MacBook Pro :: Installed Windows 7 Now Unable To Switch To Mac OS X
Sep 3, 2014
I have installed windows 7 on my mac. Now, I am not able to switch to Mac OS X. I tried to restart my mac book and holing ALT key and I tried to restart in OS X by- right Click on boot camp, I Can not find Mac OS XI find it strange when I open boot Camp Control Panel I can not see Mac OS X in "select the system you want to use to start up your computer".
When I was installing Windows 7- I deleted some partition Disk, is this the causing an issue??
If this is causing an issue is there an alternative or someway where I can log into my MAC OS X back.
I installed vista 64 went ok but now the computer defaults to vista and in windows there is no bootcamp icon to return it to mac, is there something I can install to get this to work, possibly the second Mac system disk would help? Also where do I get the drivers needed for vista. I have a Mac Pro 2.26 8 core.
Installed a new 750GB drive into my MacBookPro 5.1 Couldn't get Winclone to make image so I was forced to start from scratch with a new XP installation.
My MBP is partitioned 25%Mac & 75%XP with bootcamp and I have the old drive in a enclosure connected with a firewire. So all of old files are on the external drive now.
After installing XP I have no internet connection, drivers etc... However if I boot up on the mac side everything works fine. (I cloned the mac os already with Carbon copy).
So can I just copy all my old drivers over to the new drive? If yes how and if no how do I get them installed on the new harddrive. The MBP came with everything preinstalled.
My new MBP 2010 won't use Intel HD graphics, it seems stuck on the 330M graphics card with no programs running at all. I also checked the power saver option for auto-switching graphics.. What to do?
It worked before I calibrated the battery, but today when using the MBP for the first time since calibrating it won't switch.
I cannot get my macbook pro to switch on.when it is not plugged as I press the power button nothing happens, when the computer is power plugged, it gives me the white blackground with the apple centered and the loading button below but it keeps loading forever left it as for 4 hours and still nothing. I have try to reset the SMC but didn't change much, now instead of the apple logo I get a circle crossed My macbook is 1 year and 4months?
I just installed windows on my macbook Pro, but i could only install it on the. Boot camp driver. Cuz thats the only one that would format to NTFS. Now that i installed windows, i cannot switch back to osx. If i didnt delete or completely remove osx, will someone please tell me how i can get back to osx. Yes, i tried to f6 it and see if i can switch back but osx isnt even listed on there. So my question again, did i completely remove osx?
If I select from the menu bar another available wireless network (one without a password for example) and then switch back to my own wi-fi network, am I still safe?
Did the fact that I connected to another network present any risks?
I did not send any private info during that time, any risks of getting hacked?
i opened a page which should have allowed me to download a mock TOCFL exam (that's the standardized Chinese exam in Taiwan), but instead i just got a page of gibberish and since then skype won't let me close it, also while closing tabs there's no longer an x to click, instead i have to right click and then close it that way. anyone know what's going on here? also since safari won't switch off, i have no way of trying to deinstall and then reinstall it...
I was wondering if any has installed windows 7 on their macbook air 2010 yet? I have the 13' base model with 2gb and am a little hesitant on installing it. Can anyone share their experiences please.
^^ Basically says it. I just installed Leopard today and plugged my touch in for the first time since then. Itunes won't detect my iPod though. iPhoto tries to import pictures from it and it charges but iTunes won't detect it.
So, I have a 13" white MacBook that is about three years old. Recently, the Combo Drive stopped reading CD-Rs (possibly all discs in general, but I only ever use it to burn CDs, so I wouldn't have ever known), so I decided to try to install a new Super Drive myself.
Following a guide on [URL], I installed the new drive, but when I turned my computer back on, it was not recognizing the drive at all. System Profiler was saying "This system does not contain any ATA devices. If you have any ATA devices installed, check that they are connected and powered on." I was then able to reinstall my old Combo Drive, which my computer recognized immediately. Thinking that I may have just not connected something tightly the first time, I tried a second time. Same thing happened.
So, my question is, is there anything I may be missing or does this definitely mean the drive is defective? I just want to make sure I'm not sending back a functional drive before I go ahead and do so.
I had FCP open and I was 'log and transferring' a bunch of footage from P2 cards to my RAID. While that was busy working I was surfing the web in FF and listening to tunes via itunes. I had itunes mini player open. I wanted to see more info about a song and tried hitting the green button to maximize. Nothing happened. So I try command+tab but I get a 'bonk' sound and I don't switch apps. I though it was odd that even when I clicked on itunes the menu bar still said firefox.
Next I did the good 'ol command+option+esc to see if itunes was 'not responding'. this is what I see: Odd... no apps appear here even though I had 3 open not including Finder. So I go to my dock and click on finder and I get this dialog box:
So I tried going up to the Apple icon and chose shutdown. I clicked OK and waited and the machine never shut down. I had to to a hard shutdown. Upon restarting all is right with the world again. It's just weird that I have never run into anything like this in all this time and this new machine as been working perfectly since the day I got it.
It doesn't power on at all not one sign of life. Nothing went "pop" and I have changed the power cable too so its not that. Is there anything I can do or has it bit the dust?
I have a macbook pro that is just a few weeks old. It came with a 500GB disk, exchanged it to a 120GB SSD disk. I installed OSX and windows and it worked fine for a few weeks. Then I burned an ubuntu 10 x86 cd. I shut the machine down and was going from windows to osx so I had the alt button pressed down while starting the machine. It took a while, but after that I got a folder with a question mark. I booted with a windows cd in, and it never reaches anything, just loading windows and freeze.
I booted ubuntu with the cd I burned and it finds a disk but sais its unparitioned. I have booted osx installation dvd and it also finds the disk but sais its unpartitioned. Repair drive is grayed out. I'm a windows admin and know my way around windows, I have just worked with mac for a few weeks so I am not familiar what I can do and what repair tools there is for the mac filesystems.
I'm curious if you can install windows 7 or any windows for that matter on the hdd installed in the optibay and boot via bootcamp?
Has anyone tried this and if so does it work well?
I decided to keep my 15" mbp as today is the last day for the exchange so I'm going to go ahead and install the optibay and stick my 500gb hitachi drive in there.
I recently installed Windows Vista Home Basic through BootCamp on my MacBook Pro. Everything works fine, except for the one thing that there's no sound... At the moment if i start something with sound, you'll see "the green bar jump up and down" But no sound... Tried to search for an audio driver, and installed one, (not sure which one it has to be though) But it didn't help...
Have tried uninstalling the whole lot and reinstalling it again, same thing happened, when i put in the Max OS x for the driver installation i recall it saying removing Realtek Audio or something, so search for that, but didn't help :/
I just installed boot camp and windows on my new imac. Everything seems to be working great. I noticed, however, that on the mac keyboard there is not an "insert" button or a "num lock" button. Is there a link or manual to figure out which buttons I can use for the windows apps?
I went to install XP on boot camp and I accidentily installed it on the wrong partition, so the drive that had leopard on it is now formatted to NTFS and I cannot format it back. I beleive all my data is still on because there is a lot of used disc space. I want to convert it back to HFS without the loss of data, as I have important information on the hard drive that I do not want to lose. I know this is my own fault because I wasn't paying close enough attention to where I was installing Windows
I installed Windows 7 to my macbook pro simply using the boot camp assistant, then again simply I deleted the windows partition. I cannot access to windows but every time I open my mac, it tries to open windows and a black screen comes, saying that I need to insert a disc or something like that.
I have a new Macbook Pro. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate and Microsoft Office Pro with Bootcamp. I run these with Parallels desktop. Since I am using Parallels, 7, and Office, do I need an antivirus? If yes, which is the best route to go?
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Windows 7 Ultimate, Office 2010 Pro
Is it possible to switch the control key to the command key in Windows? I am so used the to CMD shortcuts, and hate having to move my finger to CTRLI downloaded a program to edit the registry, but it didn't change the command key, just the control key. So I had two keys that were assigned to the left command button. I cannot remember the name of the program for the life of me.
I've been using the Windows 7 beta and it's incredible. No random Vista slowdowns, User Account Control works just right, and everything worked out of the box. And I love the new task bar. Since it's a new installation (on a better computer, too) it seems even faster than XP and even OS X. So now that many of you have had experience with the beta, do you think the final product will be enough to make you switch back to Windows? And if you've been a Mac user all your life, will you cross to the "dark" side?
I have an 15" i5 MBP and I run XP on it for some games. I like to run most things on an second monitor but when I play games full screen it defaults to the display on the MBP. How do I mirror my displays or make my second monitor my main display?
I have a Logitech webcam that I want to share between a Mac mini with lion and a windows 7 desktop. I used to be able to share using a Belkin peripheral switch. But I can't use it in lion because it runs on PowerPC. Any ideas for a replacement for it so I don't have to take out the USB cord on the camera every time I want to switch computers?
