Nov 5, 2010So I have been having an issue with my MBP 13" since I bought it, about a month now. At first the guy at Bes@ Bu@ attributed it to the fact that I was pressing too hard on the trackpad and sent me on my way. Two weeks later and the same issue is still happening. So I return to the store and they take the drag lock off, which I have tried before and I tell them this is not the problem-I am not an idiot-I actually know a little about computers. Oh well so here it is another two weeks and the same issue is still going. What do I do? A little background-I need a computer to be able to work on-this is not an option.
Best Buy said that if there is something truly wrong with the trackpad then they will have to send it off to "somewhere" and it could be gone for 10-14 days. That is just unacceptable. Is anybody familiar with their "Black Tie" protection plan? would it be easier/better just to run the thing over with my truck? instead of dealing with the headaches of shipping it somewhere? Basically it seems like the mouse is dragging and locking on everything it can. I have to hold and move, or double hold and move, its hard to explain, but there is definitely an issue. But since I mainly work nights, its hard to bring it up to BB when there is an issue.
OS X :: Weird Noises From Dragging Mouse + Emagic Sound Card Causing Noise
Dec 24, 2009now what I have noticed is that the same monitors (speakers) i had with my older imac (24") are constantly making a louder "white noise" than what they used to (didnt bother me that much but i definitely noticed a louder volume of white noise). The thing that really bothers me is that whenever i scroll the mouse, or click and drag an object in photoshop or something the monitors are making a really noticeable disturbing scratching sound sound ...just cant seem to make it stop..its so annoying.. i also tried to record something and the imac recorded it in a really low volume and unstable wave (volume going up and down). so i figured well obivously the soundcard of the new imac was real bad..so got me an external soundcard, Emagic emi6|2m and i figured it would solve the problem. installed the soundcard, and played a song and suddenly a high pitch noise, kinda loud and really disturbing, started coming from the speakers.
2 seconds after i pauseded the song, the sound stopped. play the song, the noise comes, stop the song, noise stop after 2 seconds. if i open up Logic, the sound just starts no matter what. quit Logic and the sound stops. just now i opened up a youtube video and the sound just started going off even after i paused the video. now the sound comes everytime i choose the Emagic soundcard in the sound preferences. its kinda real loud and its bothering me so much, i cant seem to make it go away and definitely cant work with it. When i tried installing the soundcard on my brother's laptop windows with the same speakers, everything was fine and it played perfect with no noise. whaaaaat can i possibly do, this actually really frustrates me.... whats wrong with the computer? something with electricity?

Oct 26, 2010I want to build Mac Mini media server connected to drobo s. I am wondering if I use the spyderhub (esata to fw800) will fw800 be fast enough to play 3d blu ray with an external blu ray player? The hub lets you connect esata to it and then use fw800 to connect to mac mini. This follows limitation of fw800 speeds though so will this bottleneck? Need to mention I am going to use bootcamp to boot windows 7 and play the 3d blu ray dvd's in windows.

Aug 6, 2007I got my macbook pro 2 weeks ago and I installed java 1.4 release 5, the latest apple has, but when I went to yahoo or pogo to play games, it never loads and pogo shows an error window saying it might not be installed or something. Sep 9, 2010playing games through bootcamp. Especially with Call of Duty 4. It freezes up constantly in the menus and just has lots of problems. Some games wont run at all in bootcamp, but the odd thing is that all these problems don't ever occur when I open the games in Parallels. Granted frame rates are a lot lower of course, but the games function fine. also noticed when playing Modern Warfare 2 today with my friend, my macbook pro blows his HP out of the water when comparing the in-game Frame rates and graphics, but his menus and loading screens go sooo much faster.

Jul 7, 2010i bought a imac 27" quad core i5, and like in my previous imac 20" i created a partition to play my games in bootcamp...but this time i installed the W7 64bit ( used the trick command promt on instalation to del c:windowssystem32driversatikmdag.sys if im not mistaken, to get the screen to work and finnish the instalation ) did everything by the book, installed drivers from OS X dvd, then bootcamp 3.1.
But all my games ( pes 2010, resident evil 5 and OF dragon rising) dont work! the only one that works is company of heroes ( 2006? ) PES 2010 installs but when start .exe gave me a message ( doesn't work on 64bit OS only 32bit ) the other 2 don-t even let me install them appearing the same message of incompatibility...so...i installed W7 32bit ultimate...now the messages didnt show, instead, a black window ( look like DOS ) appears and disappears in a sec, in PES after instalation, when trying to run the game, on the other 2, on the attempt to install the games just like in the 64bit version. i rolled back to what i thought it would work, since i know there are some issues with W7 and imac, the XP SP3! with same results on W7 32bit...pops a window like DOS, for a milisec, and disappears.

May 30, 2012For some reason the songs seem to play back faster than they should.
I even went on youtube and played the songs simultaneoulsy and it isnt just one song it seems to be that my entire itune library plays back faster than it normally would.

Anyways... I just had a thought and was wondering if any owners could clear it up. The resolution on the 27 i7 Quad Core seems ENORMOUS for a middle-grade ATI GPU. Are you able to game on high settings for semi-modern games like L4D2, TF2, etc. at the 27"'s native resolution? What are your thoughts on it as a gaming machine. It seems like the 27" will obsolete itself quicker than a i5/i7 21 inch (if one ever comes out) due to the screen resolution size.

May 14, 2010It's going to be used mainly for work, which involves me having multiple programs at once open, including word, powerpoint, graphpad, endnote, internet, mail, and probably itunes.
Also, I play WoW and want to play SC2 on at least high settings ideally. I currently have a 24" monitor at home that I could either hook a laptop up to, or get a average gaming desktop.

I play Steam games (at times, as they usually run horribly slow), I surf on Chrome, I use Mail, Excel, and iTunes. I also DJ using Traktor Scratch Pro.I bootcamp to play MOST of my games. I know this is a factor for the caching etc.I'm not in DIRE need of space. I have 50gb left, and multiple seasons of different television shows on my hdd. Not to mention several movies. I am a virtual pack rat of sorts, I guess, and I like to carry my media with me. I often use my laptop hooked up to an HDTV for viewing TV shows and movies.
