MacBook Pro :: Screen Comes Out With White Fuzzy Lines Going Across The Screen?
May 9, 2012My mac screen is frozen with white fuzzy lines going across the screen. I shut it off and turn it back on but it still remains white fish lines on the start up screen. I've tried revolting it, it works sometimes but now its stuck at the starting screen. I have been at this for 2 hours to try and fix it but nothing has changed about the screen.

Aug 27, 2010Since yesterday, my screen has been acting really wierd. Every few hours, the screen goes all fuzzy with a bunch of white lines on it, and it becomes completely unusable. It only happens for a few seconds each time (fortunately, it's fine right now), but it's kinda got me worried because I need to keep this computer for 2 more years before getting a new one, and I can't afford to fix it. I can't stop using it because I need it for school, so if it breaks, I'm completely screwed.

Nov 28, 2006My brother's ibook (14", 1.33 Ghz, 1.25 GB RAM, 10.3.9) recently developed a problem: when he would open it, the screen would show fuzzy lines for a few seconds before "stabilizing." He tried to live with it, but it got progressively worse. Now, the lines never disappear, and the screen flickers as well.

Feb 2, 2010I own a MacPro1,1 that has a Geforce 7300 GT running on it. That video card comes with one Dual-Link DVI port, and anonther that is Single-Link. I just bought a Dell 30" 3008WFP monitor that has a max resolution of 2560x1900.
When I first connected, it worked great. I was getting the max res; life was good. Then I started getting this random green fuzzy screen that would come and go at whim. I couldn't reproduce it, and worse was I have not figured out a way to get rid of it. Early on, just unplugging and replugging in the cable worked. Then that stopped working. Rebooting stopped working. Once i was able to get the green to go away by powering down the display and powering it back up. Yes, totally random.
Here are some more facts:
1. Setting a lower resolution doesn't rid me of the green fuzz effect.
2. If i connect to the same monitor using the single-link DVI port, everything works great, but only reaches 1920X1600 (as expected).
3. Connecting to different monitor using the Dual-Link DVI port works fine, albeit that the other monitor has a lesser max resolution.
4. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and I have all my software updates in place.
5. I've attached a screenshot of what this looks like.
Final Cut Pro :: Working With Screen Capture Footage - Looks Compressed And Fuzzy
Aug 2, 2006I purchased Snapz Pro X to record screen capture footage for a project I am doing. After recording the .mov files I imported them into FCP and edited together a sequence along with music and titling. Unfortunately in the output video the footage looks compressed and fuzzy. I have the project resolution set to an HD setting, but I'm still getting a fuzzy looking screen shot. What is the proper way to import screen captures into FCP and how do I export them without loosing resolution.

Applications :: Trying To Create A Resume In Pages '08, But The Header On The Resume?
Apr 24, 2009I am trying to create a resume in pages '08, but the header on the resume template is way too big for my purposes. I would like to shrink it so I can fit ~ 2 more lines of text onto the first page.
I have tried
1. exporting it to word
2. clicking everywhere in on the page
3. shrinking the line spacing between subheaders and sections, but it was not enough.
4. swearing
Is it possible to make the spacing of the header smaller, or am I just sol?
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Top Of Screen Greyed Out On Resume From Sleep
Feb 11, 2012When I resume from sleep the top half of the screen is grey'ed out and it won't go away without going through Shut Down. Just restarting has no effect.
FYI Just had a look at the sgcreenshot now that its been uploaded and its considerably brighter than the actual screen. In reality the top menu bar is almost completely occluded and the tone graduates out from about 90% black at the top to around 10% black at the centre of screen.

MacBook :: Display Colors Fuzzy - VGA Card?
Oct 22, 2010I was given a Macbook 5.2 2009 Early, with nvidia 9400m because it has a little problem and the previous owner has taken another one. Basically, the display colors are fuzzy. I already tried the CTRL ALT CMD 8 but does not change much. I tried resetting the PRAM by holding down ALT + CMD + R + P at startup and waiting for the second sound before leaving, but nothing happened. I tried to re-install the operating system, but no way. I cannot try it on an external monitor, but using teamviewer this is the result, you see everything perfectly. The image also shows colors comparison. Could that be the display data cable? Display itself? VGA card?

May 4, 2010I have a 15" 1st gen UMBP and I've been having some issues with the sound. At first I thought I had blown my speakers, but it was such that I couldn't tell if I was just imagining it or if they were actually blown. Some of the beats and bass were kind of fuzzy and subdued. I had resigned myself to the fact that my speakers were blown and went on with my life, figuring I would get it checked out sometime. Then, last night I tried to listen to some music with my headphones (nice sennheisers) and it was clear that the bass was blown. At first I thought I had also blown my headphones, but then realized that it was probably my sound card (I don't know too much about sound cards).
I tested my headphones using my roommate's laptop, listening to the same songs and switching my headphones between computers, and it became clear that my headphones were working just fine and could handle deep bass and beats as normal. So: I'm pretty sure this means that the problem lies in my soundcard, leaving me with a couple questions:
1) How expensive of a fix is this going to be?
2) would a faulty or damaged soundcard be covered under apple's limited one year warranty?

Jul 21, 2010I actually don't know how long I've had this problem, as I just sort of noticed it one day (it's not all that readily apparent). The title of this thread basically says it all. There's a "fuzzy," thin white(ish)/translucent band that stretches horizontally across my 15'' glossy MacBook Pro display (purchased in early 2010, so I guess it's considered a mid 2009 model), about an inch up from the bottom of the bezel. It's only super noticeable on top of relatively neutral colors. I'm quite certain that it's a hardware issue, as it doesn't appear in screenshots. I've attached a photograph to this thread so you can see it for yourself.. the band I'm talking about is just above the mouse pointer (and clearly my dock is hidden so you can see it easier). If there are any hardware savvy people here, I'd be most appreciative if you could clue me in to the exact nature of the problem, and whether or not you think I could fix it myself... I think my basic 1 year warranty is still good, but I haven't decided if the problem is worth living without my mac for a few days (or weeks? this is my first apple computer, so I don't know how long repairs typically take).

MacBook Pro :: Staying Awake When Lid Closed - Unable To Resume When Opened
Sep 1, 2010When my screen is closed the computer continues to run, and does not respond when the monitor is reawakened. Furthermore, upon shutdown, I have to remove the battery and reset power management in order to get the computer to turn on. If I just shut it down, the computer refuses to come on, hearing the hard drive make its sound before just going out to lunch.
Disk Utility says the hard drive is okay because it would not get past the black screen.

Mar 27, 2012I have two annoying issues and hopefully one of you can help. i have looked around and cannot find an answer to my question, especially my second one (which i think is connected to the first one). I am using Safari 5.1.3 and OS X 10.7.3. One of the accounts works perfectly, the other has two issues:
1 - Safari will always start with the same set of old windows, even closing some of them and then reopening safari will always get us to the same old set of windows. I understand the (new) standard behavior is that if i open windows A, B and C and then quit Safari, at reopening it will open the same windows A, B, and C. If i now proceed to close window (or tab) C and then quit Safari at the next opening i shouldbe presented with A and B only. This is not the case for me, i am presented still with A, B, and C. I can add to the windows but not subtract. Clearly something is wrong here. Thoughts?
2 - Trying to debug problem 1 i decided to close all the winodws in Safari, then in System Preferences-General uncheck the "Restore windows when ..." and so i hoped that closing Safari and reopening would get me to just the homepage, but this was not the case and i was presented with the same old set of windows. This is easily explained by the fact that under system prefs-general the box i had unchecked was still checked. It lets me uncheck it but does not retain it.... I obviously tried rebooting to no avail.
