The mail program crashes right after start. What to do? A new installation of OS X 10.10.1 did not work.

i've been using programs that require some serious cpu power and i really need to know how to set any program to always run on high priority. I know theres a command you can run on terminal the "nice" and "renice" command but i only know how to set a program's priority once its already running so my question is how do you set a program so that it always runs on high priority from the start?

I have a Macbook Pro. It has OS 10.4 The mail program will open and the circle will start spinning like it is trying to "get mail." it will spin and spin and eventually close. It will pop up and say mail quit unexpectedly will show that report and reopen box. hen mail is open and the circle is spinning, you can send mail and it works fine. It just will not load new mail.aNy ideas? The mail is version 2.1.3

When launching mail there is a message that it cannot receive mail. Thought it might be a server issue, but what happens is all the menus in Mail grey out, so I can't even check preferences or anything else.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have (Yosemite) Mail linking into BT. I have a problem that occurred with Mavericks and continues with Yosemite Mail. Mail works fine for a month or two then goes wrong... almost a pattern! Usually I put it right by deleting the account and set it up again and it works for a while. I am so frustrated because I do not understand the intricacies of software and programming. Now it is refusing to send emails in both my and my wife's account. iCloud works (after I deleted and set it up again). But I need our BT separate accounts. Is there a way of deleting all the old bits and pieces of files that might be 'remembering' bad settings and starting again?

For the past year or more, every time that a program crashes while I'm working in it, it gives me a dialog box saying "Would you like to submit report details to Apple?" I click the button to submit the report and every time it returns with an error message saying "Submission failed - Unable to submit report". Its not a big deal to me, but I always thought it might be helpful to Apple to receive the reports. Always worked a in the years past, but not any more.

I have a problem with the Macbook Pro (Late 2010) of my friend. He installed MacBook Yosemite last week and it worked fine. But now when he start's his macbook it is booting normally but when the progress bar of the booting screen is at about 30% the MacBook just shut down.
PRAM and SMC Reset were not successfully, and i have the same problem when i am trying to get into Safe Mode. Recovery Mode is enterable, and i already copied some important files for him through the terminal.

I don't know the exact specs of my computer but it is the macbook just before the new ones came out from stock, so no parts are replaced/upgraded. Literally 10 minutes ago my computer was running fine and I was installing this program called JACK because one of my audio programs I run needed it. So after I installed it told me to restart so I did. then when I did it booted up into my empty windows partion, now it's a long story why I have a partion without windows installed but we can talk about that later. So naturally I was like "crap" and restarted but I forgot which button was to choose the start up disk so I held control-option-command hoping one of them would register... nothing happens. And now whenever I try to restart my computer I just get to the gray screen. I have tried every safe-startup-command-line thing out there and I don't get past the grey screen. If I hold down option/alt then I get a mouse(yay) but nothing else. If I hold down the mouse button then I get stuck at the apple symbol. So my question is if anyone has had similar problems and has fixed them. Oh ya, I also don't have my install disk with me.
View 6 Replies View RelatedEverytime I start skype while in windows, the computer crashes and I get the blue screen... I think it has to do with the sound drivers, because when I'm using msn messenger also in windows suddenly the microphone mutes itself.
I tryed updating the realtek drivers with no help, updated skype, no help, I uninstalled the realtek drivers and the laptop did not crash anymore but I had no sound, any advice like for example how to get the microsoft drivers to work on the laptop without using realtek??
For whatever reason with the microsoft drivers,I think the sound is trying to come out of the digital outlet, I can see the ligth inside the jack, but nothing comes out of the laptop's speakers...
By the way, the vista version is Home basic.
Yesterday, a game that I used to play often, (a board game,so not cpu intensive and at least 5 yrs old) recently started crashing on startup. I guess my HD was full and I started getting error messages, then it would not start at all. I cleaned the disk with onyx, restarted, etc. It does not have a preferences file that I can tell.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.
I couldn't wait any longer. I was going to wait until tomorrow, but I decided to test it out today. The following is a short video clip of the X25-M in action under Snow Leopard (on my late 2008 uMBP 2.53 GHz, 4 GB RAM).
It's not much of a benchmark. I simply selected everything in the Applications folder and hit open to start all the programs at the same time.
Needless to say, I am happy with the results!

I am using Yosemite 10.10.1 (14B25). I use dreamweaver a lot as a developer and it appears to crash many times a day.
While this could very well be an Adobe issue, once the app crashes and I force quit it, it will not open again.
After it completely shuts down, I try and reopen it and it will just bounce and eventually stop without opening.
Is there any command line I can run to clear whatever is happening on restart so I dont have to restart multiple times per day to just continue using the app?

I upgraded to Yosemite a couple days ago and now every single one of my Apple Apps (Safari, Facetime, Calender, Maps, App Store, even the Calculator) simply refuses to start. Have tried running programs in Safe Mode, restarting, resetting the SMC, and nothing has worked.

I have a PowerPC G4.OSX 10.4.11 is updated yet the finder crashes upon start up, requiring a restart by holding down the power button. Yesterday my computer wouldn't start, and I tried everything for many hours, but no solution.. Finally I decided to start over. I booted from install disc and recreated my system from Timemachine.. So i chose the latest full backup option, and after 7 hours of recreating, my mac is back.. Thank you TimeMachine.

My mail application crashes every time I try to either compose a new mail or reply to a mail.
I recently migrated from a old MBP to a new one and only after that have started noticing this issue.

I do happen to have adobe CC products installed by the way.
Anyway, it is showing that the finder is always active. You can see as it has that black dot under it in the dock. I can open new finder windows and also open google chrome, but the odd thing is, I can't open certain programs. Chrome and finder and system preferences will open, but I can't open the terminal, mail, safari, app store, Preview and other apple programs. I can't even open "about this mac" when I click on the apple icon. When I click on a program in the dock, it shows the icon bounce and there is a blink on the screen, but the program never opens.
This is pretty much rendering my computer useless. I already fixed disk permissions. I tried to remove the com.apple.finder.plist file, but I can't find it. The library folder is under my HD and not under my user name. I'm not sure that is normal. I also created a new user account, but it is behaving the same way.
How do I uninstall an application from computer?

Every time I try to delete my wifi certificate in Keychain Access, it continually crashes. Tried it in safe mode, still crashes. I cannot get my Airport extreme 5th gen to pass along an IP address to my Mac even though mac is connected to AE (seen via Network Utility). Thought that deleting keychain password would work.
