, with the loading icon below it, then after about a minute the fans turn out pretty loudly, and it goes no further, just stays on the grey screen.
I have an intel imac - can't tell you much about the details as I can't get any info out of it. I installed snow leopard about a year ago - no issue since then other than occassionally the screen goes black but nothing major.Yesterday, I backed up to my usual passport backup and then today, it froze. I couldn't turn it off or restart at all so resorted to the power button. Since then, I can turn it on, it goes to the grey screen (no blue screen) and I get the apple logo and the spinning clock/wheel. For hours and hours....So, I tried one of the apple support pages and worked through - peripherals, safe boot, NVRAM, PRAM, tried to reboot with mac osx disc (the original not snow leopard) - nothing. Absolutely nothing changes - same old grey screen, apple logo and spinning clock/wheel.
My computer won't turn on. Earlier today while playin music it just paused itself. I minute later it resumed. Then tonight it just shut off instead of sleeping and now it won't start. All I can get if I'm lucky is the start up chime and a super quick flash of a white screen.
Lion won't start up properly,it goes to grey screen asking for my name and password..starts up but only a few things will work! and when I reduce say email or safari it staggers and I have no sound! I have been in contact with support twice but problem has not resolved. If I shut down and or restart it starts perfectly with my desktop working perfectly?
My computer is a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X Version 10.7.3, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 with 4GB memory. Start-up has become somewhat erratic. Consistently, if I close the lid on the computer it won't restart when I reopen it. I'll have to hold the power button down for about 15 seconds, let up and then press it again. Sometimes restarting after a shutdown the computer will go through the long start-up I associate with a crash shutdown. Sometimes login start-up items don't start up. Sometimes I have to click somewhere on the screen to make the menu bar at the top of the screen visible. Overall, unexpected things keep happening. Although I don't think it probably relates, Chrome is my primary browser.
Whenever I take the hard drive out my laptop just stops working and it's back to normal when I put the hard drive in, is there a way for me to use my laptop without having to physically have my start up disk (hard drive) plugged into my laptop?
[URL] input Music into vent and whenever I press "start" I either Get an Error Saying "cannot start Jack server, Please Check preferences or retry after a system reboot" or "Fatal error has occurred shutting down." and I reinstalled it and Used the default preferences
