MacBook Pro :: No Batteries Detected

Dec 5, 2014

I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro 13 it was working OK but now has come up no batteries detected and I have tried a pram reset, smc reset and a new battery but still no luck. I did manage to get it to work for a while by turning it on with the power adapter connect then restarting it but at the point of the restart I pulled the power and it came on with the battery.

If I start it with the power adapter connected and then pull the power it will boot to the login screen briefly then go into sleep until I reconnect the power. When the power adapter is connected it just has a solid green light at all times never changes even if I do the smc reset.

MacBook Pro :: Genuine Apple Laptop Batteries Vs 3rd Party Batteries?

Feb 18, 2008

My battery for my 12" Powerbook G4 is munted and i need a new one. There are a few around for about $90AUD from 3rd party re-sellers which is less than half the $200AUD apple want for a genuine battery.

So i'm just wondering, has anyone got any recommendations about 3rd party batteries? i know it will probably vary a bit depending on where they're from, but i spose i'm just wondering if its worth the extra $100?

MacBook :: No Batteries Available - Not Charging At All

Oct 30, 2009

My white MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo is not charging the battery anymore. It says "No Batteries Available" and it works only with the cable plugged in. I already tried the following:
- buy new battery - FAIL
- reset SMC (30 seconds procedure) - FAIL
- reset SMC (5 seconds procedure) - FAIL

I brought the Mac at the Apple Genius. They say there has been a liquid leak and asked me $780.00 for the repair (it does not make sense to pay this amount for this computer). I am not aware of any liquid leak. Yes, I had my MacBook in my backpack during rainy days but I had an umbrella. Anyway, I would like to have any advice about (i) where I could bring my Mac to repair (I live in the Bay Area) or (ii) what I could try to replace, following tutorials (like the very good ones on ifixit site).

MacBook Pro :: Not Going Back From Built In Batteries?

Mar 9, 2010

I think built in batteries are a good idea , but having to give your computer to apple and pay 200.00 after your battery dies is not.

how have your built in battery experiences been?

do they last long as stated 7 hours?

not sure if i want to make the switch , i like my removable battery.

MacBook Pro :: Need Info About Batteries On I7 15 Inch

Apr 26, 2010

My MBP 15" Hi-Res Glossy i7 is on the way (ordered on 19th) and I was just wondering how the batteries on these machines were doing. I've seen a lot of feedbacks from great (8~9 hrs) to average (4~6 hrs) to bad (2~3 hrs). So how is it that these reports are varying so much? Is it possible for numerous defects to be out in the world right now?

MacBook :: No Batteries Icon Is Available At The Top Of Taskbar

Jun 3, 2014

I've got the dreaded "No batteries available" at the top of my taskbar.  The Power Source says: Battery.  I have my laptop plugged & it is showing a green light. What is a simple way that I can fix this problem?  I can't go to a Genius Bar because the closest Apple Store is over 120 miles away.  The battery is a little over 2 years old

MacBook :: Why Has Apple Not Recalled The Defective Batteries

Jun 2, 2012

Why has Apple not recalled the batteries in the white macbooks(early 2009) when it is very evident that these batteries have a manufacturing fault? Mine has swollen after 112 recharges but should have lasted 300 recharges before only having 80% capacity after which it will still work, just not as many hours. Because of the excessive cost of Apple batteries and Apple's releuctance to recall defective products my next laptop will be a windows8 machine.

MacBook Pro :: Battaries Not Charging / Haved Changed 4 Batteries?

Oct 10, 2010

I have a Late 2006 MBP (This one).

I don't use it much (it's for travelling).

I leave it plugged into the wall or unplugged for weeks at a time without using the battery. Since I bought it, I have gone through 4 batteries, including the one that came with the machine. That's over $500 in batteries!

The computer says "Batteries not Charging" with an X in front of the battery icon. Or it says "No batteries available".

I'm about to buy my 5th battery. What should I do this time to prevent it from dying like the others? Or is it a problem with my computer, and not the battery?

MacBook Pro :: Battery Charger - Manage Spare Batteries?

Dec 10, 2006

i'm sure there are many people who use spare batteries like me. but how do you manage them though? i find it very annoying having to charge them one by one. charging 1 battery takes a few hours, which is almost fine. but when you have a spare battery, it takes twice as much longer to charge them both. not fun. a separate battery charger will help greatly reducing charging time

MacBook Pro :: Negative Side-effect Of Non-removable Batteries?

Jun 19, 2012

As you can see from the info at the bottom of the post, I own the 2008 model. Now, with my hardware slowly becoming obsolete and the wear starting to show its effects, I would have to get a new laptop in the near future. However, as I discovered, all new models have batteries that cannot be removed. After 2 years of service my battery swelled and had to be replaced. That's 2 years. With a new battery, my laptop's life has been prolonged.

How long will a new laptop  last? Will I really have to buy a brand new expensive computer every two years just because of a design flaw?

I've searched for the problem in Apple Support on their website but to no avail. I have Applecare. Is this something I need to take up with them? Should I take my Mac to a genius bar?

MacBook Pro :: All Of 4GB RAM Not Detected

Feb 14, 2012

For the last couple of month or two, my MacBook Pro hasn't always been recognising all of my 4Gb of RAM and only detecting one of the two 2Gb RAM installed.

I thought it might have been a hardware problem but I have been able to restart OS X when it only detects 2Gb and after it has rebooted it would see all 4Gb of RAM but recently (last week or so) when I restart this no longer happens and it still only detects 2Gb not matter how many times I restart.

The 4Gb of RAM installed is the factory shipped RAM and I haven't opened my MBP to make any modifications.

For some reason when I boot into Windows 7 through BootCamp it detects all 4Gb of RAM.

I am having real trouble running some applications that I need due to the fact that I only have half the installed RAM available.

MacBook Pro :: USB Hub Not Detected?

Mar 24, 2012

I bought a 4-port USB hub (Gear Head if it matters) and it's supposed to just plug in and work. I normally use a USB mouse & keyboard, thus taking up 2 out of 2 of my MacBook Pro's USB slots. I bought the Hub so I could add in a light or speaker for late night gaming sessions and quiet videos respectively. The light on the USB Hub turns on, but it isn't detected by my MacBook Pro. Anything I plug in to it recieves enough power to turn on (Speaker's Power light turns on, Mouse's laser will turn on, etc...) but they aren't detected by the MacBook Pro. IE; Mouse won't move on screen, keyboard will not type, speaker isn't shown as an option for outgoing sound device, etc...

MacBook Pro :: External SSD Not Detected

Apr 14, 2012

I'm running Mac OS X Lion (latest version) on a MacBook Pro mid-2010 model. OS X Lion was installed via recovery tools a few days ago. Today I plugged in a brand new Crucial M4 SSD via USB and it got detected. I restarted the laptop in recovery mode using cmd + R and chose to install Lion on the external SSD. For this I first had to partition the SSD before it showed up as a valid drive where Lion could be installed. The installation went almost to the end, but then stopped rather strangely for a very long time. So I decided to cancel the installation and restarted the laptop normally. Since then the Crucial M4 SSD is not being detected at all (doesn't even show up in Disk Utility).

MacBook Pro :: Laptop It Detected The Tv As BBY LCD TV, But Still Has No Picture?

Jan 9, 2011

I have a macbook pro and i used my old phillips tv for a 2nd screen. Bought a DVI-I to DVI-I cable, and was working just fine. For xmas I got a Dynex 26inch. I noticed it has a VGA and not DVI input, so I figured I would buy a DVI-I to VGA adapter and still be able to use the same cable. I go to hook it up and my TV says no signal.

On my laptop it detected the tv as BBY LCD TV, but still has no picture. Is there a setting I need to change? Or is the better route going with a new DVI-I to VGA or HDMI cable?

MacBook Pro :: New Drive Not Automatically Detected?

Jul 16, 2010

I just upgraded my late model Penryn MBP from the stock Hitachi 200GB 5400rpm drive to a Seagate 500GB 7200rpm drive. Performance wise, I'm happy. XBench is indicating a significant gain on the disk test (especially in the sequential test) and I loved being able to use Quicksilver almost as soon as I saw the menubar. However, when I turned on the machine, it did not recognize the drive automatically, and I had to hold down the Option key in order to get it to boot from the disk. I cloned my old HD using CarbonCopy Cloner. Once I did that everything was (obviously) fine. How can I get the MBP to recognize my new disk as the default boot volume?
