MacBook Pro :: Have 1.1 (1CoreDuo) With No OS, Cannot Instal Snow Leopard Or Lion
May 28, 2012
Mac Book Pro 1.1 Core Due 1.87 GHz, 2GB RAM, with 128 Mb ATI Radeon X600 Graphics but no OS, have unfortunately lost all my original discs and the local Mac support does not stock any Tiger or Leopard installs. I have a newer MacBook pro Dual Core which is running Lion, a Mac Pro Quad Core Intel and I have a valid Lion Installation image from app store but it puts the older Macbook into kernel panic when I try to boot from that installation. i can only boot from my Macpro installation but it tells me of course that it cannot be installed.
Because of its FW 400 port I cannot TDM it directly to my newer macs and instead have to daisy chain it through an old G4 and even then a Lion installation started from the other macs through TDM results in kernel panic and a snow leopard image fails to start under lion anyway. I'm guessing it has to do with the installation versions and graphics card support but I'm not sure. Short of getting a valid Tiger Disc or Snow Leopard factory installation disc which don't seem to be available anywhere I really don't know what to do because it responds to nothing but original discs.

I have an iMac running on snow leopard and am thinking of getting a macbook air running on lion. Does anyone know if I can use the optical drive on my iMac to install software on the macbook air?
My Laptop is MacBook white. I am trying to update my MAC system to OX lion, but every time I download it. It stack in the middle of downloading then it stops.
I bought a new MacBook Pro, which has Lion. My old MacBook Pro has Snow Leopard. Last night I used migration assistant to move everything from my old computer to my new computer. My instincts told me not to do it, because my old computer is 6 yrs old and has so much stuff on it. I was thinking it might be better to just go on an as needed basis, however, there is so much I need, I decided to do it.
Problem one, CS5 will not work. Maybe I need to do a clean install?
Are there any other issues I should be aware of? I see I need to re-enter my license info for Word ...
Have I messed up my new machine? Should I start over and wipe the new one clean and use another method?
how to downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard? Trying to install SL disc but it always prompts 'Cannot install disc on this OS version'. Most of my softwares can't be installed in Lion.
My son just received his new Macbook Pro (15 "); he is running Snow Leopard on his 2008 model Macbook Pro. Is it possible to migrate from Snow Leopard to Lion using the setup assistant or does he have to upgrade to Lion first?
Can I install Snow Leopard while still having Lion on my Macbook Pro? I have some software that will only run on Snow Leopard but my mac came with Lion. I have a Snow Leopard install disc so was wondering if I could run both operating systems...

My time machine was working perfectly with Snow Lepoard and prior to my upgrade to Lion I turned off the time machine located on an external drive.
After my successful upgrade to Lion including all my files and applications I wanted to use the Snow Leopard backup but it was no longer showing in time machine at all.
Is my Snow Leopard backup gone forever? I would like to have it back.

I recently bought a Mid 2010 MacBook from eBay that has Lion on it. I'm trying to do a reinstall of Mac OS in order to remove an account that came on it but the restore process says that I'm not the "owner" when I type in my Apple ID. I don't have the original restore discs. I called Apple about this and they said that I could buy the retail version of Snow Leopard or buy Lion "again" in the app store but with my Apple ID.
I would think that if this computer originally shipped with Lion that I shouldn't have to buy it again, which suggests that maybe it really shipped with Snow Leopard. However, in user manual on support.apple.com for this model it talks about Lion.
I'm going to call Apple back about this but shouldn't they know based on my serial number which OS shipped with the computer?
How to adapt an external hard drive with Snow leopard (from my sold Mac Pro) to my Mac Book Pro with Lion? Any hints on where to start? I would like to use the external on a permanent basis as it has 2T without deleting a lot of the programs.

I have a Snow Leopard Install Disk for the 13-inch Macbook Pro model.I also have a 21-inch iMac. I have OS X Lion installed on both. I have Snow Leopard installed as a partition on my Macbook Pro, which I installed via the install disk. I want to do the same thing for my iMac but I am unable due to (seemingly) my install disk is for a Macbook Pro and not for an iMac.
I have read on apple news that apple is offering free software upgrade for leopard to snow leopard.. is that true? I followed their link and nothing is available?
I upgraded to Lion and cannot access my Quicken files. I understand that I have to go back to Snow Leopard to export the Quicken files, but I don't see how to restore Snow Leopard from Time Machine. Or, how to boot up directly to the external drive?
Is it OK to just use my original Snow Leopard disc to reinstall SL or is it more complex ? I have upgraded to Lion but am having some problems with some software just not liking Lion.
