OS X :: How To Close A Window/program While In Expose Mode

Apr 18, 2010

I was wondering if there was a way to close windows while in expose mode. For example, I hate it when I go to a site and a few pop ups come up and i turn on expose mode and i have to click on each one and make it come up and then press exit and then reopen expose and then click on another pop up and then exit and reopen expose and etc etc... To be more specific its kind of like the new windows 7 feature where you hover your mouse over the icon at the bottom and those little windows come up (kinda like expose) but those little windows have little x's where you can just exit the window without having to click on it and then exit and then go back down to the little icon and etc etc.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Why Clicking Red X Does Not Close Program

Mar 24, 2012

I am a first-time Mac user and have a question about quiting/closing programs.

When you click the red button/X in the upper left corner of a program, is there a setting in Lion to make the program actually close/quit instead of having to go to the menu at the top and click Quit?

This was annoying on a windows mobile phone - it is still annoying on the iMac and I could not find any settings in System Preferences to change how clicking on the red button closes a program.

Intel Mac :: Freezes On Any Program After Startup?

Jul 4, 2012

My 5 y.o. aluminum iMac recently went kaput on me. Problems it has:

-Freezes on any program after startup

-Freezes during safe boot mode; grey line won't progress past first 10% or so

-DVD stuck in optical drive and nothing works to get it out, so I can't boot from my install disk

-fsck -fy doesn't complete, and keeps timing out

-Migration Assistant either stalls the receiving computer, or just gives me "network" errors (even though I'm connected to the internet), or other errors.

I can't run terminal, disk utility, or any other kind of programs. How do I rescue my files from my failing iMac??

I knew it was a virus so I was trying to figure out how to close it but there is no option to close it, the only option is to click ok. i've tried command+w and that doesn't work either. I have also tried to force quit safari but when I open up safari again, it re-opens the tab. i got my macbook in january of this year, i really don't want it to get a virus lol.

Macbook Pro Hinges Still Crushing When Close

Jun 18, 2012

After the second display change in genius bar, everytime they change the display it sounds more. First sounds like if you're smashing grains of sand and for a moment, it sounds like a choke with plastic (not a big deal, a tiny sound), and then sand again. The plastic part, just sounds once (everytime I check the sounds). Apple guys says that this is normal... (?) and after some months will not crush anymore.anybody has experienced in his own macbook pro that the shift key gets stuck while you press it for a long time ? (maybe 6, 7 seconds), and to unstuck it, just pressing the shift key again.

MacBook Pro :: Its Not Sleeping On Lid Close?

Jun 19, 2012

I'm having a strange problem with my MacBook Pro. I just began using it with a second display (with the lid open, of course), and ever since I started doing that, my laptop will intermittently not sleep when I close the lid (while it's disconnected from the display). What happens is that I close the lid and the Apple logo becomes dark, indicating that the display is off. The white light on the front stays on, however, and then, suddenly the Apple logo on the lid will light up again. After this, one of two things can happen. Most of the time, the screen and the computer both go to sleep after about 30-45 seconds. Sometimes, however, it seems to get stuck with both the display and computer on. This concerns me because I travel a lot, and I worry that the computer will overheat in the bag if I put it in while it hasn't gone to sleep.

- How can I run both screens with it?- How is Windows7 working on the MB Pro? Is the installation the same?- Should I use 64bit and will this work fine?- Will this long working make it very hot and loud?- Is it possible to close it while running without shutting down?

MacBook Pro :: Monitor Not Going To Sleep When Close Lid?

Apr 22, 2012

I was wondering if there was anyway that I could get my Dell E173FP monitor to sleep when I close the lid to my macbook pro. I do not have it on mirroring mode. When I close the lid to my laptop it will just switch my desktop to the monitor instead of the monitor going to sleep with my macbook. When I press the power button and click sleep or go to the apple menu and click sleep it will work though. This really irritates me and I would like It to sleep when I close the lid instead of having to do more.
