OS X :: Trying To Watch Netflix 'Watch Instantly' On TV?
Sep 29, 2009I can watch movies from Netflix on our Mac book. But when I plug the computer into my TVs hdmi port I get sound but no picture. I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard.Before the upgrade, whenever I plugged the mac into the hdmi port the computer's desktop would appear on the TV; now I get nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Nov 7, 2010we all know flash is a battery eater so to prevent this is install click to flash then it will indicate every pages that runs flash has this word "flash" on webpage which is good thing.now, i am a netflix subscriber and to watch movies you have to install microsoft silverlight..i dont have any choice to install it. if i open a webpage for example cnn.com yahoo.com etc.. how can i determine that those sites are using silverlight?i believe silverlight will cause battery consumption like flash right?

I have tried deleting the old versions and emptying the trash, I have tried restarting my computer, I have no firewall up. Nothing will make them work.

Intel Mac :: Netflix Watch Instantly Crashes All Browsers
May 6, 2012About a month ago Netflix started giving me problems while watching instantly. Audio wasn't syncing with video and it would skip and freeze. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Silverlight, but that didn't work. After corresponding via email with micrsoft silverlight support and a complete uninstall and reinstall of silverlight and testing it on other websites, we determined that silverlight is not the issue. I then tried Netflix support, which was terrible and of no help at all. Now Netflix crashes all browser (Safari, Firefox, & Chrome) upon loading. Netflix streaming works fine on all other computers in the house. I have all of the most recent updates of all browsers, I've tried repairing disk permissions and I'm running OS X 10.6.8 with all current software updates. I'm not sure what else to do.

Nov 5, 2010I've got a 27" iMac, 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5, running the latest Snow Leopard update.
In browsing thru my Applications folder I noticed that I have an app called "Microsoft Silverlight".I never downloaded that app. Is that part of Snow Leopard? If not, why do I have it, what does it really do? I searched the internet but do not really understand it., do I need it? Will it degrade performance if I uninstall it? What is your advice? As you can probably tell, I am a relatively new Mac user and not a computer expert.

I have read that if you only uninstall part of Microsoft Office, it'll create problems with the other programs in the suite. How can I go about safely uninstalling these programs? Do I need to fully uninstall and then re-install? I made sure while installing Office to opt for a custom installation so I could un-check Entourage and Messenger. However, I didn't see those specific programs on the custom installation list. Are they maybe under a different name (like, for example, "Microsoft Essentials")? I don't know what to do. Help is much appreciated!

I couldn't afford the high dollar wireless TV's that do one, but I found a nice 47" one for $999. I just don't want to buy the wrong cord without double checking first.

Apr 27, 2012I've recently begun seeing random, darkish rectangles appear and disappear while watching a streamed Netflix movie. Last night when it began happening, I disconnected my laptop and substituted a friend's, whose is almost identical to mine: hers is early 2011, mine is late 2011. Hers showed no rectangles.
Several facts:
-- viewing in fullscreen mode
-- using video mirroring to display on TV
-- using WiFi
-- latest OS and Silverlight software being used
-- no other apps open
-- both laptops are MBP 13"
Can anyone speculate as to what these randomly sized rectangles might be? Are they artifacts of video compression or streaming? Could they in any way indicate a failing video card?

MacBook Pro :: Netflix Freezes Laptop Every Time
Jun 23, 2014I have tested Netflix in Safari, Firefox and Chrome. All versions are updated, as well as my mac. My MacBook Pro is less than a year old.
Every time I just go to Netflix.com, it freezes my laptop, and I have to hold down the power button to shutdown.
I have also deleted the Microsoft Silverlight plugin, and reinstalled it with no luck.
