View 1 Replies View RelatedI have set my zoom to default in safari and the font sizes in Preferences should be set to the default. In most websites I visit that have a navigation bar at the top, I can't read even read the word within the button. The font is abnormally large. When I use the zoom font only feature it doesn't change much. When I use the regular zoom commands, all the graphics zoom like normal, but any the font of any of the links remains huge. So large that a lot of websites are unusable b/c all the links run together. This issue is on an 10.7 using safari 5.1.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got some internet going again after having moved. I've had my new Octopus for a few weeks tho. So much to my surprise, I open up my gmail account and it's practically unintelligible. Some weird cartoon like font is my default font. As far as I can tell, all the default fonts are activated and all the settings point to the activated fonts, but this is driving me absolutely F__KING bonkers. Has anyone ever had this problem? Now to be fair, I did install some fonts from a semi questionable font disk a week or two ago, so maybe some rogue font has hijacked my web fonts.

On windows you just right click the desktop > appearance and bang. How can I do it on the mac? When using either Mail (5.2, v. 1257) or Aperture (3.2.3, Build 6010000.1) I notice that the fan seems to run all the time when either of these two applications are open. I just imported my entire iPhoto library (20,000 photos, about 80 GB hard drive storage in iPhoto) into Aperture. I was lead to believe that Aperture has better management features for larger libraries.
How do I find out why the fan is running and what can I do to monitor this situation? Is it likely to cause damage to any of the MBP's internal components?

I have a Macbook with 320GB HD, which I previously stopped using and passed over to my wife. When doing that, I created a new user for her and deleted my old user and the associated folders and files. This was a few months ago. Lately I noticed my wife's HD is too full than I would expect, so I started trying to clean it up using all the recommended SW. No matter what I did (reveal hidden / system files, use designated applications etc.), I could only find ±100GB worth of files. So, the Disk Utility shows the HD has one partition of 319GB, out of which 292GB are is use. When I search for files, I only get ±100GB (indcluding everything).
I did "Verify Disk", "Repair Disk", "Repair Permissions", emptied caches, trash -- still no sign of the missing ±190GB. The same when I ran the disk utility prior to logging in (using CMD+R during restart).
I have a feeling this is somehow related to the deletion of my old user/profile. Can it be that this portion of the HD is not accecible to my wife's user/profile? And so these files cannot be accessed?

I am having another problem transferring some larger folders from my old MacBook to my new MacBook. I am trying to move some very large folders and individual files from my old Mac to my new Mac, both running the latest Lion. I have tried this with both USB Flash drives and with external hard drives. Whenever I drag and drop from Finder to either the flash drive or the hard drive, the copying begins, but always gets stuck with the pinwheel at almost exactly 4.17GB. At first I thought that the formatting of the flash drive might be the culprit, but it also happens on the external hard drive that is formatted for Apple Extended.
A very "time and effort" intensive workaround is possible if I just copy fewer than 4 GB at a time, which is what I have been resorting to. But this won't allow me to transfer my Windows 7 Parallel virtual machine, since that one file is over 90GB. As additional information, it appears that Time Machine isn't bothered by this limitation, since I can backup and restore these huge files from a backup. Unfortunately, Migration Assistant doesnt seem to permit the granularity of restoring just one file. why the system hangs at 4.17GB of transfer? By the way, this happened with Snow Lion too. It didn't just start with Lion.

I've had my Air for a couple of months now and very happy with it. However I've noticed if I copy a large about of data to it, lets say around 2gb from a USB or network drive it grinds to a halt. It would start off saying 10 minutes to copy, then get to about 800mb and slow down to about 24 hours to copy.
View 4 Replies View RelatedYesterday I tried to send a Quicktime movie that I made with iMovie as an attachment to an email. I knew something was wrong when it kept "sending" for hours. I could not get it to stop, no matter what I tried. I used Force Quit on Mail: no effect on the spinning circles. I shut the computer down and then restarted. Signed into Mail--> still had spinning circles. I took the mailboxes offline and then put them back online: spinning circles remained.
I deleted all of the outgoing messages several times, but whenever I came back, they reappeared. I shut off my computer overnight. This morning the spinning circles are gone, and a static circle remains, and I am unable to send or receive email. What can I do? I have four Mac mail accounts and they all have important information in them. How can I unfreeze my mail? BTW, the gmail accounts that go to the mac account are ok--it is just the "@mac.com" accounts that are frozen. I cannot find this in a search.
When my macbook pro resumes from sleep the desktop opens too large for the screen size. Yes, I'm running LION. Another forum has advised to switch between users which works great for a temporary fix. This issue seems to be on-going.

I have two MacBook Pros running 10.7.4. I wanted to copy one iPhoto library from one device to the other using a new Thunderbolt cable. The file is approximately 60GB. When I copy a small file of 1.0 to 2.0 BG in size, the transfer is incredibly fast -- as in seconds.
When I try to transfer the large file (60GB), the transfer is very slow, and Finder says it will take 12 hours. Oh, and I am not running any anti-virus software.
