My Mac mini is connected to a Samsung widescreen (1360x768) display using mini port to VGA adapter. When starting, the both sides of the screen is not used, left black. Mac mini thinks the display is a 4:3 display, but does not recognize this as a 16:9 display. What can I do?

It all started off when I installed windows 7 on my mac via bootcamp. It worked, but somehow Leopard didn't recognize the windows partition, and that all ended up in even more trouble, so I ended up reinstalling Leopard, thereby erasing everything on my hard drive.I have now reinstalled leopard, but somehow, Disk Utility can not start, everytime I open it, it says it had stopped working and that I can send an error report. Damn! I just need Disk Utility to recover my drive, so that bootcamp can make the partition, but it doesn't work!

My Dad has a 2006 17" iMac that is fully updated and it does have a camera built in as it should. My Dad also has a cannon all in one printer scanner copy machine hooked up to the computer. As of this moment, when I hit an application like Photo Booth or something else that uses the camera, the program says that no camera is connected.
I did a little detective work and found where someone hooked up an all in one HP device and the scanner took over the "port" that the iSight camera was supposed to be on. I don't know if this is the problem or not but it was all I could come up with. I am pretty Novice when it comes to computers and don't know how to tell what is on any port or how many ports their even are for that matter.
I have a MACBOOK PRO (new style) and i am trying to use the built in web cam. However, when I go into photo booth it tells me the camera is not connected. what it is that I am doing wrong? Also , when I go into photo booth the camera goes in and out...stating that camera is not connected.
I have a MBP running 10.6.
And every program gets the No Video Camera Error. how to fix?
how to get facetime to work again? When I pull it up, it says *There is no connected camera.* How do I recconnect the camera? (On an imac Lion)
View 2 Replies View RelatedAny time I open an application like Skype, Facetime, or Photobooth, it tells me my built-in camera is not connected.I've had this Macbook Pro since about October of 2011, and this problem didn't start until last month. Before that, it worked perfectly fine. I've restarted my computer several times with no luck, as well as restarted the applications themselves. I don't know what else to do! I don't want to pay to get it fixed if it's something I can easily fix myself. Should I try resetting my SMC?

I recently bought an eMac and it is the first mac that i've ever owned so I am not completely familier yet on what to do to make everything work. My problem - I have a digital camera that has the ability to take video. When I plug the camera into the computer iPhoto recognizes the pictures but neither iPhoto or iMovie recognize the video. It there a way to make this work so I can upload the videos to my computer? I know the videos can be moved to computers for I have done it on my pc.

Photo Booth greets me with the issue "There is no connected camera". Both Facetime and Skype don't recognise it either, same error message.Â
Have tried the terminal command kill all VDC, reset the SMC and PRAM as suggested online, as well as upgrading to Yosemite as I said before.Â

Recently, I've been trying to access my webcam but both Google Chrome, Safari, and my computer claim that it doesn't exist. I know for a fact that the camera is there, and works, having used it in the past, but all of a sudden it seems to have stopped being recognized.
I've tried changing my systems preferences and everything, and when it stopped working I hadn't changed anything. My Macbook is a Macbook OS X from 2009 running 10.9.4 and has no updates.

I've got a Canon app which I use for tethering etc, but don't use for importing photos. But when I connect my camera via USB, this app (EOS Utility) automatically opens. There doesn't appear to be an option to change this in the app itself. Is there a central way in system preferences or elsewhere to change what happens when a camera is connected?

Bought new Mac Mini and have been using it for two weeks with no problem. Until now.
Plugged in my Sony camera which has worked with the old G4 Quicksilver for the last 4 years. iPhoto didn't open, so I checked Image Capture, which says "No device connected"... Checked leads, restarted etc, still the same.
Took the MemoryStick out of the camera and put it in a card reader and iPhoto opened immediately.
Swapped USB sockets. Checked System Profiler; no camera shows as connected.
Any suggestions as to how to get the Sony working again from its cradle? It seems to be connected in the cradle because it's charging OK.
I'm about to pull my hair out...
I'm looking for a network camera which can be connected directly to a modem.
A camera which can be controlled (pan/tilt) and viewed through a browser or on an iPad/iPhone. Preferably nightvision, motiondetection and auto upload to a ftp server upon detection.
I noticed 99% of the cameras don't support mac!?
I'm hoping to spend around $400, don't know if this is realistic.
Can anyone recommend a good camera and software to get the job done?
When I open photo booth it says "there is no connected camera" but I have done nothing to mess with the built in cam.
