1) I had some problems after changing my acct. name, then changing it back again. I thought it was all sorted out, but then started getting an error message when I try to rip CDs in iTunes: You don't have write access for your iTunes Media folder or a folder within it. To change I tried Get Info & have RW permission, so I don't know what to do about that. Other than ripping CDs, iTunes seemed to be working fine however after a week of the above problem, it has developed something new that may be related. I can no longer use Get Info within iTunes to correct or add to entries about the albums like composer, tracks, disk, etc Perhaps that is another RW permission issue.

So here's the deal: I have a 64Gb iphone with 1GB available, and a 256Gb macbook retina with 17Gb free space.
The iphone backups are taking up a lot of space on the macbook. I looked into moving the backup files to an external drive and using a soft link to link it all together, but that's a lot more complicated than is necessary, so I just pressed option when opening itunes and created a new library on the external drive with 1TB free space (as reported by Finder).
I can verify that the computer is using the external library as when I transfer purchases, that library on the external grows in size And doesn't have any of my old content. However, when I try to back up the phone (which is around 30GB) I get the error message that itunes cannot backup the phone because there is not enough space left on the computer, even though the external disk has a terabyte left. I know it's because the macintosh hd has only 17 Gb, is there any way to get round it?

I downloaded the update on the 6th Feb, and now when I try to rip a cd to ITunes in AAC format, I get this error message: "The current encoder settings for bitrate and sample rate are not valid for this file" Now I know that everything was fine on 4th Feb, as I ripped some cd tracks in AAC format ok. The only solution I have found so far, is to go into Prefs>Advanced>importing and change to either Apple lossless or Mpeg (320), and the tracks rip fine? Can I get back to how I was, ie using AAC somehow - or has it been corrupted by the Quicktime download 7.6 on 6th Feb. I have no back up at this stage? Has anyone else had this problem?

I know that there have been applications online to grab album art from iTunes that don't work anymore, so I was wondering - if I buy 1 track from an album that I want the album art for, can I then get the high-res artwork from the track? By ripping it using tagging software or otherwise?
I don't like how iTunes tags and rips my music I want universal so I downloaded Picard to tag but for ripping what do you use?

Just ejects them. I have used this option quite a bit.I had my hard drive replaced by Apple free of charge about 2 years ago.

I was ripping in a cd which itunes identified with multiple titles & Artists, so I had to choose one. I accidentally chose the wrong one and now I can't figure out how to undo it. I've ejected and rebooted itunes, but it still identifies that cd with the wrong title&Artist that I picked. How to undo my mistake so I can rip in my cd for who it really is?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used to have iTunes and my external music library on a PC. When I got my Mac Mini, I moved the iTunes app to it and pointed to the library on the PC. After I got a back up drive for the Mac Mini, I ran the Consolidate files option. The files were consolidated into the iTunes directory on the Mac Mini. My usage of the PC became so infrequent that I finally turned it off. Now when I got to play a tune, I get the error: There was a problem connecting to the server "ukasare" (ukasare was the network name of my PC). I click OK and the tune plays. If I then stop playing the tune and double click on it again, it starts playing without giving an error message. The same is true if I do Get Info first. when running handbrake it maxes out the cpu in my sig and uses over 300% of the processor. I'm interested in the CPU usage and speed of ripping compared to the faster i5's and I'd like to see how the i7's compare as well. I don't think the speed of the hard drive really comes into play but I have the stock 5400rpm drive. Do people with SSD's notice any difference in ripping/encoding? If so, it might be time to get an SSD

I have been trying to download the app Remote from iTunes for the past two weeks without success. I had Remote installed and happily working, but earlier in the month the latest Remote update was probably broken and the app cannot be updated or re-downloaded from iTunes, the error I get is 408.
I am experiencing this both on my mac mini running Lion 10.7 and my iphone running iOS 5.1
So my mac's hard drive went out. So I bought a new one that is 160GB. I'm trying to partition it in Disk Utility, but there are a couple of problems I've run into. First, It's saying there is 1.2TB of space. I guess it's possible Western Digital put a wrong label on their drive, but that seems a bit unlikely, doesn't it? The second issue is that when I go to actually partition it, I get an error that says, "Partition failed with the error: input/output error". I have no idea what's going on, or what I should do
I'm using a Macbook w/ 10.4.11 (although strangely, that disk that came with my computer says 10.4.9, not sure how much of a difference that will make...). It is a 2.16GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo, w/ 1GB of ram, if it helps.

So my macbook is just a few days old, but i think i found something weird with the dvd drive. Its my first mac, so i dont know about this. But is it common that i have to push the whole dvd/cd inside the drive before it know its a dvd/cd there, its just a tiny bit of cd/dvd to spot before it takes it and sucks it inside. I thought, when over the half of the cd/dvd in, it sucks the cd/dvd inside automaticly. Seems weird i have to push it all inside before something happens. Is this normal? Also it makes alot of noise at the start, when it sucks it in

i just got my macbook air with the super drive.I am trying to import my original cds into itunes, butit does not let me, cause it says i dont have the privileges
or something like that. NOTE: this is my first mac, second i have the itunes media in an external hard drive, if anything has to do with it.
I have seen somewhere on the net a internal Blu-Ray drive upgrade for 17' MBPs and plently of external drives in both formats.

Recently I have been trying to burn some video_ts files ripped with MacTheRipper on to 8x Memorex DL DVD +R. I think the problem here is that my drive is only built to handle 4x speeds. I have tried decreasing the speeds in Toast this however has no effect and I still receive a drive error. I have also tried to transform the video_ts folder into multiple different types of disc images and burn them to the DL DVD from the disk utility function. The error I get from here is also a drive error
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Late 09 15" MBP and a WD 1TB external HD. I've never had a problem until now. I start up the hard drive, then it loads up fine and the Mac recognizes it just fine. As soon as I try to copy something - doesn't matter how big it is - I get an error and at the end it says "(Error code - 36)". It just says the file cannot be read or written. Weird thing is I can access everything on the hard drive. Anyone have any tips before I try reformatting the HD?
