Oct 29, 2010I put in a 500 GB Seagate Momentus XT HD in my 2010 15" MBP 2.66 GHz i7. I have read conflicting reports about it's effectiveness on both Macs and PCs; however I decided to try it. Overall, I have not had any major issues. Install was painless, including formatting and backup from TM. Now, last night and today, I have tried to use (1) iTunes and (2) iPhoto without the results I was seeking.
1) iTunes does not seem to even want to open correctly. It sits empty with my music tab selected. It seems more like it has frozen than anything else. All my music files are where they were before, so that hasn't changed. I have made sure it is pointing to the correct folder, which it is. I have also tried importing the library, and creating a new library all together. It runs through all the artist folders acting like it is importing them or the artwork, but then nothing ever shows up. Neither option works. When I try to navigate through iTunes, it does not happen. My apps and ringtones do not appear either, which is why I think it has something to do with locating my files, or a hiccup when displaying the lists. I tried Option-click to get my library, and that didn't work. I also deleted and reinstalled iTunes with no success.......................

Dec 6, 2014I had Mavericks previously installed on my iMac mid 2007 and was promoted to upgrade to Yosemite which I did. Now when I try to open iPhoto and it reads unresponsive in red letters on the force quit window. When I select and click force quit computer then freezes. I am however able to open iTunes but when I plug my iPod in computer then freezes.

Feb 27, 2012I just bought a 15-inch MacBook Pro with the 2.5GHz Quad-core Intel i7 Processor and the non-glare LED screen. I'm really impressed with the computer overall, which I purcahsed mostly with the intent of using for light-moderate video editing. Â
Ironically, whenever I open iMovie or iPhoto, the screen does this funny thing where it looks like it's interlacing only half of the full screen image and has a funny tint to it. Is there anything that I can do to prevent this from happening? It happens with and without the power adapter plugged it.

Jun 12, 2012I was just doing What I thought was a standard software upgrade of iPhoto when, during the restart it said something unexpected had happened or something like that and just froze. Now when I try to restart I get the white screen with the apple , then an error message "pnic(CPU 0 caller 0xfffff800064ba7b): unable to find driver for this platform: ..." and it keeps going on Another box says "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button..." when I do this, it just comes back to the same place. Â

Applications :: Weird IPhoto Message At Opening
Feb 15, 2010Everytime I open up iPhoto, I get this message that says: "A photo has been found in the iPhoto library that was not imported. Would you like to import it? No button and Yes button appear at the bottom of the message box. Sometimes it does it twice. If I say yes, then when iPhoto finishes opening up, there is an album (or two) at the bottom of my album list called "Recovered Photos" but they are empty. I have to manually go through this and then delete them everytime I open up iPhoto. I know in the grand scheme of things this doesn't harm my use of iPhoto or my existing photos, it just accumulates into being a bug and a diversion that I have to get used to dealing with. I thought I left adjusting to those buggy pains in the a$$ behind when I left Windows.

Jul 9, 2010I want to be able to open my iPhone movies in iMovie so I can edit them in there. I know that I need to import my video into iPhoto and then from there open it in iMovie, but that is where I am stuck. I can import into iPhoto, but how do I then open it in iMovie. I opened the file which opened in Quicktime and then I saved the file on my desktop and from there opened it in iMovie, but the resulting upload to Youtube was very poor quality even though it should have been 720p.

Dec 11, 2014Calibre enabled me to stop iTunes from opening every time I connected my iPad, but since Yosemite, it's now iPhoto that opens every time we're joined. I don't understand iPhoto, which never wants to do anything I want it to, so I almost never use it. Not only that, it takes an age to fully open while it tries to read photos from my iPad, the Cloud and probably from the Other Side.Â
I am guessing this might be connected with iCloud, but I want to stop it. I've looked at iPhoto's Preferernces, I've looked at a number of things in System Preferences, but so far I can't stop this automatic opening.

Aug 24, 2009I have a problem with my MacBook Pro (1st generation, Mac Os X 10.4.11, 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, 512 Mo 667 MHz DDR2, bought in Feb 2006). Since the update of safari 4.0, I had a lot of problems with my Mac. First Safari kept closing all the websites I was visiting and after that I couldn't open safari again until I reboot my mac again. This changed with the new update 4.02 (I now have Safari 4.0.3). But the big problem is that I can't open some softwares anymore. Such as Office 2004, some games and the most important ChemDraw Ultra 12. Each time, the icon jumps in the Dock and then disappears. I tried to repair my harddrive but everything was alright. I don't know what to do anymore. I never had a single issue with my computer before. I have to give back a chemical report at the end of the week for my studies and I can't use ChemDraw!

Aug 25, 2009I've recently noticed that my iTunes is lagging. Here's my situation: I swapped out the stock HDD for a 500GB 5400RPM drive. I have about 98GB free on the drive. Whenever I open iTunes (my library is 235GB), it lags considerably more than it used to. Is this because the size of the library and the speed of the drive? Is there anything I could do to alleviate this problem? I have 2GB of RAM, should I upgrade to 4GB?
