MacBook Pro :: Harman Kardon Soundsticks Don't Work With Lion
May 13, 2012
My Harmon Kardon Soundsticks (original; not II or III) stopped working with Lion 10.7.4. There's a Mac Pro thread for this problem but not one on MBP evidently.

I have the original Harman Kardon Soundsticks, which have worked beautifully since the early 2000s, till this new iMac - they're not showing up as an output source in Sound Preference. I've contacted both Applecare Support - no idea - and Harman Kardon - Apple isn't supplying the drivers anymore. The thing is, they played just fine with the older iMac just replaced, which was running MacOS 10.7.2. Drivers are software, right? Were they just dropped from the OS with this last update, or is there a hardware issue? The older iMac was a 24", Intel, that I bought in April, 2007.Â
Anyway, this is very disappointing since the Soundsticks have excellent sound and still work. Is there a way to get the drivers, or is there also a hardware component?Â

I have the original Harman Kardon Soundsticks (USB connection) which have worked beautifully through every OS until 10.7; now my mini no longer recognizes them. I've tried the various remedies offered (unplug USB and/or power cables and reinsert) during the 10.6.8 occurence of the same issue (and I had no problem with that OS) to no avail.

After the disaster getting Quicken for Mac 2007 (or earlier) to sort-of work on Lion, has anyone checked if the Lion Compatible Quicken for Mac works on the new Mountain Lion operating system? Even though this isn't an Apple problem, I know I'm not the only person who would love to update to a new Mac; however, they all come with Mountain Lion, and many of us are terrified of losing financial data if there's another

I have a Macbook Pro 15" Intel Core i7 Mid 2010 model, I had upgraded from the App Store to OS X Lion and was running ok, but at the time had half the disk partitioned into Windows, so got to the stage that I didn't want Windows so wiped it, and backed up the OSX Partition as I figured why not have a nice fresh OSX Lion install. Since I've re-installed OSX Lion I now have no connectivity through the 2 USB Ports, or the SD Card as far as I can tell.
Since I'm a month out of the warranty I don't exist to Apple Support any more, so I've been trying everything I can think of or I can find. I've tried the PRAM and SMC resets which obviously don't work, I've tried the old 3+2 key trick. I have re-installed Lion 3 times, same deal. I've resorted to sticking a small Windows partition on at the moment to make sure it's not hardware issue, not sure what else I've tried? Took it apart, removed the battery for an hour or so, even tried booting with no battery - nothing.

I just upgraded my (first edition) Macbook Air to Lion. Unfortunately, I've found that two-fingered scrolling does not work in Mail and Safari (and probably other apps as well). When I try to scroll with two fingers, the cursor won't move at all. Other two-fingered gestures, such as zoom and pinch, work fine. I checked the system preferences under both Trackpad and Keyboard and didn't see anything useful.

I currently have a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8. It has 2.4GHz Intel Core Duo 2 & 8GB of DDR3 RAM. I want to upgrade to Lion, but I am worried that my Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium CS4 will not be compatiable with that version. Can anyone verified that this will work?

Recently I have not been able to send email using my Verizon outgoing server on the Lion email client. I can receive OK, but the server keeps rejecting something and a window pops up asking me to select a different SMTP server. Before I called Verizon, I decided to see if there were any free eMail clients I could use as a test and the new Eudora showed up when I did a "Bing" search.Â
I just installed Eudora and after a very quick setup, I sent a message using the Verizon server without any problem, the mail coming into both the Eudora and Lion mailboxes. So the problem is not with Lion, but with the Lion eMail client. I know Verizon does not officially support Macs, but since Eudora works, I have localized the issue to the standard Lion email client. Â
Anyone else have a similar experience with Verizon or some other ISP in not being able to send eMail?Â
First, Eudora is an answer. Second - I would like to resolve the problem with the Lion eMail client - it must be some obscure server setting. I know that it used to work, but I am not sure whether it was with Lion or Snow Leopard. Usually when I send an eMail, I use Cloud and was using MobileMe so I did not notice whether or not Verizon's SMTP server was working.
I noticed it today when I could not reply to an eMail that came in on one of my Verizon accounts. Â
Here is the Eudora [URL]..Click Mac Disk Image and voila! there you go.

I have a 2008 black macbook with 10.7.2 installed (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM). When I press caps lock, no green light turns on and letters remain in non-capital form. Even when I hold Caps lock for a few seconds, nothing happens. If I physically connect an apple keyboard via usb to my computer, caps lock doesn't work.Â

I told myself not to do it. Don't update the Safari software to 4.0, you know how they always mess up these things. And yet, per accident I did. Of course Safari 4.0 doesn't work. Every time I open it, it shuts down. iChat also doesn't work anymore, and even the Dashboard shuts down every now and then. In addition, the computer feels incredibly slow. I can't download rapidshare links on iGetter anymore and everything just feels wrong. Countless threads have been opened on this matter with a variety of different problems for different people. Yet I have not read a proper solution. I have seen all kinds of technical solutions being offered but I'm not a computer wiz and I do not know the terms they use. I just want to go back to Safari 3.2 or at least the one before the 4.0 But I read that deleting Safari 4 and reinstalling 3.2 won't work because of a certain webkit that got installed with it, making it impossible to go back.

My wife does not adapt well to change. She can't deal with the new Lion Finder GUI, the new Lion Mail GUI (yes, even with classic view), and trackpad settings. How do I get back the same functionality that was in Snow Leopard? Is their a Apple solution or even a third party solution? Â
BTW, I have adapted, but it *****, and I've had no problems with switching to new operating systems since Mac OS 6 ->.Â
