I know I have seen some of these posts outside the apple support forums, but I am having an increasing problem playing DVDs. Older movies seem to have less problem, but when I get a movie from Netflix they often won't be recognized by my 2010 Mac Mini. The drive has had some problems ejecting discs in the past, and this inability to recognize the disc and then ejecting it is getting worse. Since it is not 100% of the time, the genius bar can't diagnoze it.
I only have 1 TV in the house, and want to be able to reliably use my Mac Mini to watch a DVD when the wife or kids are using the TV.

Can the 2ghz mac mini with 4GB of ram play blu-ray discs in bootcamp? I have an external Lite-On DH-4O1S-08 drive in a Vantec USB 2.0 enclosure. I don't want to rip them and I'll be using any DVD HD to take care of the HDCP.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI searched and could not find my exact situation. I have:
MacBook (2008)
Intel 965GMA
OS X Snow Leopard
Windows 7 Ultimate
MiniDVI to HDMI Connecter
Sanyo LCD TV
Under Mac OS X, I could plug and play with the Mini DVI port and my TV, and everything ran smoothly. Under windows, however, the TV is not even recognized. I have updated the graphics driver, rebooted, and of course googled for a while. I installed all the drivers when I first used bootcamp, and have been keeping up to date with it.
I was using my Mac mini last night and it played audio fine. (I have it hooked up to my HDTV in the living room.) However, this morning I went to watch a standup comedian and the audio wouldn't play. I rebooted. Removed the audio cord and plugged it back in. Took the video cord and plugged it back in.
Audio cord: composite
Video: mini-DVI -> DVI -> HDMI
Nothing will play. There's no external speakers or anything, it's playing through the TV's built in speakers. Normal satellite TV will play audio as well.
I have made a movie on my imovie, and it will play on my macmini and my laptop but when I put it in my dvd player it says disc error. How do I get it to play on all dvd players?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been looking at the Mac Mini server for my next computer purchase, but I've had a few things confuse about the set up. I've seen at least one thread where someone got their Mini server to use RAID 1 settings on the dual internal drive set up.
What I want to know is will a RAID 1 configuration play nice with Boot Camp?
Is it even possible to use boot camp on a RAID 1 configuration?and if it is possible, would the RAID 1 duplicate the Bootcamp Partition too?
These are three important questions because I like the idea of the RAID 1 security and because I'll be pairing it with a Blu-ray drive I'd most likely have to install Windows via Boot Camp to watch them.
When I insert dvd or any software installation cd it wont play and automaticlly eject
