I then rebooted my computer by holding down the power key because it would not allow me to open or close any programs. After i rebooted whenever i open safari, itunes, or ichat the computer freezes. i don't know what is going on because firefox and other programs seem to be working fine but certrain programs i open freezes up the computer. the dock stops working and the clock does not even run. i am able to move the mouse around but i can not click and open or close anything.

Safari has frozen after I tried to quit it, I can't open or close any programs, force quit, use shortcuts or use any open programs as the safari bar still appears at the top of the screen, I would force shut down but I've got an after effects project open.

My mac is freezing all the time. I can't have more than three programs open at the same time, like forefox, word and spotify. If I do that, it crashes and have to turn it off with the power button. I have some big programs on it, like all the Adobe programs. The mac is just over a year old. It have a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, and have 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR 3 memory, also running iOS 10.9.4. I have 388,82 GB available of 499,25 GB.

I have a question about using my new samsung tv as a monitor for my macbook. I have all the cables and such and my TV reads the computer. It actually shows the desktop background, mouse, and the toolbar on the tv...
BUT....when i try and open a program such as safari or itunes it does not display the program on the monitor but rather on my macbook screen. It shows the program open on the tv monitor but it shoots off the screen and then opens on the macbook screen.
Also the mouse disappears from the tv monitor screen on the left side only, and when it does it becomes visible back on the macbook screen! Any tips or suggestions on how to get the programs to show up on the monitor instead of the macbook screen?

A few times a day my mac will freeze. Usually I get the spinning beachball and will become unable to click anything, then move the mouse at all. Generally I'm not able to force close anything. It can usually be unfrozen by restarting, or if I go away for 10 minutes it will sometimes have sorted itself out. It appears that this can happen whilst using a variety of different programs, I haven't been able to spot any patterns as such.
So far I have been in contact with Apple support and have done everything they suggested, right up until re-installing Mavericks. I then took the laptop in to a repair shop, I the first time they replaced the logic board. Neither of these things solved the problem, if anything the crashing seems to happen more often now then it ever did.
I took it in to the repair shop for a second time, and they said that something had corrupted the system files, and that I should completely wipe the laptop, only restore my user date from time-machine, then install all the apps again one by one to try and work out which one had corrupted everything.

My computer Mac Pro is getting slow. The wheel runs and runs. I took it in to Apple at one time and they coded a bunch of files that were running in the background, thus slowing the computer. How do I do this myself?

I was wondering if there is a setting to change so when I close a program it doesn't still run on the dock. For example: If I open Numbers from the dock and then close it (by clicking the 'x' in the top left corner of the gui window), it will still be running in the background. The only way for me to close it (even after I've 'x'ed out of the window) is to right click on the Numbers icon and click on 'quit'. Since I have Numbers in the dock, visually I cannot tell that it is still running and using memory. This is fairly annoying, b/c it is easy to have many of these idle processes running in the background eating up memory and I find myself periodically having to go through my dock to see which processes are still running unbeknownst to me.

Is it possible to make it so when you click the red x on a program, it will actually quit it rather than closing the window and leaving the process running?

He has an iMac running OS 10.4. After he did a couple of software updates (I don't know exactly what, because I wasn't there) he lost the dock and can no longer restart or shutdown without holding the power button. I've repaired disk permissions, tried kill all Dock, and tried to change the dock setting to bring it back, but nothing has worked. He can still run programs from the finder.

After updating to Yosemite 10.10.1, occasionally my Finder will freeze. I can continue to work in whatever program I am in, but I can't go anywhere else. When I force quit to try to relaunch the Finder, it doesn't respond. The only way to get it to work again is to shut off the computer using the on/off button. I have already tried deleting my Finder preferences.

2010 iMac running 10.9.4. Lately certain programs are forced to close on a regular basis. This includes Safari, Mail, Crashplan. It usually happens when the computer is sleeping. When I wake up the computer first thing in the morning, I usually have 3 - 4 messages saying that certain programs were forced to restart. This can also sometimes occur when the computer is not sleeping, but when I am using it. Typically it's Safari that is forced to restart.
Recently upgraded RAM and added Crashplan software for data backup.

I have a iMac(it is an older one but I forget when I bought it) it has OS X 10.4.11, and 1 GB ram. I have 30 GB of free HD space.
Normally, I run Aol Desktop, Firefox, iTunes and sometimes Microsoft Word. But recently while browsing the internet the Mac will stop working. The music will continue to play and the mouse will still move but everything else stops working. The only way I have been able to fix it is to hold the power button for a couple of seconds.
Also, while trying to zero out my free space the available HD space on my computer went to 0 and the Disk Utility said it would take something like 1 million hours to finish so I skipped that step and when it finished my memory was restored.

I open and close my 2010 MBP a lot. Maybe 15 times per day. Am I running the risk of breaking a cable between the base and screen or something? Should I just set it down and let it run?

MBP/Lion - I'm using my MBP in dual monitor mode with an external monitor and power supply connected. If I close the lid and then disconnect the monitor, my MBP won't wake after opening the lid. I know that with Lion a change was made and the power stays on with an external monitor attached and the lid closed (with the adapter plugged in), but if you unplug the display, there doesn't seem a way out of this state. Even plugging the monitor back in, the display wont refresh In this state the power managment is confused. When closed, the power light is on, with the lid opened the power light goes off, the display remains blank and I can't wake the device. The only solution is to re-boot. as I just want to close the lid, unplug power and the monitor and leave work to go home. I end up running the battery down if I don't catch it before putting the MBP in my bag, and I always have to reboot.

Is there a way to disable the pinch open and close feature on a MBP trackpad? I swear, its going to put me in therapy. Every time I need to scroll through massive spreadsheets for work, if my fingers separate by even a hair, the trackpad reads it as a pinch, then the document suddenly balloons to massive proportion or shrinks to infinitesimally tiny print. Seems there ought to be a simple way to turn the thing off, but for the life of me, I cant find it.

I recently replaced my hard drive and still have the old one with all my Adobe applications. Both hard drives have the same OS and the applications worked on the old one until I replaced it.
I tried to reinstall the Adobe applications and before I can I get the message:
"Adobe Illustrator 13.0.0 [k] (Universal) cannot be opened because of a problem."
without getting the option of installing an update. I also tried to copy the programs from the Old to the New HD with no luck

I have a brand new macbook pro that I bought about 4 months ago. I am running snow leopard and out of the blue one day my computer gave me the spinning wheel and it went on for so long I had to power off my notebook by holding down the power. When I turned it back on I was stuck on the apple screen and I couldn't get passed it. So, I did a clean install and just moved all of my personal files and folders that my computer backed up to their original location.
After doing all of this and being up and running again I noticed when I try to access a personal folder on my system that contains images (jpegs, pngs) and some videos and psd files that my computer starts freezing up again and spinning and I have to power it off to get it to stop. I have resorted my permissions and ran Onyx once a week since this has happened and the folder is still giving me issues. I need to access this folder asap.
