I mistakenly erased my external hard drive while attempting to reinstall my OS. Everything should have been backed up to iCloud, but I do not know how to restore it to my laptop.
Info:
MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
My external hard drive has failed loosing all of my iTunes content. I use the iCloud backup and have iTunes Matching. I have over 8000 tracks uploaded but can not return the music to my external hard drive so that I have it backed up in more than one place again.
My external hard-drive crashed recently, and all of my music went with it. I have everything on my iCloud account, and can get to it all on my phone and ipad, but is it possible to get it from iCloud to my laptop?
My iMac was stolen by burglars on Friday. Sunday evening, when I found out, I ordered a remote wipe (from my Air) on the stolen iMac. Apparently, it hasn't yet come online, though, so the wipe hasn't happened. Today I went a bought a new iMac, and right now I am restoring my (old/stolen) iMac onto my new iMac to a Time Capsule that the thieves didn't find. Suddenly, I got very worried: When it finishes restoring, and says "hi" to the internet, - will it appear to be the stolen iMac and be wiped?
In other words: how does iCloud identify the stolen computer - by the machine, or by it's content?(pretty worried right now, since I don't remember the six digit code that will need to be entered IF it is wiped; I made it up when I was completely frantic from the shock of walking into a home that was broken in to.)
Can I use iCloud to back up and then return my files for system restroe? I just wanna back up my music and photos so I can do a system restore if I have iCloud will it allow me to download them back on once I finish the system restore?
My calendars on the iPhone did not syncronize with iCloud for other devices (iPad, Mac). So I tried to sync iPhone Calendars with iTunes where I got a warning of duplicate entries. After the sync my Mac calendars all were gone, on the iPhone, on the Mac. Only the Calendars on iCloud, which are not up to date (!!!) are still available. I tried to restore via TimeMachine but could not find the database for iCal. Everything seems to have changed in OX Lion.
I deleted some important contacts from my Address Book, which is synched with iCloud, recently.I restored my Address Book from a Time Machine back up which had the important addresses still included. But every time I open Address Book on my MacBook, it tries to synch with iCould, which is missing the contacts and therefore immediately deletes them.I have turned iClound sync off in my System Preferences, but because the Address Book Time Machine backup I am trying to restore from has iCloud 'enabled' in the Address Book preferences, every time I open it, it resets my System Preferences back to syncing Address Book with iCloud and it deletes the contacts I am trying to restore upon the application start up.How do I actually restore Address Book from a Time Machine back up and keep iCloud from overwriting that?
How long should I be stuck on the screen "calculating space required to restore data"? I've been on this screen for about 20, 30 minutes. The "hash mark wheel" is spinning, but just not seeing anything new. Is this normal? My backed up data is ~100 GB.
So here's my question:I've owned my share of MacBook Pro's, so I'm somewhat familiar, but not an expert. I got my mini last Friday from cowboom (a Best Buy affiliate), and since it's a pre-owned, it only came with the power cable and HDMI to DV-I adapeter. For those that ordered these, a majority of the people posted that it did not come with an OS, but the Internet Restore option fixed the trick. So I powered it on and got the flashing folder with the question mark. No OS. I did the Internet recovery and ran it through all the way to the the reinstall Lion screen. When asking what drive to install it on, there were no drives. I closed the installer and ran the disk utility and the only available drive was some basic drive that had a capacity less than 2GB. No other drives. I booted from my Lion that's on USB, but there's no drive to install it on. Any suggestions? I checked the warranty and the warranty cannot be verified. Some buyers said they had warranty from 8 months and up. One said his warranty showed starting from the day he restored his mac. I'm guessing because it was never registered I made an appointment tomorrow to take it to apple but is there something that can help avoid the trip?
I'm selling my Macbook Pro and I want to know how to completely wipe out the hard drive. I bought the Lion on the app store so I don't have the internet to re-install it.
I have Imac. When we moved from mobile me to icloud, the calendar no longer pushes to icloud.Message in calendar is: The calendar url... was not found on the server. Make sure the URL is correct.
I have been trying to download Cloud 1.I put my Apple ID and Password in.It didn't take.I changed my password and it still didn't take. Also, when I tried to download mobile me, it wanted my 'member name and ID'.Is that separate? All I want to do, actually , is sink my contacts in Yahoo to gmail on safari.I was able to do that on Mail in Mac, but not on Safari.
I have the Intel X-25 M G2 160GB and if for some reason I have to restore my comp with this SSD in it. How do I ensure that everything is erased and my SSD is not "dirty". Like brought back to a 100% state. Do I do Zero Out data?
I am in the process of selling my old MBP and would like to wipe it clean before it exchanges hands. I dont have the restore discs though, is there a way to restore it to its factory settings/features if i dont have the disc?
The 10.5.4 update appears to have killed my MBA. On boot I either get a grey box in the middle of the screen in four languages telling me I need to restart my computer, or I get a blank pale blue screen. I left it on the pale blue screen overnight but it never moved on from there...
Have everything backed up on Time Capsule, but I'm new to Macs, so can you advise on next steps, how I would go about getting my MBA to a state where I can restore from backup, etc?
Pointers to apple support sites welcome but I'm on my iPhone so searching isn't great.
For some weird reason, after I connected my WD MyBook to Windows, I cannot access it in Mac. It says that I don't have the permissions needed, and I cannot repair permissions or change my access level.
I recently purchased Adobe Master Suite and installed it to my MBP. I found that this was a mistake cause it cluttered my brand new MBP. So I uninstalled it and realized how cluttered my MBP is already. I was wondering is there away that I can clear everything and re-install the OS without slowing down the Mac in any way?
I needed to install one of my drivers back into my Macbook Air but I cant find my OSX Disc the Disc 1. Can I just go and buy a new Leopard OS X and do a whole new install. Would this bring back all the original drivers back in my Book? Or do I need to contact apple and ask to send my restore disc to me?
I have an 09' MacBook Pro and have upgraded the OS along the way. Now I bought a new computer and want to restore it and give it to the kids. Can I restore it with the factory disc without losing the upgraded OS? I upgraded with a family pack with my brother so I don't have the upgrade disc, he does. Thoughts?
