Mac Mini :: 2.53ghz Mac Mini Vs 2.0ghz Macbook
Jun 10, 2010How�s the performance of the 2.53ghz mac mini vs the 2008 macbook aluminium? My macbook has 4GB RAM, and is mostly decent but performance drops when running some photoshop plugins (which I use frequently). I�m looking for a desktop upgrade, and since I�m already using an external monitor and keyboard the mac mini seems more suitable than the imac.
But is 2.53ghz a significant upgrade from 2.0ghz on the macbook?

Sep 29, 2010Youtube videos won't play properly on my imac (I have OS X version 10.5.8). The video plays only for a few short seconds and stops for about 90 seconds and then repeats the process .

Jun 11, 2009Apple has some pretty weird pricing with these two MBP. I looked through the specs of both MBPs, I didn't find much different, besides some audio in/out port, a/c adapter wattage. Only main difference that I found obviously is the screen size. 13" vs 15.4". Usually, in PC scenario, all things remain the same, if the screen size is small, the price usually is more (a lot). But here in these two MBPs the 15.4" is $200 more than a 13". I find it, sorta weird. Is it just me finding it?

Feb 5, 2010I am a web developer using Mac to develop and Ubuntu Server to deploy. It's a pretty standard setup nowadays.The time came to replace my staging server ( which I keep at my home on a dedicated IP ) and I could not resist the allure of the new Mac Mini Server. So I bought one and tried to do a Ubuntu install and thought I could sell my OSX server license as I have no need of it.I imagine a lot of people not used to Apple's policies might think like this. So how did it go? Bad and then good.As far as I have been able to ascertain, it's impossible to install Ubuntu on a Mac Mini Server ( at least without the additional DVD-ROM drive which I refuse to buy ).What's more, the OSX Server license I bought is not transferable to non-Mac Mini Server computers so I can't really sell it anyway.

Safari :: It Won't Play Videos
Jun 5, 2012I have a MacBook Pro running all the latest software and it seems that Safari's having trouble playing things, like videos. Nothing works: Flash, HTML5 or QuickTime. Tried it all. MP3s won't play in the browser either. I've looked around and many of the other people who have this problem have it magically disappear with an update, no such luck for me. Apple isn't going to be useful for less than $49 either.

Mac :: IStat Server Shows No Network Usage On Mac Mini Server?
Aug 23, 2010I have a 2009 Mac Mini Server with iStat Server installed. When I connect to iStat server with the iPhone app, I see no network usage (even though it is being used). iStat Pro widget will show the usage just fine. Any ideas on why its not showing up with iStat Server?

Dec 20, 2010When I try to play videos nothing appears except a message saying Missing Plug In, no videos will play on any site. A pop up window sometimes also appears on safari saying "Flash Player (Safari Internet Plugin) quit unexpectedly". I installed chrome after I identified that videos didnt play in safari but videos still didn't play. I also tried uninstalling and re-installing flash which did nothing! I'm on a 2008 macbook model 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM on OS X 10.6.5.

May 13, 2010I have vlc on my imac G3 as my primary video player, and i updated from quicktime 6 to 7, and now when i go to play videos in vlc i get audio but no video and a message saying quicktime doesnt have any of the appropriate chroma. i have tried everything: reinstalling VLC, downgradeing back to QT 6 (which it wont for some dumb reason).

Firefox Does Not Play Quicktime Videos
Mar 2, 2012Have installed Firefox 10.0.2 in my iMac (2.93 Ghz Core i7) using OS 10.6.8.Firefox will not paly any Quicktime videos and asks that Quicktime plugin be installed. Quicktime plug in is not listed in the list of available Firefox add-ons.I do notice in my Library in the Internet Plug-ins folder a Firefox_Quicktime plug-in seems to be listed. When I try to choose it from the drop down list: Install Add-on from File the Firefox add-on is gray and unavailable.I like using Firefox but not being able to see Quicktime videos is irksome. Any clue as to what is wrong and how I can fix it. I have searched the archives and see others have had this problem but other than deinstalling and hoping a reinstall works is there any other remedy.

Apr 21, 2012My old PC broke and I had someone recover the data of the harddrive for me, he told me he would recover the data so it worked on Macs. All the music, songs etc are working, however the videos are not working. The videos are in '.avi' and some are in '.mpg'Â
When I try to open them it says "the document "DOCUMENTNAME.MPG" could not be opened. A required codec isnt available.."Â There is a button that says tell me more, when I press it, it takes me to this page, [URL]which doesnt make a lot of sense to me. Would someone help me open and save my files in the correct format!?Â
