How do I make my MBP battery work longer?Â
Do I use the laptop without power core plugged in, and rechagre my MBP when it's out of battery? Or keep the power core on all the time?Â

purchased a macbook Unibody back in October 2008 when they were released and use it heavily. The battery no longer holds a nice long charge - I get about 2 to 2.5 hours out of a full charge.
The battery has 149 cycles on it, which is obviously high (and correct, I use the hell out of it). With it still being in warranty, is it worth pursuing a replacement battery? Will Apple tell me to go take a hike with the high cycle counts?
My Macbook Pro battery no longer charges to 100%. Why? Charges now to 96%. Have had it for almost one year.

Get the sound back on my late-2007 13" MacBook! Last week I put Bose headphones in the headphone jack, but after I unplugged them, the built-in speakers no longer worked, and the speaker icon is grey. Yet when I plug the headphones back in, I get sound again (through the headphones only, of course).

After installing the new update I no longer have sound either through the the speakers or the headphone jack. I know it works because I was using it right before the update. The speaker also sounds after the post bios.

The media keys on my MacBook Pro (retina, 13-inch, late 2013, OS X 10.9.3) don't work anymore with iTunes. All other function keys work. All other function keys continue to work when "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" is selected in System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Keyboard, but F7, F8, and F9 still do not do anything. I have not found a way to map them either.

However, do you think that if I take apart the keyboard and clean it with rubbing alcohol, it will fix it? Or if not rubbing alcohol, what kind of solution could I use?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having some major problems with my Macbook pro. First, since I first got it my macbook has eaten through 4 magsafe adapters, no matter how nice I try to treat them. My husband, who got his at the same time, is still on his first. My latest one just bit the dirt today, and I'm using my husbands adapter to get online long enough to write this. Even with his adapter, the battery is no longer even charging. The icon shows it as charging, but it says it will take 10 hours and it has not increased in power since I plugged it in. The computer is currently at 0% charged. I'm afraid to just buy another adapter for fear it will break again, and I don't want to ruin my husbands adapter either. My computer is no longer under warranty and I'm afraid to bring it in for diagnosis for fear of the cost, depending on the problem.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI usually use my laptop at a desk plugged into an AC outlet. Well I was going to be away for a week, so I unplugged it, when I came back, the battery went from 97%, not charging to 12% when I booted the laptop up again.
Also, can one continue using a macbook laptop if the battery is dead, but run it through or plugged into an ac outlet all the time?
Well, I just got a replacement door because the door wasn't sealed properly after use. The hooks are more curved and the front of the device looks proper. However, there is still one corner sticking up which also makes a metallic noise when I set it down. So I tried putting some wall stickers on there, but they were too think so I found some double stick tape and stuck it on the rim surrounding the battery and then the battery itself. I might request another door from Apple, but for the moment is this a OK thing to do? I had thought about the detrimental effects of this thin plastic on the battery, but the tongue (to take out the battery) looks as if it's plastic as well.
Is putting tape on my battery to fix the door issues a bad idea?
I have a 2.16 C2D macbook bought in end of May last year. My battery only lasts about 2 hrs right now. Which is definetly shorter than when I originally got it. I bought the full applecare for it which has another 1.7 yrs on it.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to Leopard from Tiger, and am now having a problem reading certain CD-ROMs. Each month, I receive a CD from a guitar instruction site. When I was using Tiger, I had no problems reading any of these CDs, but, since the upgrade, I've become unable to open the most recent few. They aren't even recognized by the computer, and are ejected automatically, although they work perfectly on two other Macs running the same version of Leopard. Older CDs from the same company still play fine. My drive is a Matshita DVD-R UJ-857D.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently did an upgrade from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7. I had the original Leopard DVD in the drive, as I was doing some troubleshooting a few days prior. The upgrade went through fine, but then I noticed, I could not make any changes in the 'Disk Utility'. I tried to fix it in the 'System Preferences' - no luck. Soon I discovered I could not make any changes where an 'admin' login was required. Furthermore, all user accounts have been set to 'standard'. There are no options for an admin to login?

I upgraded yesterday, and since then my key commands no longer work. If I restart, they will work for a little while, then suddenly stop working. I cannot take screen shots, or get Expose to work with F10, F12, etc. Apple-Tab doesn't bring up the applications currently open, etc. I've searched all over for this issue, but not finding anything. On a Macbook Pro, upgraded from Tiger.

i watch tv through a website called tvunetworks which requires the installation of a video plugin, i have been using it for a while and have had no problems until today.Im not particularly tech savvy but had the bright idea of upgrading to snow leopard without doing any research and instantly, my plugins do not work any more.
I have tried reinstalling the plugin, but no matter what i do the player still shows up as a question mark and safari prompts me to install the plugin. I have also tried reverting safari to 32 bit but the browser just crashes when i load videos.
I'm using a new i-mac and one of my external drives no longer is readable on the Mac. I can't do a disk repair or verify. I just get this message.

Recently I bought an IMAC 27 inch with OSX 10.9.1 on it. Video editing i do with AVID MEDIA COMPOSER 6.5.4.
Then I did the upgrade to OSX 10.9.2, for sofar was everything ok. Later I did the upgrade to OSX 10.9.3 and then the problems started.
A portion of AVID no longer worked properly. So the problem was clearly the upgrade. Now my question is how can I go back to OSX 10.9.2Â ...

Whenever I assign shortcut keys to Spaces using the Expose' & Spaces panel in System Preferences, it seems that in a day or two the shortcut keys no longer work and System Preferences shows them as being unassigned. I thought there may be a conflict with another shortcut but there isn't - at least according to the Keyboard & Mouse panel in System Preferences. This happens on both my MBP and my iMac as well as on the PowerMac I recently sold. I've tried other keys and combinations but with the same results. I've also experienced this in all versions of Leopard including the current 10.5.7. I'm using F8 to activate Spaces, Command + Option + Arrow key to switch between Spaces and Command + Option + Number key to switch directly to a Space. Has anyone else experienced this?

i Have a 15 inch unibody MBP (the one with the 4 hour battery) and since I got it, iv realised iv never gotten close to 4 hours on it, even just with web browsing.
I tried the battery calibration thing on apples website but that didnt help at all. On a full charge if I check the battery it says I have 2:45 left, sometimes 3. thats not even close to 4 hours.
also, I can NEVER finish a movie all the way through. If im watching a movie, my battery will usually die about an hour and thirty/fourty five minutes in and I always have to plug it in to finish. does anyone else have these problems? or is this just how its supposed to be because it kinda sucks
