When I am in safari and go to a site, I now do not have a place to "search". I accidentally lost the original page that appears when going to safari. How do I get back to my original "start-page" that I started with?
View 1 RepliesI am unable to use the search window on the right to get results when Google is selected as the search engine.I type in a search term and I am directed to a blank google search page. I have to type in the search term again, then I see a list of "hits". But when
I click on one of these hits I am not directed to the URL displayed. I have quit out of Safari and relaunched. I have rebooted my Mac. Neither changes the problem... This is a Google problem: I have the same symptoms when I use Safari on Windows XP. When I switch the search engine to Bing, the problems go away, for both platforms Has Google been hacked? Is this a Google attack on Safari? How can I enter GoGoDuck as a search engine choice?

when i search something in the website bar (the bar of the website URL) why does it search on bing, i want to change the search engine to google but i don't know how. when i change the settings in preferences it only changes the websites for tabs and homepage. how do i change it from bing to google? i have a macbook pro, fully updated,. the problem is on safari.

Hard to believe I can't resolve this. And there's probably a very simple solution, but even after doing an extensive search on the web I can't seem to find it.

Using the above, when I try to relink to files that are definitely the same type and size (WAVs or AIFFs only), the process SEEMS to work; the progress bar to confirm matching file goes through, file name disappears from the link search window and at the bottom it says (when searching for 1 file) Matched: 1 out of 1.
But nothing changes, still just red empty clips in Event Browser and Timeline. I've tried deleting original file references / aliases from the Original Media folder, tried linking to the new file from various older folders, tried changing the names of files, just nothing. I've trashed preferences with Preference Manager. Is this some bug they left behind in Mountain Lion because they think we should all be in Mavericks by now? I'm afraid to upgrade to 10.1.1 anyway with some older projects I still need to use - and I have other reasons to wait as well.
I accidentally deleted an Apple generated Genius mix. Is there any way to get it back ? To be clear,this is not a list I created by clicking on the genius icon.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an external HD full of music and whenever I want to play one, I just search for it in finder and drag&drop it to iTunes. However, I'm having issues with it on my new MacBook Air. Whenever I search the drive for files, they appear normally, but I can't drag them! Highlighing works OK, so does double-clicking or cmd+O, but I can't move them to a playlist. It's the same with any files, not just .mp3s - they cannot be dragged out of the finder window. Scrolling is also wonky, but moving between files using arrows works fine.
note that this works perfectly fine when searching the computer's HD.
Is this a glitch of some sort, or is the computer preventing me from doing it for some reason? I'm running 10.9.3 with all the updates; the HD is a 1TB Transcend, ExFAT formatted.

Is there anyway to change the Safari search bar to use (URL) I know you can change between Google,Yahoo & Bing but I can't see a way to change it to search (URL) instead of (URL) when you are using it.

I've been using the same PC for the last 10 years, currently on windows XP, been waiting for a while to make the switch, new apple OS is out, new MacBook Pro look is out, but the current hardware version has been out since June. So I am looking to get a macbook pro 17inch matte, would love to get SSD drive but for the price and storage, I plan to get the 7200rpm HDD 500GB HDD instead. So long story short, what is the current processor is apple using on the macbook pro, and which ones should we expect at the next update? And is there a big difference between each processor. I don't do graphic design, I plan to use it for mostly for web browsing, chatting, watching high quality videos, storing my pictures, just the basic stuff.

recently a friend of mine offered to update my 2009 MacBook to Mac osx Lion. when I received the computer back from him, it required a rather large update that has put my MacBook in a terrible state.
upon rebooting from the update, it froze at the grey Apple loading screen, and of course I thought nothing of it and gave it a little restart. Since then I cannot get it past the grey screen or the login window. it seems as though I cannot type in my password or click 'sleep' or any option the window gives me. I've been working on this issue all day, and I've tried countless things from the apple support community, with no avail.
I've tried clearing the cache, I've tried safe mode, I've tried the command+option+control+enter trick on the login page, I'm even trying to boot from the install disc my friend gave me...and it's just refusing to move past the grey screen.

Something I've done in the past few days has caused Safari to not change color for visited links "only" on Google search pages, which is where it's most needed. This is still working fine on FireFox. I tried creating another user account and it works fine with that. Just not with my primary account. I've done all the typical things. repaired permissions, repaired disk, completely reset Safari to default and made sure all caches, etc. were cleaned out. Both manually and with Onyx, reset associated .plist files, history, cookies, private browsing. Returning to a Google search page still shows all visited links as blue, as if they'd never been visited.
Another clue is if I log out of my Google account (which I have to be logged into 24/7 for Gmail, Google bookmarks, iGoogle, etc., it starts working, then stops working as soon as I log into my Google account again. I posted this on Google Groups but got no response. This also works fine on my wife's Mac, so it's definitely a problem just in my user account. I know I could just add a new account and use that, but it would mean re-installing all 70 applications I have now installed as they're not setup for use except with my account. I'd like to avoid that and find the actual culprit. BTW, this worked fine for a long time. Just quit working about a week ago, but it wasn't in conjunction with any new hardware or software.
I am looking to create an Apple Script to search through the console log for a certain string of text, but am not having much success. Specifically, I would want the script to search through the system log, and if it finds a string of text it would use the say command to say that it found the string. Conversely, if it does not find the search string it would use the say command to say it didn't.

How can I change the default window size of the Finder window? When I expland the box, finish doing my business and close it and then reopen a new finder window (after restarting my computer for example the window goes back to the original size). View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new iMac and backed up from Time Machine. Everything is fine apart from Apple Mail, which no longer searches my Gmail archive. The archive is still there, all 33,000 messages, but just not searchable.
So, for example, if I got an email from a guy called George a month ago, when I search 'George' nothing comes up. I can manually go to the Archive and find the email but obviously that takes a lot of time.
Is this an Apple issue or a Gmail issue? Given that I run the same account on my laptop and it's all working fine, plus it was working fine before, I would assume it;s an Apple fault.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I open the force quit window, it fills my entire screen, and it is larger than the screen of the TFT monitor that I am using from time to time. How can I change its size back to original? The window is not resizable by dragging its border or clicking the green plus button in the title bar.
I don't know how the window got this size in the first place. All I know is that it happened during a crash where I closed a lot of other windows and where I accidentially clicked the green plus button of the force quit window instead of the red x.
