MacBook Pro :: Comparison Pics Of High Resolution Glossy And Standard Resolution Glossy?

Oct 4, 2010

1) Having a difficult time finding anything good on this. Anyone got direct comparison pics between the two on the 15"?2) Also how much brighter are the mid-2010 15" displays compared with the late-08 15" displays? IIRC the 2009 screens got a wider color gamut and more brightness than the original unibody screens.

MacBook Pro :: 2009 Glossy Screen Versus 2010 Standard Res Glossy Screen

Apr 25, 2010

Is there a difference? Anything at all? I would expect Apple to make the 2010 standard res. screens worse in quality and earn more money since they have the higher res. available. I really like the 2009 glossy screen, but i have to be sure it is exactly the same this year. If they did something like that it's typical Apple.

MacBook Pro :: Merged High Resolution Glossy Or High Resolution Antiglare?

How does the Antiglare screen look? Does it look cheap and flimsy like the matte screens on the pc laptops? This is my first Mac and i'm looking at going all out and getting the top of the line 15". I know I definitely want the HD screen, i'm just not sure which screen looks better. What about a 5400 vs 7200 rpm hdd? Is this upgrade worth it?

Hardware :: Glossy Or Anti-glare - Could It Be That (after Much Agonizing) Opted For The Glossy Screen

I just bought a MacBook Pro (2.53/4GB) and I am just a tad disappointed with the graphics.

Could it be that (after much agonising) I opted for the glossy screen?

I feel that I want to adjust the contrast, but I don't know how.

MacBook Pro :: Humble Comparison - I5 2.4Ghz High Resolution Antiglare Vs I7 2.66Ghz Glossy

May 8, 2010

Currently owing the top of the line i7, and after reading a lot about the antiglare and its high resolution I went to the Apple store (twice) to check and compare both screens. I spent around 2.5 h trying to make my mind, looking at different angles, playing movies, launching applications, etc. I was almost giving up in trying to find a solution for this when an apple store rep. talked to me. His suggestion was to look at the same picture on both computers at full screen. He said that for photos and prints, the antiglare image will be closer to what you get in the prints (with out any extra monitor calibration off course). When I started looking at the pictures very closely and with detail, I could see that the clarity and quality of the same picture was better and "crispier" on the antiglare than on the stock glossy resolution. That was my turn point and made my decision on the antiglare high res. There are other reasons why I wanted the antiglare, like the reflections I am getting in my home; but really the point was made once I looked at the clarity of the pictures in the high res screen compared with the standard res.

One point I noticed in the high res screen was that the only application where I could say the fonts were really small and maybe uncomfortable for me was on iWork applications. The icons for the format bar were really small. But in Office, everything seem OK for my eyes (I need glasses for long distance sight). I can say that by looking at both machines at home, the glossy colors look more vivid, and that the viewing angles are better than the antiglare which looks a little bit like washed off to me. But still, prefer not to have reflections and the crispier pictures.................

MacBook Air :: Is The Screen Glossy Or Matte

Nov 1, 2010

I haven't made it to an Apple shop since the new MacBook Air was announced, so I haven't seen them in real life yet . Yes I know I should be more committed, but meh I have a life too !

One simple question really; is the screen glossy or matte?

I notice that there is not an option to chose whether it's glossy or matte when configuring online . My MacBook Pro is a 2007 C2D one (one of the last with the silver screen bezel) and I had them both side-by-side in the store and chose matte. I know that these days Apple call it "AntiGlare" and charge you for the privilege (and it's not just the screen that's glossy, the whole surround is black glass), but I'm definitely gonna pay the extra for it on my next MacBook Pro .

But for the MacBook Air without having an option.... I've got a bad feeling that I'm gonna order it online and then when it comes find that it's got a stupid ****ing glossy screen and all I can see when using it outside is my ugly mug in the reflection .

So yeah, on a scale of AntiGlare MacBook Pro to Glossy MacBook Pro where would you put the new MacBook Air's screen?

MacBook Pro :: "Matte" Screen: Just The Glossy Screen W/ Out The Glass?

Feb 21, 2010

I was looking at the MBPs in an Apple store and I noticed that the "matte" screen seemed to be the same display as the "glossy", just with the glass removed and a silver bezel installed.

To me it seems that Apple is charging customers an extra $50 to simply remove the glass. Anyone know if this is true?

Hardware :: Looking For A Monitor With Glossy Screen?

I was going to buy a 24" ACD but have read quite a few reports of backlight bleeding, etc, so now I'm really unsure whether it's worth splashing out 528 on one, especially as my Samsung 23" TN screen has no backlight bleeding at all.

So, can anyone recommend a good 23"-24" glossy screen? At the moment, I don't mind suggestions of either TN, IPS, etc, just chuck in your suggestions.

Hardware :: 24" Glossy IMac Screen Suitable For Pro Imaging Work?

Jan 20, 2008

As a full-time professional photographer, I use 20" iMac Intel 2GHz Core Duo machines (the original Intel iMacs), with the matte screens and maxed out with 2 gb of ram for Photoshop editing daily (CS3). I have found that the matte screens are awesome for imaging work... very accurate colors, no perceptible undesireable variation in color or brightness at different viewing angles. I've been verrry happy with these iMacs for production in my portrait photography studio.

NOW... recently I've considered upgrading one of my original 20" Intel iMacs to a current production 24" iMac for the larger screen area, 4 GB ram capability, and faster processor (filter processing!!!), but have been hesitant because of all the bad press I've read about using the glossy screens for professional color work. Complaints I've seen refer to distracting reflections of room/ambient lighting, a false, over-exagerated color saturation, un-even color/brightness across the full area of the display, light leaks, and dead pixels. What has happened to our beloved iMac?

If these criticisms are valid, I think Apple made a big mistake going from matte to glossy screens with the iMacs. I understand that Apple targets iMacs as just consumer machines... but the fact remains that a LOT of professional imaging people have chosen matte screen iMacs for professional work and the older matte screens were perfect for that.

MacBook Pro :: High Resolution Screen On 15"?

Apr 27, 2010

I am looking to pick up a 15" macbook pro and since I will be using it for coding (in both OSX and Win7) i am looking at the high res screen.

However I also want to use the machine for gaming in Windows 7 and in some cases I will probably need to lower the resoultion to get better framerates. Which resolutions are supported on this screen? I cannot find any documention on this. Also are all modes supported in Windows and does for example 1280x800 still look somewhat ok on the high res screen?

Anyone with the high res 15" model care to answer?

MacBook Pro :: Processing Power - High Resolution Screen Readable?

Apr 15, 2010

I wanted to ask for some advice on getting a new 15 inch MBP. I currently use a 2.2GHZ SR MBP with Anti Glare Screen. The computer works fine after a recent mother board change but I'm concerned about a future GPU failure. Applecare expires in June 2010. I was waiting for the refresh before buying and was wondering if I should go with the refurb 2.66GHZ MBP or a new i5 model. My priority is an anti glare screen and I notice that I would need to buy a high resolution screen in order to get that option on the new models. I'm not a power user and don't play games. My concern on the new model is that the text will be too small. How does the processing power compare on these two models and is the high resolution screen still readable for less than perfect eyes?

MacBook Pro :: 17" Text Size With High Resolution Screen

Jul 7, 2010

Macbook Pro 17" Text size issue with High Resolution screen. Just got a Macbook Pro 17 that I love except for one thing - text size on many programs. I understand the reason for it and I did not want a 15 inch as I tend to work with multiple programs at once. I am not tied to an office so that rules out buying an external screen, So I have been trying to find solutions that makes working with in different programs less of a strain on my eyes. Here are some of the workarounds I have found to programs I use and programs that I have had no luck with. And please it is not a problem with eyesight as this seems to be a common problem for many owners. I like to sit well back from my screen not 2 inches away! Or you can add a small/larger button with the customize toolbar option but there is no fix for outgoing mail. I write a lot of mail so by the end of the day I am squinting and I do not want to send all my mail in jumbo text. Here is the only fix that I found that I like.
