If I create a smart playlist in itunes and deselect live updating then how exactly does the smart playlist load up?
The reason I ask is that started setting up Smart Playlists for all of the artists on my computer and they're all set to live update which is consequently slowing down my itunes. I realize that I may not necessarily need that. My question is though...how exactly would I go about manually updating a smart playlist that has live updating turned off?

I just bought my MacBook Pro and installed the updates... however, when I try to update my iTunes (since it says version 10.6.3 is available) but when it's almost done I get a message stating it can't be installed because the "update cannot be verified". How do I upgrade my MacBook to the latest iTunes?

Last night I decided to update to iTunes 9.1.1, via the software update prompt. It prompted me to restart my computer (laptop, Windows Vista). I proceeded to do so, but it got hung up in the log off screen for over 15 minutes. I turned off the computer and came back into the desktop. Tried to load iTunes, but it wouldn't load anymore. Tried to reinstall the software update, but now it's searching for a .msi file that I have no idea about? Anyone have any input as how I can resolve this, and have I lost all of my music in iTunes at this point?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter updating to iTunes 10.1.1 the app did not start at first so I went to download it and installed it manually. iTunes works but my boot time went from ~2 wheel turns at the boot screen to ~16. Installed the new airport update, as well. I repaired the permissions and did a PRAM reset.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac that is my main computer. I download all of my music from iTunes on that computer and update my iPhone through that computer. I also have a MacBook that I use while traveling. Is it possible to sync the iPhone to the MacBook and update the MacBook with whatever is on the iPhone (and not update the iPhone with what is on the MacBook)? The MacBook is not updated (iTunes wise) and I don't want to erase what is on my iPhone. However if I could do the reverse of this then that would be better, that way I can download songs to my iPhone as well as my iPod to update for my vehicle. If this isn't possible, is there any way to somehow get what music is on the iPhone to my iPod so I can play it in my vehicle?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo updating to iOS 4 and iTunes putting my photo's back on my iPhone, I have noticed the highest temperatures I have seen my Early 2008 17" MBP go. It is reaching temperatures up to 212 F or 100 C, but has found an average 207 F or 97 C. This is the highest I have seen my MBP go when the CPU is pegged. It usually hangs out at around 165-170 F when under load( such as Folding@home). Is this a safe temperature?

While trying to restart after downloading an iTunes update, my computer won't go past the grey screen with the apple and loading bar. When I hit command+s it says my system bootstrapper crashed. I've repaired the disk and disk permissions and it still won't load.

I noticed recently that iTunes TV passes now download only the HD version of new episodes. This works for me since I never use the SD version. Wanting to clear up some disk space I decided to delete the SD version of previous episodes (i.e., via revealing in Finder and moving to Trash unwanted SD files). However I noticed that the "HD-SD" tag for those episodes is not updated and still shows "HD-SD".Â
I've tried to "consolidate files" hoping that would update the tag, but it doesn't. I've tried quitting iTunes and reopening, but that doesn't update the tag either. I realize I can delete the episodes and re-add them, but I'd rather not do that since you also lose some information. how to get the tag updated so it accurately reflects only "HD"?Â

I recently got an iPhone 4S and when I plug it into my computer it says something along the lines of 'you need to update your iTunes so that the two can work together' and then it says 'would you like to download iTunes 10.6.1' so I click download now and then it goes to the software update. 'Looking for new software to update' and IT DOESN'T FIND ANY SOFTWARE TO UPDATE!
But then I go onto apple and dowload it manually which is fine. Then I open the dowloaded file and install it manually which is ALSO fine. After the installation is done it says 'installation complete, your installation was successful'. I have tried quitting iTunes and reopening it without turning off/restarting the computer and it didn't work, I tried restarting the computer and it didn't work, I also tried shutting down the computer completely and it still didn't work because when I went in to iTunes and clicked 'about' it still came up as V 10.2.2. I tried these on serparate occasions and have a total of five downloaded iTunes' 10.6.1s..I have checked and meet all the requirements for the software update.

So I have 102 apps that can be updated via itunes. When I go to update them they start downloading like normal. When they finish downloading the app, the update is not applied and still shows as an update available for these apps. This happens even if I try to select just one app. I have already tried logging out of my itunes account and rebooting my system, but it hasn't fixed this problem.
