MacBook Pro :: Free Spaces Goes From 55 GB To 15 MB In Minutes
Mar 24, 2012
I have a MBP running 10.7.3. All of a sudden it loses 55 GB of hard disk space in a couple minutes. I start getting pop-up warnings about space. Then, if I clean a couple files (maybe 1GB) worth, the free sapce begins to return. Then it heads back down again. Literally 10 GB in a couple minutes.

I just got the new MacBook (love it!), and the new finger gestures are pretty cool. Expose works really well, but I'm not too fond about the four finger left/right gestures. I have spaces set up, and I'd rather use the four finger gestures for left and right swipes to switch between spaces. I can't find a way to do this in the system prefs - is there some type of work-around to getting this to work?
i have aquestion can you run different opperatin systems using spaces? like to use mac os x in one and another one linux and the 3rd one windows? how many operatin systems can you run in one pc at once thanks can anyone please upload a picture of the mac using spaces with diffetens os's
I have started using spaces quite a bit recently and I'm not a huge user of expos. I was wondering if there was a way to change the 4 fingered swipe to switch between spaces? So swiping 4 fingers up would go to the space above and similar actions with left, right and down.
how to view/use applications and Spaces on my HDTV. I have gotten as far as being able to see my desktop on the TV, but none of the other applications that I have opened.
I have looked in the forums and haven't found anything specific to my issue. I can't tap F8 because it starts music in my iTunes, so I set it up with right click on my mouse (yep using a mouse). When the spaces applications show up on my screen in squares, only Firefox shows up,and the others show up as blue squares with nothing in them. How do I get them to show up? I have the applications assigned to different spaces, not the same one. I have spaces enabled as well.

I glanced over the forums but didn't find any similar issues. Basically, Expose, Spotlight and spaces won't respond to any keyboard shortcuts (ie. Pressing F12 doesn't bring up the Dashboard, pressing Fn+F8, F9, F10 doesn't work, F11 won't hide all the windows, Command+Space bar won't invoke the Spotlight search bar, etc). what's really interesting about it is, all of these features are apparently working correctly (ie. Clicking directly on the Spotlight icon will bring up the search bar, using an active corner will perform its Expose function, etc).
I have a 13" MBP which I bought a few months ago. Everything works fine, battery life is wonderful, it couldn't be better. A few weeks ago it began "chiming" about every 20 minutes. One single tone - not a beep - more like the chime from a tuning fork. No message is displayed on the screen when it occurs. Sometimes it happens when I'm using the machine (normally web browsing). Other times it chimes when the screen is closed down and I'm re-charging. It doesn't happen when I start up. I've even checked to make sure there are no other browsing screens opened in the background.
I purchased my MBA last night and let it charge over night. This morning my battery decreased to 97% within the first 3 minutes. It is now at 87% and it's been only 10 minutes. Is this normal? I haven't done any cycling yet.
I have an old MBP (2.16 GHZ); 2 Gigs of Ram and 120 Gig hard-drive. I have used my battery a handful of times since I got it, and now when I try to run off of battery power, it says it is fully charged, but after unplugging it, it dies about 3-5 minutes later. I remove the battery after the shut down happens, press to button on the bottom and all five green lights are lit indicating it is full. I really can't afford a new battery... And it doesn't seem like it is the battery anyway.
I've got a white macbook 2.16 I believe. The screen/display will turn on when booted up, but only stay on a few minutes. I got it off craigslist this way. When I first got it, it wouldn't come on at all. I replaced the inverter with one I got off ebay that was probably used. I have tried 4 different inverters in it (all used I think) they all respond the same way. Screen comes on for just a few minutes then the light goes black. If I disconnect the power to the inverter after it shuts off, then reconnect it, it will light up again for a couple seconds only. If I leave it alone, it will come back on after about 20 minutes.
Does this sound like I have a bunch of bad inverters, or a bad lcd screen? It also drives an external monitor flawlessly the whole time and keeps an image displayed on the screen even when the light dies.
I have noticed another weird MBP 2010 bug. I have the 15" i5. The cursor disappears for a few minutes sometimes. I haven't noticed what card is on and I've been doing just random stuff. I mouse around and click around and after a few minutes it comes back. The keyboard responds normally. Everything else is normal. The cursor just completely takes a vacation for a few minutes. The really weird thing is, is I've seen this several times in Windows XP SP3 in BootCamp as well! Maybe it's the crap NVIDIA driver.
After a while of not touching the macbook, I would say about 1-2 minutes the macbook fades out to black, could someone please tell me how to hut ths feature off?
anyone knows how to fix my 13" macbook pro keep disc. from wifi every 5 minutes? it's not the router because non of the other laptops/iphone have the problem.
My iMovie keeps on crashing like every 3 mins. I've looked up ways to get around this and I have tried to delete the com.apple.iMovieApp.plist files but their aliases cannot be found/I cannot delete them...
I just bought my macbook pro not long ago. around 2months? And my battery is going down really quick. 1% every 3 mins and I only have firefox on and my backlight is turn off. My brightness is turn on to the middle. I was looking at my friends macbook. Doesn't seem to be going down so quickly.

For a while I've been having trouble streaming videos on my MacBook Air. Regardless of what browser I use, after 10 or 15 minutes, the video begins to lag. I have 15GB of hard drive left (out of 80) and 2GB of RAM. When I've looked at the activity monitor, the flash player or Silverlight uses up all of the CPU.
The audio on my macbook pro cuts out after a few minutes. It sounds like all the low end is removed. I still hear audio but it is MUCH lower and sounds filtered. I can barely hear it maxed out. Nothing attached (no external drives, no speakers, etc) and it's only a few days old.

Skype stops working after 20 minutes - the other person can hear me fine, but I cant understand a word the other person is saying (very digitalized). This doesn't happen on the PC so I'm wondering if it's an issue with the MAC. Does anyone have the same problem? Any ideas how to solve it?
It seems that my MB(unibody 2.0Ghz) has some problem. I recently reinstalled leopard (and some softwares). It takes a little bit more than 2 minutes to boot. Worse comes with Windows 7 beta. I tried both 32bit and 64bit versions. It takes more than 5 minutes to boot! I saw some guy showing some comparison of boot time on youtube. It seems that Leopard should take < 1 minute and Windows 7 takes < 2 minutes (with the same hardware!). My MB takes around 3 times more than other MBs. Where should I start? I recently ran memtest and it turns out to be okay. HDD S.M.A.R.T also reports 'verified'. I'm not sure what would be the next.
