I've googled it without any luck, I need it to passthrough Video along with Audio, all in only one single cable, and also to get DTS-MA, Dolby TrueHD... (if available) and those signals that cannot be transmitted through an optical output jack.
I have a timemachine backup that is on a USB3 Toshiba 750 GB drive. Obviously ive been using it at USB2 speeds, and it works fine on other macs, but when I plug it into my retina MBP, the HD will spin at low speed, but it never fully loads. For those that know these toshibas, the light on it stays blue instead of turning white.
I have tried mounting it via diskutility, but to no avail. It has a fair number of things I need to transfer over!
I recently got a 750 GB WD 'My Passport' external backup drive (the USB3 version) and every time I plug it in, my MacBook Pro starts the spotlight process and then within 5 seconds kicks the drive off!
Then, it gives me the lecture dialogue of dismounting the drive correctly (via Finder for example), not to just pull the drive out of the USB port!

I was bought a Toshiba 1TB external hard drive with port of USB3, I see that my macbook pro won't recognize it. Since this HDD was work with Dell laptop and the PC. So is the problem was the port power.

I Have Lacie Porsche Design P’9230 usb3 (2TB) Hard Drive. This device connected with 13” macbook pro (X Lion) to usb2 port. Is there any way to connect Thunderbolt port or Firewire 800 port. If yes suggest me the converter details.

Can USB2 peripherals (hard drives, USB microphones, et al) be used with a MacBook Air that only has USB3 jacks?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI for one am really happy to see FireWire 800 still included on these machines. I have five external HDs, all with FireWire, of which two are portables (freeagent Go). I also use two video cameras, both FW. I'd hate to lose FW connectivity too soon. Transferring data (audio, video or other) via USB has always been slow and problematic for me. Sometimes pieces are dropped or end up corrupt. FW has always been smoother and problem free in this regard. Hopefully FireWire will still be around a little longer than some expected. Rumours of its untimely demise have been greatly exaggerated of late
eSATA or lack thereof does not bother me as only one of my drives supports it and little else on the market does either. USB3 would have been a nice addition but maybe its early days yet and with LightPeak around the corner we may not need it at all. HDMI would have been a no brainer. Sorry but display port is just another Apple specific port which only serves to differentiate and annoy when common high quality alternatives already exist.

Mac FW800: 75MB/sec. Win USB3: 150MB/sec.
Also, the Mac USB2 implementation is roughly half the speed of Windows. 17MB/sec vs 33MB/sec sequential read.
Just wondering if a USB3 cable CF card reader will work on on my USB2 port on my old Intel 24" white iMac?

I have seen a few videos about mastering and gave it a try myself. It can be done by clicking the master tab, then going to the Input 1-2 column setting and then clicking setting - mastering, etc. When I first did this a few weeks ago, there were many options such as hip hop mastering, electronic mastering, etc. Now, when I do so, I have different - much less enticing options and have no idea where the good ones went.
This is my first post here, I am looking for some advice on an odd problem.I have a 2008 Macbook Apple MacBook MB403LL/A 13.3-inch, with GB ram and Snow Leopard. The problem being when viewing video the laptop gets hot and the graphic become corrupt and duplicate video and create odd squares on the screen. The problem is temporary resolved by turning the screen off/on but soon comes back.

I've been a windows/dell user for years so apologies if this is dumb, but would I be able to use this external HD without any issues/ or have any of you all purchased this and have feedback? View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two 500GB Momentus XT drives in my i7 MBP. each filled to 60-80% capacity. But when I'm doing anything from typing to playing back HD video in FCP, it lags and stutters, then catch up to itself. I did the firmware upgrades to the hard drives, and I have 6GB of RAM. What on EARTH would be causing this? It's driving me crazy! I ordered a Hitachi standard 7200RPM drive to swap into this to see if it's a hard drive issue or a RAM issues, but I'm guessing it's the Momentus.

As such, I've disabled hibernation on my MBP.I am wondering about battery calibration, as you need to drain the battery down fully and have the MBP enter the hibernation state to properly calibrate the battery.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem that I'm hoping to solve. I have the most recent revision of MacBook Pro 15" with a Core i5 processor in it. I use it mostly in a desktop configuration with a 24" Apple Cinema Display. When I boot the MBP without the cinema display, there are large horizontal lines that appear after boot, and there's nothing I can do. Sometimes they are alternating black and white lines, sometimes different shades of blue. Sometimes shades of red. In all instances, I cannot do anything except force power off the laptop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSeems to be a pretty hot topic right now, personally I want to loose it since I never use it, and would far rather have an external DVD drive for ripping the odd movie than lugging an external HD everywhere so I can access all my photos.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI'm debating between an air and a mbpro. I'll mostly use this for internet, excel, and iphoto. Is 4gb going to be enough for these uses? I have an iMac with 8gb and it really screams. How much better is the screen on the mba? I played with both at the apple store and I didn't really notice a difference? I do like the air since it was just updated. I figure if the mbpro's came out with something really cool i could sell and wouldn't be out that much money.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been having a lot of problems with heat in relation to my firewire audio interface on my MacBook.Initially I thought it was my external monitor that was the main problem. Well, it does add some heat. The temperature raises about 5-6 degrees celcius and the fan speeds up to 2400rpm when idling. This I can live with. However, when connecting my firewire audio interface the heat and fan speed becomes unacceptable. The heat raises about 10 degrees, and the fan speeds up to about 5500rpm. After about half an hour of regular use, like browsing, the temperature goes up even more (as expected) and the fan starts blowing at full speed. And this by just browsing the web.

View 14 Replies View RelatedIs the Seagate (with built-in drop protection) the only option for a 500 Gb, 7200 rpm drive? I bought a 15" MBP a few weeks ago and opted for the 5400 rpm drive since I heard there were lots of problems with the 7200 rpm drive. I see Apple released a patch recently for the 7200 rpm drive, but it sounds as if it's not a 100% solution (Apple says it "reduces" the problem). Are there any 500 Gb, 7200 rpm drives that are recommended (and don't have redundant built-in drop protection)? I can tell my drive is a bottleneck.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have MBP Tiger 10.4.11 intel powerbook, purchased in '06 when they were initally released, & the logic board was replaced twice under Apple Care warranty. Past problems have been a nightmare to say the least. Has been doing OK tho' with some minor glitches since warranty expired. This week, it has begun randomly doing all sorts of strange things without command such as the following: drawing squares in the middle of a page, highlighting within any application, highlighting names of files, dragging names of files at random, dragging applications out of dock, dragging names of files without command, dragging items out of sidebar. (I have the box checked to ignore accidental input from the trackpad; under trackpad, only clicking & dragging are checked), I've zapped the pram to restore defaults and repaired permissions. Tried to run the Tech Tools CD, but it made an odd noise when I held the C key down upon restart and the disk didn't work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm getting my 15" 512 SSD Matte MBP soon and I'm wondering what some good cases and sleeves are? I'm looking for something that would give good protection (so no Neoprene).
The black speck satin case looks nice, do any of those types of 'cases' provide any protection or are they almost all for aesthetic use?
Just want to know how many of you do NOT have the "Freezing" issue. If you have it, this thread is not for you. Please do not post here. I just want to see how many problem free MBPs we have out there.
