MacBook Pro :: Mid-2009 Cannot Find HDD?

Dec 13, 2010

What happened: I was working late one night on a Keynote presentation. My battery ran out, and the computer did that hibernation thing it does when there's no battery power. I got my charger, connected it to my computer, and then pushed the power button. It started up for a second in to the gray screen it usually goes to. Then I turned around, tugging the magsafe charger out of the connector on the computer. This caused my computer to shut down again. Now I can't get it to boot at all.I've tried pretty much everything to deal with this. Multiple forced reboots, resetting PRAM and NVRAM, etc. I booted to original OSX disc and ran disc utility, but I discovered that there is *no disc to boot to*.

MacBook Pro :: Screen Fading MBP Mid-2009?

Nov 13, 2010

I got a 13" Macbook Pro in June 2009, and I really like the quality of the whole computer.

I just updated to OS X 10.6.5, and then I noticed a spot on my screen that looks like it's fading or ghosting. It's easiest to see when there's just light being emitted from the screen and no color, but it's always visible. I highly doubt that it's ghosting, because I never leave my screen on when I leave the computer. There are also these little black dots in rows that are visible in the fading section of the screen, but you can't see them in the attached images. I'll be able to upload higher resolution images tomorrow after noon.

Any ideas as to what this could be? I put my laptop in my backpack for school, but I'm always very careful about how I treat it and never leave it unattended. I also have no idea what that image would be if it was ghosting, because it doesn't look like anything to me.

MacBook Pro :: Mid 2009 Can Support SATA

Jul 19, 2009

with the new MacBook Pros (13" and 15" only) concerning SATA II and third party drives in many forums, such as the Apple Support forum and the OCZ forum:[URL] [URL]As I understand it, the first mid 2009 MacBook Pros supported SATA I speeds only. After many user complaints, Apple addressed the issue with a firmware update, but it seems the MBPs hardware has a problem with full SATA II speeds since many users reported issues with 3rd party drives after the firmware update.

MacBook Pro :: Difference From 2006 MBP To 2009 MBP

I wondered if anyone could give me an idea of what to expect when my base 13" MBP arrives soon. I currently have a late 2006 15" 2.16 C2D with 3GB RAM. Things have been going a bit dodgy for a while, battery, trackpad button, screen is not so good, so I needed something new, and more portable. My usual tasks include surfing, emailing, iTunes, iPhoto, watching avi's etc in VLC and rendering some of them for ipod use.What sort of day-to-day difference can I expect?

MacBook Pro :: My 2009 2.26Ghz Won't Start Up

Feb 6, 2012

My 2009 2.26Ghz MacBook Pro won't start up. I know it's not the HDD because I replaced it with the old one I had in it and it did the same thing. I also know it isn't the HDD because I can boot of of it when I attatch it via an external HDD enclosure. It sometimes turns on if I let it sit for 30 minutes and if it does turn on it works perfectly and has no symptoms until I close it then it freezes up when I wake it up and I have to hard restart it but it doesn't restart then. It seems to do this more so if I close it then move it (put it in my bag and go to school). It's getting me really upset cause if it's my motherboard it's $600 to replace (almost not worth replacing except I don't have $1400 for a new MBP) please give any advice. I thought about buying the data doubler by OWC but that would be a last resort. I upgraded the ram to 8gb, 1333mhz (I know it uses 1066Mhz but I couldn't find any where I live so I put in 1333mhz ram expecting it to underclock to 1066 which it seems to have done that with no issue to my knowledge just thought I'd add that in case though.

MacBook Pro :: Late 2009 Will Not Connect To Tv?

Mar 11, 2012

I have a Macbook pro (late 2009) and I'm trying to connect it to a fairly new Samsung LED tv. Ive tried to connect it to the tv with audio with two cables: a minidisplayport/hdmi cable and the audio jack/RCA cable. The video works just fine, but the audio is not working. The computer doesn't even recognize the tv as an audio output device. I found out that only macbook pro's made after late 2010 support audio through the HMDI cable so i was trying to find a cable that will support audio on my 2009 macbook pro.

MacBook :: Reinstall A Password In 2009?

Mar 14, 2012

I recently had Snow Leopard reinstalled on my 2009 Macbook6.1 at a Mac reseller. Immediately after the reinstall I upgraded to Lion OS X. It won't accept my new Apple ID as a login and I need a password for the sake of privacy so that only I can login and use my Macbook. I am having such a hard time with passwords now that I have had the OS cleaned and reinstalled. I wonder if this has anything to do with my recent purchase of an iPhone 4s.How do I reset th login password. I drove almost 1000km to visit an Apple Store where we reset the Apple ID and now the Macbook won't accept it. Has my Macbook been hijacked?
