My 13" Macbook Air (Late 2011) takes forever to resume from sleep. The screen is almost instantly on, but my mouse and keyboard will not function for another 10-15 seconds, anyone else have this problem? It's very annoying as the MBA's claim to fame is a two second resume from sleep.

I've got a 1.5 GHz 15" PowerBook G4 with 2 GB RAM. Despite its age, this machine is quite good and, though slowly, does everything I need it to do. Within the past week or so, it's suddenly decided to take a very long time to go to sleep... about a minute or so. It does not matter whether or not I simply close the lid or give it the sleep command from the Apple Menu. Before this happened it took the computer about 1 second or so to get to sleep mode.

I have a macbook pro mid 2012 non-retina (2.6 GHz Intel core I7 processor, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3) . I installed mavericks 10.9.4 and windows 7 through bootcamp. Almost every time I have to restart the computer, in order to use Windows, it just takes forever to do so. It is permanently stuck in the grey screen with the loading icon and eventually I have to shut it down manually.

When I empty the trash in Lion it takes forever. There are 15000 -20000 files in the trash. They look to be coming from the Time Machine backups. Everytime I clean them out they come back.

I have one of the fastest macs available at the moment with full RAM and this new update is crippling my machine. I first dealt with the audio plug ins issue - then deleted those - now I have full functionality BUT - an incredibly slow export time on a 7 minute timeline. This thing should be zippy. I think this update is not so great.

-Originally planned on mainly using Windows, so I partitioned the drive to 750gb for Windows and the rest for OSX
I eventually got fed-up with certain things about both Windows and certain limitations/glitches within Bootcamp itself and decided it was time to go OSX, and use the machine properly in all it's Apple glory.
I removed the 750gb of the Windows 7 partition, restoring the whole thing back to OSX. At this point, my computer seemed to be working fine still- OSX would boot up in about a minute or so, nothing that seemed out of the ordinary. After that, I still wanted a small partition with Windows 7; so I partitioned 100gb of my drive and proceeded to install Windows 7. During the Windows 7 installation, as had happened the first time I installed Windows 7 with Boot Camp, I got the "Black Screen" issue. Uploading my site to my computer (also to my husband's iPhone -- the newest model) takes forever, the slide-show won't work most of the time -- as if it's frozen, clicking on individual images, does not work repeatedly. It is as if the sit has uploaded incorrectly. When I re-load (exit the site and attempt again) because the uploading icon is spinning, it takes, again, much too long and the problem is not corrected. The assistent created a new user account.It wasn't nessesary because I will be the only one to use this computer. The process of removing (not only the user, but also the 45gig home folder) takes forever... Now more than 24hours and I can't shut down system preferences.Can I interrupt this process, without affecting my admin account, and re-delete the user in the normal way? (Without the safe-option that overwrites 30 times the things I want to delete) And how? I know it's best to leave it alone, but time is a factor.

my work computer (Windows), but my 2012 iMac that I've had for 2 years has worked flawlessly up until recently. A few days ago it started taking forever to display files in finder. I had to keep relaunching, and it would freeze. I tried the workaround that was posted here but that didn't work either. It went away for a few days, but last night it really came back with a vengeance. The relaunch finder trick only showed the current folder, while navigating to other folders would simply show the loading icon forever. Â
Also, my iMac was shutdown for over an entire day yesterday, and when I turned it on the " Your computer restarted because of a problem". came up. I've never experienced this problem before, but after 3-4 tries it finally logged in to the Home screen. This is when I noticed the above (finder problems) returning from a few days ago after being absent. The finder issues continued, so I restarted the mac, and it just kept cycling over and over (reboot, try to load, auto-reboot, etc.).
Is this an issue with the HDD? I did a disk utility check the other day and it said everything was in great shape.

I've got a question regarding my Magic Mouse and Keyboard power consumption. I want to keep my iMac awake a lot of the time despite being away from my desk. Even if the iMac is awake will my Magic Mouse still go into its power saving mode regardless of what the iMac is up to? Same with the Keyboard?

When I try to "wake" the G5 from sleep with either the mouse or keyboard, it wakes up, and simply goes back into sleep mode, however, if I "wake" the G5 from the power button it remains awake.

I like putting my imac to sleep. Unfortunately I have a cat that moves the mouse and steps on the keyboard while I am work. Is there any way I can disable the keyboard and mouse and just use the power button to wake it up from sleeping?
I basically want to keep it asleep as much as possible to save on electricity, since I am not home about 10 hours of the day and asleep for the other 7, makes no sense in draining all the electricity. I was hoping someone could lead me to a small piece of software that allow this to happen.
I just upgraded to Lion, on a MacMini, and now everytime I use sleep mode, I can't wake my lion up again because key presses or mouse clicks don't work anymore. I can still move the pointer, but OS does not respond anymore to mouse clicks or keyboard. Have to power down, then start up again. Keyboard & mouse then work until the next time the lion sleeps.Â
This is quite annoying, as I'm an intermittent style of user who relies on sleep mode a lot. Â
Lion is nice when it works, but it has introduced problems I've never had before. And booting into Lion is way slower than Leopard or Snow Leopard were. At least double the time, or more.Â
Should mention I'm also using a Logitech denovo wireless keyboard and a Logitech M570 wireless trackball.Â
Connecting a standard USB keyboard and/or mouse, once the lion has gone to sleep, does not solve anything. The OS still does not respond.Â

I have noticed a few times now that when my iMac has gone into sleep after being left alone (usually for a couple of days) that it is impossible to wake it up with either the wireless keyboard or (magic) mouse because both have disconnected from the bluetooth and refuse to reconnect. Has anyone else seen this? The only solution seems to be to connect a usb mouse, turn off bluetooth and turn it back on and then the keyboard and mouse re-appear.

FYI Just had a look at the sgcreenshot now that its been uploaded and its considerably brighter than the actual screen. In reality the top menu bar is almost completely occluded and the tone graduates out from about 90% black at the top to around 10% black at the centre of screen. Â

My macbook used to take about 5 seconds or less to go to sleep when I would manually put it to sleep. It now takes about a minute for it to go to sleep. I read on a forum that you may have a job stuck in the printer que. This is not my problem. I've tried to start in safe mode and it's still not fixed. I've also checked the permissions and repaired those.

I have noticed on my Macbook Pro purchased in September 2013 that the display will take a long time (~30sec) to awake from sleep. I can see the mouse pointer on the dark screen but the monitor will not wake. If I close the laptop, and open it, the screen will come back to life.Â

I have a problem with my Mid-2012 non-Retina MBP. When I close the lid, it takes around 4 minutes for the light indicator to dim and it's not safe to move the machine as it's probably doing something and it's HDD is probably still spinning. It's not like this for my friend's machine, even though it's an older machine.Â

This is driving me crazy. I have tried so many fixes but nothing has worked. Every time I hibernate / sleep my 2012 macbook air, the wifi drops and takes at least 20 minutes to come back on when I open the laptop again.Â

I am trying to create a resume in pages '08, but the header on the resume template is way too big for my purposes. I would like to shrink it so I can fit ~ 2 more lines of text onto the first page.
I have tried
1. exporting it to word
2. clicking everywhere in on the page
3. shrinking the line spacing between subheaders and sections, but it was not enough.
4. swearing
Is it possible to make the spacing of the header smaller, or am I just sol?
So my friend was using his MacBook and went to do something else. He came back and the screen was black, he hit space and nothing, tried the trackpad and nothing. He restarted by holding the Power button, and it go to the log-in screen, but he can't type anything, or use the trackpad. He has tired restarting several times and no luck. He also tried an external Keyboard/Mouse and that didn't work.
He did plug in a Flash drive and the light turned on, so the USB ports are at least getting power, but nothing is working.
I recently upgrade my leopard to snow leopard and when ever i put the computer to sleep it takes quite a while for it to actually go into sleep mode.
Now I tried pmset with no success like so: sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
Why does snow leopard take so long to go to sleep, does anyone else have this issue? Is there anything else i could try to fix it. It says hibernatemode is 0 in pmset info table.
After starting up my Mac Pro, I notice slow start up, and that the mouse does note respond for several minutes.
