Yesterday I sadly opened a zip file of an email on my macbook. As it turns out it is a Trojan. I have run Bitdefender and was able to find Trojan.GenericKD.1635815 six times.
Two of them have been moved to Quarantine, for two other disinfection failed and the remaining two could not be moved to Quarantine.
What am I supposed to do now? Is the Trojan under control or do I need to take further action in order to protect my macbook?
It's been running half an hour. How long it'll take in total? I'm not a huge fan of leaving my Mac on overnight but I will if I have to.

Just upgraded my MBP from one of the first unibodys. The new computer is great, but the power cord? Surely that was one giant leap backwards? Yeah it looks cool, but I have nearly destroyed my new MBP many times - that old panicy, heart in mouth feeling when you trip over the power cord and turn round to see you computer sliding towards the edge of the table is back! With the cord parallel to the body rather than perpendicular it doesn't seem to have the leverage to pop out easy any more. Admittedly I am clumsier than most, but then thats why I loved the old magsafe so much. It makes me wornder, am I just using it wrong or does anybody else wish for simpler times?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI noticed that many people who had freezing issues with their i5/i7 MBP, had gfxCardStatus installed, hence why I never installed it. Can anyone confirm that it's safe to install it and that all freezing issues are gone? ( My MPB never frozen once, but i'm afraid freezing issues will appear if I install this App
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just bought a used macbook pro, 15" 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo, and I have previously been using a 13" macbook, on which I recently upgraded the hard drive. I'd like to pop that hard drive in my new MBP, since it is bigger, and has all my data on it, but I'm not sure if this is a safe thing to do - if there are hardware specific aspects of the OSX environment that will be unhappy in a new machine. I'm running OSX 10.6.4..

View 3 Replies View Related2.0ghz Alu Macbook a few days ago and everything works perfectly well, the thing is that after day one the magsafe started to emit a low pitched electrical whistling noise. It tends to be there a few minutes after booting into the OS and then it turns down to almost unhearable, but I experienced it returning after a few hours of use and then disappearing again. If I move close to the escape key I can hear a crackling noise emitting from the magsafe.I'm not trying to be overly nitpicky or anything but I read somewhere that if it's doing that it would be a faulty Mag-Safe board or something.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had my Macbook for 3 years, each year I have to buy a new mag safe power adapter. I'm not some extreme user, the connection between the coupling and the cord is incredibly poorly designed. I had a PowerPC powerbook 12" before and never had a failure. My computer (and mag safe) goes to the lab and back home and that's it. Do these plugs have a warranty? I'm on my third one and it is starting to fail the same way (where the cord meets the magnetic plug at the computer). At least time it's less than a year old, if there is a warranty.

is adobe reader safe to use on a mac? I've heard recently that there may be a problem with Adobe Reader on the Mac.

So here the whole story of what I think is relevant to this problem.I tried to install a small program that can read and write NFTS.After installing it needed to reboot my computer.During the reboot my computer shut down before the things were completely installed. My macbook Pro (mid 2009) rebooted and immideiatly stated that the time and date was set to jan 1st 2008.When I tried to adjest this in preferences > time and date the preferences pane did not respond after opening it.I tried to restart my computer again. But now it will only start in Safe mode.

As of yesterday my Mac book pro will not start up. It will not go past the gray screen with the apple and spinning timer indicator. When I try and start up holding shift to enter safe mode it will not start up either. I have tried turning It on and off many times. I am not sure what to do or what the problem might be. Running OS 10.7.

Within a short space of time of booting up my main software that I am using (e.g. Mail, iTunes) hangs with the spinning beachball. If I reboot into Safe Mode then all works OK, if slowly. I have reparied disk permissions but the problem recurrs once I reboot. What else can I try to do?Â

MY MBP is giving me the "NOT" sign on start-up. This comes after initially displaying the Apple logo. This MBP had a new logic board installed by Apple just two weeks ago -- and I know I can take it back but I'd like to fix this myself. I put in a different hard drive after getting the MBP back. It has worked fine for several days. Don't know if these points are relevant, but:
1. First thing I noticed today is that neither of the USB ports would read a flash drive. The port would, however, work mouse and keyboard.
2. The initial non-boot episode took place when I had external hard drives daisy-chained in via Firewire. But, again, this had worked previously, as recent as this morning. This may be significant:
3. The last tasks performed on the MBP were -- for the first time -- to edit video in FCE, make DVD in iDVD, burn IMG file.
4.I have connect this MBP as a target FW drive to another MBP and run "disk verify" and "disk repair" in Disk Utility. It says the drive and permissions are okay.
5. I have booted to a copy of Disk Warrior (latest version, version 4, I believe) and rebuilt directories and files along with verify/repair permissions (everything DW will do). And when re-starting, it still won't boot.
6. When I boot off Snow Leopard DVD and run Disk Utility¦"verify disk" says "the volume appears to be ok¦.when I "repair disk" it reports "Volume repair complete." and "Updating boot partitions for the volume as required."
7. I'm able to boot in SAFE MODE, but when I try to restart in normal mode, it won't boot (so nothing was automatically fixed)What can I do in safe mode to address my problem?
