Using a MacBook Pro 2.16 Ghz Intel, running 10.6.8 - ever since I installed the security update I can no longer print. Printer is a Brother HL-4570CDW color laser with current drivers. Ran disc utility to repair permissions but no change.

About an hour ago I was just sitting in my apartment working, when suddenly my printer starts printing pages. Some road directions to a place I've never heard of. Someone in my building must somehow have gotten access to my printer, right? My printer is hooked up as a USB printer to my Time Capsule, through which I've made a wireless network. I've just spent an hour making sure my Time Capsule and its network are WPA2 password protected, and searching forums for similar issues. Both the Time capsule and my network were password protected, though I changed the passwords again for good measure, and made the network invisible. No one could access my printer without also having access to my network, correct? (it's not a wireless printer, it's an older HP deskjet).
how this may have happened, or more important, how to make sure it doesn't happen again? Am I missing some security step I do notice that when I go into the Airport utility, I can see other people's devices-- some other Airport and base station. Is this normal? Is it part of the issue?

I'm asking this because I've read the iPad doesn't have any means of connecting it to a printer with a cable. I won't buy an iPad now but maybe next year.

I have been like sweating for the last 3 hours trying to figure out how the heck to make my mac print to my printer. My printer is connected to my Windows XP Computer that I use for most printing. Now, I don't want to have to drag my MB all the way down 3 flights of stairs to where my Windows is to connect it. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have problems since applying the latest security Update 2009-001 and Java 10.5 Update 3, I have 10.5.6 on the new unibody 2.4ghz and have completely lost the ability to connect to my wireless access point which is an apple airport extreme base station.
I can sometimes se the base station but cannot connect to it and sometimes cannot see it at all. I have three other apple computers at home all less then a year old running the same build of 10.5.6 but have not updated them and they all are fine.
This one was perfect untill I applied the update.
The machine I am having problems with is partitioned with windows 7 beta on it which has no problems connecting to the base station, which indicates that its not a hardware problem but more then likely the update which is causing the problem.
Is there a way to uninstall the last update or delete it? Any one with a similar problem or know how I can fix it, I have googled but cannot seem to find anyone with similar problems.

how to install a Samsung CLX-3185FW to print wirelessly? I have downloaded the drivers from the Samsung site which enable me to print via USB and also to connect the printer to the home wireless. On a MACBook Air I've managed to install the printer using the IP address. I can then print from the MacBook Pro by sending it through the MBAir as the printer shows up as connected to the MBAir. However, when I try to install the printer to the MBPro using the IP address I'm told that Apple doesn't have the necessary software. Consequently, I'm unable to print directly from the MBPro to the printer. Â

Not sure that this problem is with my Mac or not, but suddenly my printer stopped printing and a window opens that says that the printer is "off line". I unplugged the printer and rebooted the computer and re-plugged the printer in thinking that might cure the problem, but same message came up "printer off line". The printer shows up in the finder and I am at a loss as to a possible cure without having to buy a new printer.

The trash was empty and I now didn't have enough free disk space to retry the download so I decided to reboot my computer to free up some disk space. I haven't been able to reboot it since. While booting it gets stuck on the 'starting mac os' screen. I've reset the pram and I've done disk and permission repairs and have tried to start it in safe mode, but it won't. While holding the shift key to get to safe mode It still gets stuck on the same screen (though it takes a few more minutes to get there). I don't have the right version of the start up disk as apple replaced my computer but didn't give me a new start up disk.

I recently reinstalled my operating system (OS 10.4) from the original system disks in a vain attempt to stop a problem with Mail (it has started demanding my password repeatedly before it will send any mail). I then had to download and reinstall all the various upgrades since.
Since then it no longer recognizes my Epson SC740 printer. It won't let me install the driver from the original CD - it comes up with the error message "You cannot open the application 'Installer' because it is not supported on this system."
I am working with a friend who uses Microsoft Office 2011 on an iMac running 10.7.2. He is suddenly unable to print from Outlook. Choosing Print... from the File menu or clicking a print button produces no result at all - the normal print dialogue box does not appear. Previously he could print without a problem. He has no problem printing from Word in Office 2011.
We have updated Office to 14.1.4 through Microsoft Update. We have worked through the advice in the Microsoft support document 2409305 - backing up Outlook identities, and removing Oulook Preferences as advised there. The error remains. We then created a new identity and found we could print from that. So we followed the Microsoft advice to rebuild the Outlook identity database. We still cannot print from Outlook.

In the last two years when I have attempted to update my security on my Macbook Pro (Tiger OS) it has either not completed the download or frozen my computer. I've had to back up and erase my hard drive twice and reload everything. Is there some sort of bug in this update? I want to update to snow leopard but when I've tried with the upgrade disk it tells me that Snow Leopard will not install on my OS. Will the security update facilitate that?

Update 2012-002 on macbook pro. When rebooting,after 'successful' install, I now see a repeating cycle of Error = 19, unable to mount root. From my *nix perspective I fear the worst - that the boot sector (at a minimum) is hosed. I tried (running Lion 10.7.x) booting with the command key down - no joy. do not currently have my install disk (sadly, it's in storage, somewhere). I'm concerned about this. this is VERY unusual for an update. This is a relatively new drive (750GB drive installed about 8 months ago). At no point have I seen errors, and believe me, I look. Assuming the worst case is repartitioning? (ah for hte days of 'fdisk /mbr')

A few hours ago the wireless internet on my laptop stopped working. I have turned it off and on again, i have turned our wireless internet off and on again. I have also tested the internet on the other computers in the house (macs and pcs) and it works on all of them. I thought it might somehow be the distance so i've tried using it next to the internet box, still to no avail.
I took the laptop downstairs, came back up and when i sat back down, the internet stopped working on it. I didn't bash it about and i'm always very careful when carrying it around the place. Everything else still works on it.
It is displaying the wifi in the top right with the bars dimmed out and an exlamation mark in front. When i click it, under 'AirPort: On' it says 'Alert: No Internet Connection' and next to it is a triangle with an exclamation mark inside.
