MacBook Pro :: Pop Up Won't Go Away - Can't Access Safari
Jun 17, 2014
I opened a web page, same one I do several times a week to watch a tv show ( have been using the same site for the past 4+ Years), and a pop up popped up with an additional pop up box with an "okay" to click and it just keeps coming back. It says malware detected call this number. Yea, those pop ups come up all the time as spam scam and I can cancel out of them. But this one just won't go away. I can't cancel out or access safari preferences to delete history. I Did a reboot at and all previous pages came right back, same thing when I force quit.

I am using skillport as a portal to continue my foreign language training through Rosetta Stone. I am using a MBP. Safari can not access the site but mozilla is able to with no problems. My good friend has an imac and his safari will access the site with no issues. I have un-installed safari and re-installed it with updates. I have no clue what is going on. I can continue to use Mozilla but I paid to use my MBP with Safari.

I've a MacBook Pro and I can't go to Youtube and Google Maps with Safari. I've also tried with Firefox but the problem is still not solved.Actually, Safari (or Firefox) keeps charging the page but is unable to get it. I always see a blank page. It only happens with these two websites. Other sites are working perfectly.I've tried so many things like installing the flash, erasing cookies or cache, installing updates but nothing helped. This is really annoying. Just to give you an example, if I try to localize my MacBook I just can't see where it is as the map is not appearing.

I have successfully upgraded my iPhone (iOS 5.1.1) from MobileMe to iCloud. And, on my NON-COMPATIBLE iMac (cannot run OS 10.7), my Mail from iCloud is working okay. I understand that my Calendar and Address Book will NOT be able to sync with my NON-COMPATIBLE iMac. However, here is my question: Can I use my Safari browser (5.0.6) on my NON-COMPATIBLE iMac to view my Calendar and Address Book at the Apple iCloud website? If so, how do I access it via Safari?

I wanted to go to Photobucket, but Safari took me to the above page. Then a pop up window told me to Click OK to continue. This was too suspicious so I did not click. Now I can't get away from this page. I can't access any anything else in Safari.
When I quit Safari, it still opens to that page. I tried virus check and nothing was noted. I can't just reinstall Safari. Apple says you have to reinstall the whole system. Not practical. (Still using Mavericks - do not yet trust Yosemite.)

A site that I visit regularly has recently started giving me an error whenever I try to access it. I can get there just fine using the latest Firefox. I've tried emptying the cache and resetting Safari to no avail.

We have a company, approx 32 macs, Lion Server, IP addresses distributed via LinkSys router. Aside from Parent Control and going via Terminal,I would like to know if there is a simple way of blocking access to certain websites? Are there any new apps which provide (hidden or out of sight) control for blocking websites?

After the Safari 5.1.4 update, I'm unable to access one particular site, the one that used to be my homepage. Trying to access it causes the browser and OS to freeze up for several minutes. Can't force quit or close. I'm able to access my other 'regular' sites.

I have done everything I can think of, cleared all cookies, cache and reset safari. I also tried other browsers (chrome and firefox) still no go.I get to the sign in page but then Safari (or other brousers) can't open the page. Now it says I tried to may times and have to verify who I am. Try to go to verification page and get the message "can't open page" Just in case I downloaded Sophos to check for any virus or trojan...nothing there.I can access any other web pages, just not facebook. This is driving me crazy. I am not that computer literate to know what else to do.

I'm sure this is a very basic question, but having just made the Mac switch a week ago...I am lost. when I did a forum search, I found out how to access keychains, but I'm not sure if I found something particular to my question- please forgive me if I overlooked something.
I was downloading microsoft software last night and all of a sudden I began getting these little pop-ups that say "A keychain cannot be found for safari" with the option to cancel or reset to default.
how can I fix this so it doesn't happen?

Firefox is open, I was wondering what differences anyone has seen between it, and Safari. I have been using Safari with but a few problems for some time. Is there an opinion as to which is better, it at all? I am using it with OS 10.3.6 on two G4's, a Titanium laptop, and a 1.25 dual processor, both with plenty of RAM. There is, however, one specific question. Some sites I can access fully with the laptop, but not with the desktop, even though they are virtually the same hardware & software.

I recently bought my first iMac [first mac anything] to replace an ancient PC that was driving me nuts with slow internet browsing. I have the i7 2.8Ghz. As expected, everything has been lightening fast on my new imac, with the exception of navigation on Webmail accessed through Safari. Even my ancient slow poke PC/Internet Explorer was faster zipping through Webmail than my imac/Safari has been. This is proving to be hugely annoying and problematic since I spend a lot of time accessing my work mail/document attachments/calendar when working from home, now on my imac. Is there a setting or something that can be adjusted to speed up webmail navigation? It literally takes about 10 seconds for anything I do on webmail to respond. This will not work.

I'm connected to an Airport Extreme. iTunes and Safari can't connect to the internet, but Firefox can.
Also, Firefox can connect to local network stuff (e.g. AirSharing iPhone app), but I can't through Safari or Finder's "Connect to server..."

Is there any way to stop this? It'll give a warning message on all attachments but on certain attachments it downright blocks them all together and doesn't even give me the option of bypassing the message to open the attachment. Is there a setting I can change in the preferences? I looked at the security tab and nothing popped out as being the right one.
BTW, I know the attachment is safe...

My dad set up a managed account for me on my family's iMac and now Safari 4.0.3 will give me the the following error message every time I click on a link to or type the address of a secure website:
Safari can't open the page "pageAddress" because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server "serverAddress".
I'm curious about what might cause this because it's stopping me from using a lot of user login pages (i.e.: the Google Accounts login page.) Is there some way that my dad could fix this (I'm not the administrator, as mentioned first.)?

Safari has been crashing for me every time I open it. It's mostly on sites like YouTube, which leads me to believe that it's a flash problem. When I open the page it just freezes up and the pinwheel just keeps spinning and spinning. I noticed these problems on my MacBook after I upgraded to Snow Leopard, and now they are arising again on my recently purchased Mac Pro (also running SL). I'm running latest version of SL, Safari, and Flash.

So I was using Safari this afternoon, even though I usually use Firefox or Chrome. It crashed again on me and a box appeared that said it may be due to the WCIDEngine Plugin? When I read the problem details to send to Apple, it said "EXC_BAD_ACCESS for exception type, and then for exception codes it said "KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at (some numbers I'm not copying over). Worse yet, it reminded me that I've had 7 crashes since last report. I'm getting awfully tired of this crap. I run a PC that's on Windows 7 and it runs like a charm. I am seriously thinking about going back to it because I got my Mini with the expectation that it would work and most of the time it does, but it's little repetitive things like this that make me question it. I will add that I scrolled down the problem details list and it said that "Thread 0 Crashed" and then proceeded to list a number of things about symantec, like .com/symantec.WCIDEngine".
