I am having trouble installing my new espon artisan 730. When I add the printer to the print queue selection, it says that software is available from Apple for download. When I click download and install, it then tells me that the software isn't available and I can't install the printer.

I have a Macbook plastic, 2.4 GHz intel core 2 Duo with 2 GB of ram.My Mac is currently running on OS X, i used to have a 40 gig partition Windows XP, a couple of friends of mine where talking about how much they liked Windows 7 and finally i had had enough blue screens to say, sure ill switch, why not?... assuming it would not take longer then lets say a day at most, i set off on my quest.
FWI, im running an older model Macbook that was bought refurbished (not sure if that has anything to do with my problem). anyway i removed my previous partition, then using Boot Camp Assistant i repartitioned a 40 gig section for Windows 7. Then ran the installer. I have a copy of Windows 7 ultimate 86x. The Windows boot screen turned up, i had to reformat the partition so that i could install, no problems there. after all said and done the installation worked perfectly, up to a point... First problem that appeared was the lack of sound. i fixed that by downloading Realtek's High Def sound drivers.
Then it was the rest of the drivers for the macbook. heres where i run into my problem, i have the Mac OSX install discs 1 and 2. inserting the first disc the option of the auto run of the setup popped up i clicked run. and instead of the same old install drivers option all i have is the option to install the software that lets macbook airs share cd/dvd drives... needless to say i got frustrated and to put it lightly pissed off...
unsure of wtf was going on i looked it up online and really couldnt find anyone with the same problem, i found a web page saying that i should have the windows auto update itself and that should fix the problem. it did not. i dont know what the hell is going on. and im about this close to reinstalling windows xp and telling windows 7 to go **** itself...

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac G5 (Power PC) with OS X version 10.4.11. I also have an Epson Stylus Color 1160 printer and an Epson Stylus Pro 3800 printer. Last August I lost access to the Utilities in my 1160 driver meaning that I could not make nozzle checks or cleans. I was emailed a lengthy procedure from Epson that would overcome the problem. Expecting this to take some time, I delayed following the advice until yesterday. Apart from the inaccessible Utilities for the 1160, both drivers were working OK. As instructed by Epson, I removed both printer drivers and first reinstalled the 1160 driver but my Printer Setup Utility could not find it. After several fruitless e-Talk sessions with Epson I contacted Apple. They told me that I had been doing everything correctly but they discovered (through Google) that the driver for the 1160 does not work with OS 10.4.11. Knowing that I had been able to use an Epson driver before I discovered through Google that a later version was available on the American Epson site. I downloaded this and the 1160 worked fine with access to the Utilities as I needed. I then reinstalled the 3800 driver but when I attempted to use it from Photoshop it did not give me the Print Settings and Color Management options that I need. I still have these options with the 1160. I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this problem and now I have even lost the access to the 1160 Utilities again. I have run the Disk Utility First Aid many times. It shows an ever-increasing list of Permissions (all problems related to Epson) but although it 'repairs' them when I verify again they are still there. I seem to be creating more problems rather than solving them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just finished up a fresh install of Windows 7 and downloaded and installed the NVidia driver from their site directly since the one in the Boot Camp files is pretty old and technically the Vista driver anyway.
But I still need the Brightness, Sound, etc key functionality. Is there a way to selectively install Boot Camp drivers? That's the only one I need. The wireless, chipset, video and everything else works just fine (and in some cases better) than the ones included in Apple's setup.
I reattached my Epson Perfection 1650 Photo scanner to my Mac G4 (Sawtooth) desktop today after updating the drivers and all to OS 10.4, which is what is on my computer. (The updated drivers also work for 10.5, which is on my laptop, but that doesn't matter here.) When I hit the Smart Panel icon on the desktop, the computer went to Classic mode, for some reason, even though the updated software is for OS X. I was able to get a Twain window, but when I clicked on any of the options for scanning, I get a message saying that the scanner is not recognized (something about a bus). I looked at all the available FAQs at the Epson Web site, but they are not helpful or relevant. For example, one told me to turn off Scan Monitor in Extensions, but of course, there is no Extensions Folder in OS X. One other FAQ suggested reinstalling the software that came with the scanner, but that was way back when I used OS 9.2.2, so how could I then bring it up to 10.4?
Most of the other FAQs were for people with Windows, so of course, those didn't help at all. The Ready light is on; all the cables are plugged in properly. I'm ready, willing, and able. I can't get Epson support, because the scanner is out of warranty, and the Epson online helpers (private) want a good deal of money to provide an answer. Granted, I don't have to pay them unless I am not satisfied with the answer, but I'd rather not have to sell the farm, when I could get a new scanner for only about twice what they are asking to give me an answer. OR (breathlessly hoping) if I can get some ideas here. I have a lot of pages to copy and send to someone, and now I'll have to copy them manually at the local store or across town, at my mother's, and then send them through the mail. It all seemed so straightforward and simple: scan and send to the eager recipient.
I have a Epson Stylus C45 printer USB and It is not fully compatible with Mac OS X 4.4 specially ref. printing preferences, so I have searched over the internet and found a driver. I am able to choose only Standard, for example. Is there any other driver better than CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.0-rc1?

I have and old and useful printer -Epson Stylus Color 440- and just bougth a cable for connecting it to USB port. Add a new print on its Print and Scan Preference Panel and it was recognized inmediatly, but I was told there was not any driver to that printer.
Tried to set "Epson Stylus Color Series" on its driver but when I went to print, printer seemed to work but does not eject any ink. It seemed as if I were ran out of ink; its car moved over the places occupied by the photo and sounded as normal printing, but not a drop of ink. I checked on an older windows pc, and ink is full, printed normally. I also looked for its drivers on Epson pages, but it seems there are only available for previos Mac OSs, not for X.
A son told me that in his Snow Leopard MacBook White there's a dirver called "Epson Stylus Color 440 gutenprint" on his Print and Scan Driver Menu; haven't tried to print from his MacBook yet, and as I searched, those are open drivers.
I wonder if I can download and install that "Epson Stylus Color 440 gutenprint" from the web, of if there's a way to copy it from my son's Macbook, when he comes and check.

After the last software update my printer wasn't recognizing ink cartridge. So I uninstalled its software. Now I can't find its drivers anywhere. Epson's website says check your Mac software updates and doesn't offer to download the driver directly. But there are no available updates for my computer as of now. im having trouble installing bootcamp and drivers on vista for my macbook. i installed vista without problems but when i put my leopard disc in it doesnt not run the bootcamp installer instead it goes into a macbook air installer and asks for me to connect to a macbook air. what is wrong? i have done it before so i dont know why i cant do it now. should i do everything all over again?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHave just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard, but I can no longer access the print driver for our EPSON Stylus Color 3000 using the Epson StylusRIP. I can see the RIP server ok and it has installed as a printer. However neither of the two PPDs it finds (Gutenprint v5.1.3 and Gimp-Print v5.0.0-beta2) work...I think these are the native drivers rather than Postscript!
I have a copy of the PPD from the 10.4 installation (EPSON StylusCOLOR3000 v3010.106) but cannot install it. Regardless of where I put it when I try and select it with Driver>Other, it is always greyed out even though all the other PPDs are ok. Have even tried compressing it into a .gz file but it is still greyed out.
The only difference I can see is the file permissions, all the other .gz files have a Read&write permission for both "System" and "Admin", whereas my driver doesn't. However I can find no way to assign these users to my PPD file. This of course may be completely irrevelant. In fact if I copy my PPD to the desktop plus some of the other gz files from Library>Printers>PPDs>Contents>Resources, they lose the System and Admion users, yet I can still select those drivers but not mine!

Well I finally got the drivers off of the MBA install DVD (URL). Just dumped them on to a USB stick. I installed XP Pro again using bootcamp assistant without a hitch. Rebooted into XP, put the USB stick in and ran the setup.exe off of it. XP blue screened when installing Broadcam drivers it appears.

I just bought an old MacBook (the 2007 model, I believe), and I'm looking for the Windows 7 Drivers.
Here are some details on the laptop:I installed OS X Snow Leopard, Windows 7, and Ubuntu on the laptop.
I did not use Boot Camp. I manually installed the OSs and 'm using the rEFIt bootloader.
I do not have an OS X installation DVD. I installed Snow Leopard by using a disk image I obtained and made bootable by using Disk Utils and an external hard drive.
realised that my previous post was in the wrong section, (sorry!) so i decided to re-post it in the correct place.
Ok, so i setup bootcamp and installed windows xp. installed the bootcamp drivers, and things worked fine for a couple of days.... than the bootcamp appeared to get corrupted. fn keys cant work, xp cant detect mac partition (cant access any files in there, though the reverse works), no bootcamp icon in system try. someone mentioned to search for the KbdMgr.exe or bootcamp and start the program, but i cant find both items.
re-installation of bootcamp with the cd doesnt seem to work for me. either the system restarts before installation is completed, or xp crashes during the installation process. EDIT: now all i get is xp crashing before installation is complete
downloaded the bootcamp 2.1 but absolutely nothing happens when i click on the exe file!
there are a bunch of apple drivers shown in the add/remove programs, but they dont seem to be working (tried to remove them all and re-install, but xp crashed halfway and i had to use the cd to repair it). seems to me all that the drivers are 'there' already, but not working.
short of completely starting over from scratch and re-installing the entire windows, is there anything else i can try?
Because I am getting tired of constant BSOD when playing my games, I am contemplating doing an re-install of xp but bare boned. By that I mean just installing xp sp2 and just update sound and video drivers. Will I be able to do it? Do I need to manually install the wireless card or will windows pick it up? I've tried updating drivers and removing known apple drivers with issues, but in the end I cant get away from BSOD.

I installed Windows and I am now struggling to install the bootcamp drivers.
I run the 2.1 installer and nothing happens at all. nada, no error messages etc.
I presume that this is some problem with SP3, but I have SP3 integrated so I can't install SP2 , install bootcamp and then install SP3, unfortunately..
I've tried three times to install Bootcamp drivers on my Windows 7 partition and all times have failed with a mini BSOD that says "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" a couple seconds after it's done installing the ATI drivers and it's just a green bar with no text above it. I couldn't read the rest of the BSOD because it goes away in 2 seconds. Any help/fix for this would be appreciated. I'm thinking of just reinstalling the 2.0 drivers but I really want access to my Mac side while in Windows.

I have no idea where to install the drivers, on the Mac side or on the Windows side. I tried to install the driver updates for Windows 7 64 bit on the Mac side and when I clicked on the down load the preview window was garbage gobbi speak.
The only thing legible in English was at the top it said for Windows 32 bit. I clearly clicked twice on the download link for 64 bit. Before I go any further would someone be kind enough to direct me to the proper install for the drivers telling me which partition to do the updates, Win side or Mac side? I installed Win7 from a new install. This was not an upgrade disc. Also have Office 2010 installed.
have legit snow leopard dvd with boot camp 3.0
if i run the boot camp setup in win 7, it says my laptop doesn't support x64.
if i install the .msi it says i don't have the elevated privileges to do it.
if check the properties of the .msi the option to run the program as an administrator is grayed out
if i change the user account settings to eliminate the prompt to run as admin and then reboot, i still cannot open the damn installer because it says i need the priviliges.
I've bought and installed into my computer the NVidia GeForce GTX 285 1GB for Mac, it's a great card, I'm on Windows 7 at the moment, if I install the WHQL 186 drivers, will it affect anything on the Mac side? does it manipulate the card or do anything that would make it windows only or damage it etc..?
