I'm curious if you can install windows 7 or any windows for that matter on the hdd installed in the optibay and boot via bootcamp?
Has anyone tried this and if so does it work well?
I decided to keep my 15" mbp as today is the last day for the exchange so I'm going to go ahead and install the optibay and stick my 500gb hitachi drive in there.
I searched for a while trying to find the answer but did not find it. I just installed Vista Business via Bootcamp. I am not able to access the internet or anything. If I read the help stuff right I need to use the OSX install disk to install the drivers. The problem is, I don't have the install disk. Is there any other way to get the drivers? Or am I just missing something easier?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Windows Vista Home Basic through BootCamp on my MacBook Pro. Everything works fine, except for the one thing that there's no sound... At the moment if i start something with sound, you'll see "the green bar jump up and down" But no sound... Tried to search for an audio driver, and installed one, (not sure which one it has to be though) But it didn't help...
Have tried uninstalling the whole lot and reinstalling it again, same thing happened, when i put in the Max OS x for the driver installation i recall it saying removing Realtek Audio or something, so search for that, but didn't help :/
Any ideas to would i could try to do?
I've got an SSD in the HDD space, and a newmodeus HDD bay in the optical drive (same thing as the optibay). So what I was thinking was to install windows in a partition on the 500gb HDD. My SSD is only 80GB so I wanted to save space on that. Here is what I have tried:
Macbook set up with SDD and HDD, no optical drive.
Bootcamp will not let me install windows using an ISO image, needs a CD to install.
So I put my HDD in the HDD bay and put the optical drive back in. I then started up the macbook using a firewire drive (HDD has no OS on it, only the SDD does). Bootcamp then tells me it can't partition an external disk and I have to boot up using an internal disk (even though I WANT to partition the internal disk... bootcamp wouldnt let me get to that option running off a firewire drive). It seems like the only thing left is to just install windows on an SSD partition.
I have a new Macbook Pro. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate and Microsoft Office Pro with Bootcamp. I run these with Parallels desktop. Since I am using Parallels, 7, and Office, do I need an antivirus? If yes, which is the best route to go?

I installed Vista into my mac pro without going through bootcamp so i don't have have an mac OS installed but now my question is..
do i just need to load a mac OS cd and boot from that and i would be able to installed over my Vista installation and install the mac OS?
I have Macbook Pro With OS X. I am new to mac. I try to use bootcamp and make a 32 gb partition in my mac. And I put a CD of XP in cd drive when it restart it show me no bootable disk found something like that on a black screen. Then I restart again and press and hold c key nothing happen. After that I try to hold my option button and I saw a grey screen with a harddisk but unable to find the cd icon same story with windows 7 and vista dvd but when I try to use Mac OS X cd that come with bundle. It show me the icon of mac cd on grey screen near the hard disk icon when I hold the option button. I also check the cd and dvd on a windows boot perfectly. And when I insert disk in mac it works fine and also shows the icon of cd and dvd on mac desktop. I would like to have XP and mac OSX on my laptop.

However when running the mac, XP loads up automatically. I can not seem to get the mac to start up. I done everything by the book, why is this happening? how do I fix? I've installed the Boot Camp drivers that came with the Snow Leopard dvd. Then after everything is installed, I look in the Apple Software Update program for the 3.1 Boot Camp-Update. I try to install this, but during installation several errors pop-up from the bluetooth, trackpad and keyboard driver.
After restarting the laptop, I can't use the functions (like brightness, volume,...) on the F1-F10 buttons anymore. The only solution to make it work again is to reinstall Windows. System Restore or trying to install the original Boot Camp drivers doesn't work. I thought this was just some corrupt download so I reinstalled Windows, but the problem still occurred. I then did it again, but still.
Just installed Win 7 on MBP13 in bootcamp. I am going to install Parallels next and point the VM to bootcamp OS so I can choose. I'll likely run Parallels mostly, but may need to boot from bootcamp once in a while for native speed. If I install the aps in the bootcamp OS, can the VM in Parallels access them? Or do I have to install them again in the VM?

1. Use boot camp assistant to make a windows partition.
2. Mount the windows .iso file in fusion and set the bios (F2 during virtual machine boot) to boot from the virtual dvd-drive.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI got the Windows RC1. I installed it perfectly with bootcamp on my macbook pro, no problems, no issues. On that install I partitioned the one and only drive in the notebook. I then went to install it on my Desktop mac pro. I wanted to allocate a complete drive to it, so I dropped in a WD blue in the 3rd bay. Formatted it, I tried both ways. Partitioning & dedicating the entire drive to windows 7. Neither worked. It started the install everything seemed normal until you get to the prompt screen to format the boot camp disk.

Can i install windows 7 via bootcamp (on my MB Air) while using remote disc? I put the windows 7 disk in my macbook pro drive, and connect to my brand new macbook air via remote disk. In bootcamp (on my air) i allocate the partition, then i click install, and bootcamp will not see the disk from my macbook pro's drive. How do i get the bootcamp assistant running on my MB air to automatically find the disk in my macbook pro with the ISO image of windows 7? The remote disk on my air can find the cd but bootcamp will not begin installing it. Anyway to do this without buying the damned usb drive?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there is anyway to pretty much copy a Vista partition on a Thinkpad T500 (university Laptop) onto a bootcamp partition, I would need to clone it because my university doesn't give us install discs, they load the OS on the laptop's as a image with all the program specific software, this would help because then I can use my mac for both OSX and class work.
