MacBook Pro :: Cleaning Keyboard On New Unibody (2009)?

I just got my first unibody MBP this summer and I love it! But the black _really_ shows the oil from my fingers. I was curious of what is the safest way to go about cleaning all this off.

OS X :: 2009 Alu Wireless Keyboard Numbers Not Working

Oct 3, 2010

I have a 2 month old Apple Wireless Keyboard and for some reason the numbers from 1 through to 9 have stopped working (although zero still works).

I've tried everything I can find online, but no luck: verified and repaired permissions, checked Universal Access for mouse keys etc, but can't get them working. There's no real reason for those keys not to be working but everything else to be fine. Nothing has ever been spilled onto it and it has never been mistreated in any way. It's almost as if I've somehow hit a numlock key that has stopped them working, but as far as I know it doesn't have one.

MacBook Pro :: Typing On Keyboard Make Cursor Jump Around?

Jul 19, 2007

I just got this new 17" powerbook two months ago. Everything seemed fine until this past weekend when I tried to do some work on it. No matter the program, Word, Quark etc., whenever i go to type in sentences or paragraphs, suddenly the cursor will jump to another area of the paragraph. There seems to be no consistency and I can't figure the cause.

I checked all the preferences and that doesn't seem to change it.

Could I have a faulty keyboard? Has anyone else heard of this and know what to do.

MacBook :: 2.4 Keyboard/Trackpad, - External Keyboard/Mouse Not Working

Nov 13, 2009

So my friend was using his MacBook and went to do something else. He came back and the screen was black, he hit space and nothing, tried the trackpad and nothing. He restarted by holding the Power button, and it go to the log-in screen, but he can't type anything, or use the trackpad. He has tired restarting several times and no luck. He also tried an external Keyboard/Mouse and that didn't work.

He did plug in a Flash drive and the light turned on, so the USB ports are at least getting power, but nothing is working.

PowerPC :: MacBook Keyboard Vs. PowerBook Keyboard?

Aug 14, 2006

I'm thinking of buying a MacBook but I have one reservation. I'm moving from a Powerbook 12"...

What's the consensus on the MacBook keyboard in terms of ease & comfort of use? I write for a living so a good keyboard is pretty essential. I've always been mostly satisfied with my powerbook keyboard, it's pretty comfortable although I occasionally mash a neighbouring button with my big clumsy fingers. The MacBook keyboard looks a little... weird. How is it?

MacBook Pro :: Mid-2009 Cannot Find HDD?

Dec 13, 2010

What happened: I was working late one night on a Keynote presentation. My battery ran out, and the computer did that hibernation thing it does when there's no battery power. I got my charger, connected it to my computer, and then pushed the power button. It started up for a second in to the gray screen it usually goes to. Then I turned around, tugging the magsafe charger out of the connector on the computer. This caused my computer to shut down again. Now I can't get it to boot at all.I've tried pretty much everything to deal with this. Multiple forced reboots, resetting PRAM and NVRAM, etc. I booted to original OSX disc and ran disc utility, but I discovered that there is *no disc to boot to*.

MacBook Pro :: Screen Fading MBP Mid-2009?

Nov 13, 2010

I got a 13" Macbook Pro in June 2009, and I really like the quality of the whole computer.

I just updated to OS X 10.6.5, and then I noticed a spot on my screen that looks like it's fading or ghosting. It's easiest to see when there's just light being emitted from the screen and no color, but it's always visible. I highly doubt that it's ghosting, because I never leave my screen on when I leave the computer. There are also these little black dots in rows that are visible in the fading section of the screen, but you can't see them in the attached images. I'll be able to upload higher resolution images tomorrow after noon.

Any ideas as to what this could be? I put my laptop in my backpack for school, but I'm always very careful about how I treat it and never leave it unattended. I also have no idea what that image would be if it was ghosting, because it doesn't look like anything to me.

MacBook Pro :: Difference From 2006 MBP To 2009 MBP

Mar 10, 2010

I wondered if anyone could give me an idea of what to expect when my base 13" MBP arrives soon. I currently have a late 2006 15" 2.16 C2D with 3GB RAM. Things have been going a bit dodgy for a while, battery, trackpad button, screen is not so good, so I needed something new, and more portable. My usual tasks include surfing, emailing, iTunes, iPhoto, watching avi's etc in VLC and rendering some of them for ipod use. What sort of day-to-day difference can I expect?
