View 4 RepliesI have a unibody 15" macbook pro. I currently have an incase soft sleeve but I would also like to get a speck hard case.
Will the computer, covered by the speck hard case, still fit into the incase sleeve? Has anyone done this?
Tried to go to the apple store to check but they wouldn't let me try out the speck hard case and seeing if it fit before I bought it...
I have an early-2012 13" i7 Macbook Pro running Lion 10.7.3. In the past couple of days, I have noticed that the computer stalls on the grey Apple screen with the spinning wheel after a soft shut down/reboot. If I do a hard restart while it has stalled like this, it then proceeds to boot up normally.

As you can probably guess, it happens while playing a game (Starcraft 2). It's only happened when playing on a soft surface (in bed, on a pillow, etc.). The simple answer would be to simply not use it on these surfaces, but it seems illogical that you WOULDN'T be able to use a laptop. . . . on your lap.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've had my Macbook since 2009, and since this morning it's been making a chirping noise, possibly from the optical disk drive, roughly 4 times per second. It stops for about a second every 10 minutes, but other than that it has been repetitively chirping all day. I haven't dropped it or anything like that.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI absolutely HATE trackpad oil/wear. I have used many pre-unibody MacBook Pro's (and other laptop models) that have worn trackpads that make tracking VERY hard. But these new trackpads are apparently wear resistant.
I have a Moshi cover on the trackpad, but I'm wondering if its even useful. Since the unibody systems have been out for a long time, can anyone report back on trackpad wear. Are the glass trackpads really as good as Apple claims, and thus no wear? I have had a unibody system for a year but it has always had a trackpad cover, and if possible I would like to do away with it as it makes tap-clicking a bit hard.
I was first torn between actually ordering the whiite macbook over the macbook pro because i hated the black keys on the silver macbook pro.
Well after searching google, ebay etc i found out about these silicone keyboard covers and want to know if you have one and also im trying to get as close as the original MBP color but these below seem to be the closest what do you guys think will look better on the MBP.

I just bought a black MacBook. I've searched the forums but all the threads I've found on this topic seem to be dead ends.
I'm already planning on getting a Moshi palmrest to keep the top of the bottom case from getting all oily and shiny.
I'm also thinking of getting a Radtech Screensaverz to keep the keyboard from imprinting onto the screen and to wipe down the screen and case.
I would like something to keep my keyboard clean as well.

I noticed on the iSkin site that they say the pre-printed covers (which is what I think I'd like) do not fit the MacBook revision that came out in November, though.
i just bought the newly updated white polycarbonate 13.3 macbook and i was wondering what type of case would protect it the best. ive seen a bunch on ebay that looked cheap like they would do more damge then they would prevent. i just dont want all kind of scratches on my new mac becuase its like my first child to me lol.

Only issue is they both came in the same box and have no indication of which is which. Mine is a Macbook Pro and his is a Mac Mini. Both boxes look identical except on one side the numbers are different. Anyway to tell without opening the boxes, as I need his to look brand new?

'm not particularly fond of some of the commercial macbook skins out there, so i'm interested in creating my own.
i'd like to create something similar to this:
clearly, there's some sort of custom/created skin (vinyl, perhaps?) on top of the actual macbook without covering the macintosh light. on top of that is a black incase cover.
any tips on creating something along these lines? methods/tools/supplies?
Does anyone have experience with the silicon cover from KB Covers? Do they interfere with the air flow or cause the computer to heat up?

Is this true? where does the mac vent out heat? I thought a keyboard cover was a good idea, to protect from spills etc.

I just switched from Windows to MAC 2 days ago - a brand new Macbook Pro. Needless to say I love the design of the machine. However I am having a slight problem with the fonts in OS X. I have always loved Windows XP fonts, and to a lesser extent Vista fonts. But my first impressions of OS X fonts have been terrible - They feel blurry, and very very soft, and very unlike crisp and sharp nature of XP fonts. My question is - is there a way of adjusting the fonts in OS X to make it look more like Windows? I almost feel blind looking at the fonts right now in OS X.

There is already a light scratch on the screen from my dumness.
A couple years ago, there was a recall on MacBook Pro (C2D) batteries as a result of them expanding and bulging. As I experienced those symptoms, I called Apple and got a replacement shipped no problem. Fast forward to a year and a half or-so later, and the same thing has happened to this battery. I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to if I'd still be eligible to get a replacement for it, free of charge - since I don't have a warranty. Is the recall still valid? Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated - worse comes to worse, I'll have to buy an aftermarket battery, since I can't afford Apples at the moment.

the arc soft s/w came with my canoscan 4400F scanner a few years ago. i use it just for scanning in photos and mostly slides - it has a useful preview section that i like, plus it seems to be essential to scan in slides. when i converted to 10.6.2 on my new 1999 imac, the program would open but crash on selecting a scanner. canoscan toolbox 5.0 also came with the scanner and works fine for everything except slides. can canoscan be made to work with slides. i spent some time on the arcsoft support site (very poorly designed) i guess the alternative query is -- does apple make software that will support scanning on canon scanners?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a Speck hard shell for my 17'' unibody and I love it in all respects (beautiful, MBP doesn't run hoter, rubberized, tough) except for its weight (over 1 lb). It tips the weight of the MBP from very bearable into too heavy. Any alternatives? I'm not looking for protection from dings but just small scratches.

This made me realize that maybe I should pick up a hardshell case to prevent anymore dents. But, upon investigation, there are no hardshell cases that fit the magsafe cable.Or is this not true? Are there brands besides Speck and incase that would fit the new MBP?

Anyone know any sold sources for where to get a pink Speck Hard shell case? I've found a few websites that claim to have thembut they mostly ship from China and they give no timeframe when the item will arrive. I've checked eBay and craigslist. I found on on eBay, and I purchased it. And about a week later the seller refunded my payment with no explanation or reason and he won't return my emails.
