How do i get programs to not automatically open when i power on my laptop? I tried system preference > General and unchecked the box "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening" that didnt work.

I have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.
Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?
I have an existing macbook 2007 model, and am looking to upgrade. Would you:
A). Keep the MacBook for now and get a new iMac i5 (so you had a big one for home, and could carry the small one around to school etc)
B). Upgrade to a new MacBook Pro when they get released and just have 1 computer.
I figured that if I sold my macbook it would bring the MacBook Pro option down to the same price as the iMac (taking into account increased amount for Applecare etc.). So out the pocket choices A and B would cost within a hundred bucks. I do need a laptop for my master's program, but it's mostly taking notes etc. So any laptop would do, but at home I play games and mess with video and photography, so would like a computer that could handle that as well.
My System fonts seem to be the default, however using other programs the font is different. For example: How can I get rid of this? I have not installed any new fonts or anything!

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo one day I activated deep sleep from this widget like I always do when I want to keep my 100% charge and i'm traveling with my macbook and keep my stuff saved.
It didn't work. So I kept clicking. clicking. clicking. Nothing.
So I slept my mac, and woke it again and it worked.
However when I went to wake it, I just got a grey screen. I held down the power button to cold boot, and when I rebooted it booted from the RAM file like it would normally when waking from deep sleep.
But now every-time I close the laptop it goes into deep sleep.
I just bought a new Macbook Pro and I'm on my existing Macbook Pro right now.
What is the best way to transfer my settings, programs, etc.. I believe the new laptop will have snow leopord while I am currently on 10.5.8
I just bought a new MacBook Pro to supplement my iMac.If I remember correctly, when I hook up a laptop to my desktop I can access it the same way I would an external hard drive? I'm wondering if it's possible to drag and drop PROGRAMS (self contained ones are obvious, but I'm talking programs like Creative Suite 4) over to my new computer? I tried to reinstall the Adobe applications and before I can I get the message:

Booted my macbook pro 2009 and the time was reset to 2001, a prompt asked me to change settings or else the computer might function erratically. So i changed the date and time settings as suggested but then suddenly it stopped working. I restarted the computer but i could no longer open any programs. My dock was gone, the screen background was changed back to the original and i couldn't access the system preferences. Every time i click on the apple icon the screen just refreshes and that's it.
My laptop hasn't been turned off for the last 48 hrs before this happened. i was working and uploading huge files to dropbox and since my Internet connection was really slow, i had to keep it on so it would upload continuously. Was thinking this might have caused some malfunction.
