OS X Mavericks :: Preview Program Has Not Been Working Properly
Jun 3, 2014About a week ago my preview program has not been working properly. Whenever i try and put text into my pdf documents the preview program shows the ‘spinning wheel of death’ at the point of saving…(I don’t know what else to call that multicoloured candy-looking spinning thing) It does not freeze up with ALL pdf…just some of them. I was thinking about deleting preview and then reinstalling it..but my mac system does not allow me.  One perhaps important thing is: when i edit the ‘stubborn’ pdf files, and then press ‘save’ nothing happens. I have to press save twice…then the program becomes inactive.Â

OS X :: Apps Not Showing Up In Dock / Dock Not Working Fine
Mar 31, 2009Today the OS X dock on my late '08 MacBook Pro 15" stop working like normal. It used to be, when an App was open, the icon would appear in the dock with a sort of highlight.
Now, the apps run fine but no longer appear in the dock. If I minimize it, it does show as a running app in the left hand side, but that isn't what I want it to do. Is there a quick way to get it to work again?

Nov 15, 2007This is probably fixed in Leopard, but I still run Tiger so I was hoping someone could point me towards an alternative to Preview? I hate the fact that I open a folder containing pictures (which aren't imported to iPhoto), and i have to select all the photos in order for them to be viewable in the same window in Preview. I know I know, im lazy, but seriously, you don't need to have that extra step in order to be able to scroll through the pictures. On Windows you just double click the picture and then all you have to do is click left or right to view the next photo in the folder. Is there any program strictly for viewing photos like preview?

Applications :: Open Program But Not Appear In Dock?
Mar 18, 2009Is there a way to have a program open at login (I know, I know, select "open at login") but then NOT appear in the dock when it's open? I'd like to have my Garmin software always open but hate the cluttered space of having it open. I can always close it with Cmd+tab. I'm running Leopard 10.5.6.

MacBook Pro :: Keyboard Not Working After Moving Dock?
May 7, 2010The strangest thing just happened to me on my MBP (10.6.3). I was messing around with the desktop, and I moved the dock to the left side of the screen, and I selected to have it hidden. From there, I went about what I was doing, and when I went back to my document (a Bean document) the keyboard was not responsive at all. I logged out, logged in, and things were fine. I activated the dock again, and then the keyboard went out again.
I logged out, logged in, moved the dock to its original position, and now things are fine. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? I tried searching (not too thoroughly; this is kind of an urgent thing, and I didn't want the keyboard to go out on me again...), but I didn't see anything.

I was using it without the battery and it seemed like it was very hot to touch.Could you help me find a firewire cble for my Sony Handycam dcr-hc28? Aug 30, 2010After only my safari didn't work anymore now i've got internet again because of firefox but now all the apple programs such as iphoto, ibooth, itunes and pages etc. stopped working! When i try to open them i get the message 'the program quit unexpectedly' (translated from dutch) I think this is because i installed an older software version over a new one, but if this is the case, how do i fix it?
I if go to the apple sign and click there on software update that program shuts down too!
PowerPC :: Preview 3.0.9 Not Working At All
Jun 12, 2010Preview just randomly stopped working, when I open a file (try to anyway) it shuts down as soon as the app name comes up. I already searched the forums and deleted the Preference .plist files as suggested which apparently worked for that person, but not for me. I can't find anything anywhere on this, not even a .dmg for Preview, what can I do?

Jun 25, 2012Just received my new MacBook Pro yesterday (13" lower end model) and let it sit overnight transferring files from a Time Machine backup of my old iMac. Brought the machine to work today on a full charge and discovered I had less than two hours of battery time remaining. Fired up Activity Monitor and discovered the dock was using 95-100% of the CPU. Did lots of research online but couldn't come up with any tricks to solve this dilemma. I did have an Admin acount on my iMac, however. Logged into that, and voila: the dock issue went away.Â
Question is: what should I do next? I had a lot of older software on my iMac that got moved over in the transfer and I suspect something is causing the issue. What is the best way to "start over", as it were? I have this functioning Admin account, so should I just create a new user account from here and re-import all of my files (except for the software, which I can reinstall on a "as needed" basis). Â
My old machine gave me no trouble so it's frustrating to have this beautiful new laptop experiencing problems on it's very first day of life!Â

Oct 31, 2009I've installed snow leopard on my mbp, I've had SEVERAL issues, one being that I can't preview images anymore when I'm uploading them in facebook or blogger, what have you. When you hit the browse button on a website to find the photo, you get the typical file browser, but instead of thumbnails, I get the mac .jpg icon with the .jpg names, no preview.

May 22, 2012Recently, whenever I open a PDF file with Preview, the file opens fine, but the app itself is unresponsive. I can use shortcuts (to close the program or window, or to open other files), but when I use a mouse or trackpad I am unable to click anything in the app, even the menu bar. I can scroll through the PDF documents, but I am unable to highlight text. I have all updates, and Preview is working fine if I switch to another user. I have tried to Repair Permissions, to add my user account to the Sharing and Permissions category under the finder, and I have tried deleting the preferences file in Library to no avail.Â

I'm sick of the standard grey mac color.When I'm in candybar I go to the dock section-->view-->dock-->preview background..the options under preview background are greyed out. Also when I am in the dock section-->view-->background-->change color. I try changing the color but it doesn't change. Am I doing something wrong..or what?

Oct 21, 2009I was wondering if anyone has heard of this problem and has a solution. So I opened Bridge CS4 (Snow Leopard is my OS) and selected a photo. Clicking on View - Full screen Preview on the menu bar doesn't show the picture full screen, and pushing space bar to view a full screen preview doesn't work either. What happens is that when I push space bar to get a full screen preview, the entire menu bar at the top of the screen and the dock disappears. So I'll click the desktop, and they reappear, but once I click Adobe Bridge, they disappear again. So I have to alt-q to quit adobe bridge to see the main application menu bar.

Jun 22, 2012We have new KONICA MINOLTA C360. We are using a printing presets that include an "ID & Print" mode. The users have to authenticate on the printer to release their prints. It works fine, but not with Preview.app. Its seems Preview (under Lion) won't use printer presets unless you open one of the submenu and select an other submenu than the 'preview' settings. Otherwise the printer reject the job. Why Preview don't use the preset? I check permissions on the com.apple.print.custompreset.plist and it seems Ok.

OS X :: Unable To Work With Snow Leopard Preview App / Working With Pdf Files
Oct 14, 2009I have a pdf file, I want to copy certain pages from to a new file and rename the pages afterwards.
This is the awkward behavier, preview.app gives me, trying to do so:
It does not let me create a new pdf out of the program (command + N or file/new file) - why?
Instead, I have to drag one of the pages I want on the desktop, to create a new pdf file there.
Once I created a new pdf and dragged the wanted pages into my new file, I cannot rename the pages, which have now meaningless names including "(dragged)" in the middle. I have found no logical way, to rename these pages - why?
Do not ever plan, to save time in just selecting more than one page, to drag and copy over to your new pdf - you will end up with an alias in your sidebar of the new pdf file, which of no reason making sense to me is undeletable - which means - start over again!

OS X :: Dock Not Working/cursor Is Not Changing?
Nov 20, 2008So, I first started noticing this problem a couple of days ago.
1. My dock doesn't work right. I have it set to auto hide/show. It worked fine up until now. Now for it to show, I have to click where it normally would appear, then I have to click in another window to hide it.
2. My cursor in Firefox, and other applications, doesn't change when hovering over links. It gets damn irritating now, as I'm used to links changing the cursor.
Any ideas what may be causing these problems? I'm running 10.5.5 with all latest software patches on an early '08 Macbook.
