Is there a good, sleek, slimline, and stylish hard cover out there to fit this model? When I first purchased the notebook, all of the hardcovers looked horrible. But now some of the new MBP models have fantastic covers available. Also, it's important that the cover doesn't hold in any heat since I do a lot of GPU and CPU intensive work.
View 8 RepliesMy macbook pro 15 inch (i believe its a unibody) 2.66 ghz has been through **** and back. I traveled through 4 continents with it since I got it, dropped it numerous times, keyboard light doesnt work, upgraded to lion from Lepoard, screws missing on the bottom, macbook heats up like crazy and its starting to wear down.  Im wondering if anyone has any kind of link or some kind of guide as to how much it would cost to fix my Mac. I know it wont be like new but it will be close. The genius bar and Apple may be crazy with pricing sometimes but they do the best job. Â

When I try to use the "chroma keyer" effect, it doesn't work. Nothing changes in the canvas when I use it. The effect shows up on the "video" tab of the viewer window if I click "view match frame" on the bottom of the canvas window. However, the effect doesn't hold for anything else. From what I've seen on tutorials and such, the effect is supposed to be in real-time with the canvas, and affect the sequence itself on the timeline. Is this simply something that I may have accidentally clicked that isn't allowing this to happen!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI flashed this card according to pimpmolo instructions. The card boots and functions properly in both osx 10.6.4 and windows. However, I do have issues when playing graphically intense games. It doesn't appear to be a heat issue because a game might run for several hours or 30 seconds. When the card hangs the screen displays the image on the screen when the lock happened with an overlayed checkerboard pattern.
At that point I have to power off the machine. Can someone look at my modified rom that I flashed to double check?
I installed Bowtie today and download/installed the theme pack but when I run iTunes and Bowtie, I do not see the CD cover on the Desktop. What am I doing wrong ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy iMac 27" started cutting out/powering down for no apparent reason... I took it to an authorised repairer to be 'fixed'; 19 days later, It's had a new power supply, new power inverter and logic board (still not tested at this point in time to see if it resolves the issue). When i dropped it in it had the official VESA mount adaptor fitted not its original stand (that was in the box); I asked them to put the stand back on, they can't, they're saying the mechanism's damaged and AppleCare doesn't cover it.... Hardware is it not? The VESA adaptor is designed for home install, how can that not be covered?

picked up a unibody last Saturday night, and opened the battery cover tonight. The latch was opened with little resistance, but now won't close. The latch edge sits about 1/8" up, and I can't find anything which would seem to prevent it from closing.
Anyone else had a troublesome battery latch, and how did you resolve it?
How do you delete incorrect cover art and replace it with the correct cover art?

I just recently got a Macbook Pro 15" and is wondering how much ram it can hold. It's mid-summer, currently holding 2gb in its 2 memory slots totalling 4gb of ram. It's the $1799 version. I've been trying to find out in the internet but they're all from the older versions.

My Macbook Pro won't hold a wireless signal. I don't have another wireless signal to test, but have tested other devises which connect fine.
'07 model MBP core duo running OS4.11 + original Airport (hey it still works). The MBP will only stay connected now if my base station within 10' or so. It might connect 30' away, but looses the signal after loading a few pages online. It seems like its getting worse -- maybe not, but seems like it is. I can connect just find with my other MBP, iPod (streaming audio across the house, etc) and PS3.
In the last two weeks, my Air will not hold after I Shut Down or Suspend, battery seems to work fine if I'm using it (drains normally). When I turn it on it's at 0%. Plugging it in will charge to 100% in ~30 minutes. Did SMC reset did not resolve problem. I don't believe there are any hardware issues.. Will a format fix this? All software is up-to-date.

My 15" early 2008 MacBook Pro won't shut down unless I hold the power button. I have done extensive searches and have done the following and the problem still persists. I have pulled the battery to reset the SMC or whatever it is called. I ran disk utilities and repaired the permissions. I deleted unnecessary files in the preferences folder...... still no go..... in fact it won't load software updates because it gets hung up.... then I have to force quit it by holding the power button..... I am at a loss.

The battery was almost dead when I put it to sleep (2% charge), but after leaving the adapter plugged in all day yesterday the battery indicator on the bottom only has one light glowing solid.I've removed the battery and tried to start it with just the power adapter, I've tried Ctrl+Cmd+Power Button, I've reset the PRAM, I've reset the SMC, and it still doesn't work.

My macbook won't show the screen where you hold down the option key and it won't show the apple logo or the spinning gear just a blank white screen when I turn it on. i think my macbook is running rather hot lately as I have the fan set at 6200(max) and it seems to idle at 50C and I had skype running with a few people and it was reaching 80C! It never used to get that high before! It is a Dec31st 06 (lol 1 day from 07) model and I do have the ability to open these models and apply the thermal paste again as I have done plenty times before and also fit Mac Pro serviceable options such as BT and AP
I know how to open it and clean it but theres no dust in it to make it that hot I might have to try max load and see if it overheats
Bought a macbook air recently and enjoy using it to listen to music and work while laying in the sunshine, only i have noticed it gets increadibly hot and when watching a movie cant quite play it smoothly as it seems to be affected by the heat. The aluminium obviously heats up easilyShould I avoid using it in the sunlight? Are there any addons i can get to keep it cool? Anyone know anything?Temperatures here in southern Spain now in the summer tend to be around 30?c (air temperature) but more in direct sunlight.

My wife's Macbook 2.1 is acting strangely. The Battery indicator led's are full (green) the charger led is also green and the software shows 100% battery is charged. After a couple of seconds after disconnecting the charger it switches off. I've tried resetting the SMC and this allowed a full nights use without the charger but on the next day it went back to only holding for a couple of seconds. I don't want to have to reset the SMC every day. It's running on 10.5.8 and is all up to date.

How much data can a 256GB Flash storage hold? The only reason I haven't gone ahead with my purchase is that I'm worried that 256GB is too little. I wish it were possible to upgrade to 512GB on the base model.

It will be made of wood, and the mac portion will be raised ~1" from the desk. The front and back will be open, and I'm also going to make slots for the optical drive as well as a hole in the left side for I/O. However I also want to make sure it doesn't get too hot. So basically I'm wondering if there is a central place where the heat essentially "exits?" I was thinking of putting a few holes into the board so that the heat could leave the stand that way...but any other ideas?

View 12 Replies View RelatedOnce anyone gets to test the new MBA out (next month?), if you can please post the results on heat issues. Eg the initial MBA in many cases was only usable at 50% CPU/GPU (for more than a few minutes) due to heat issues. Does the new one fix it? If so, it is effectively more than double the speed.. more like 3-4x faster if that makes sense. If GPU is much faster AND heat issues are fixed, this could be a huge performance boost..
