I'm using the macbook pro 2012 retina. The HDMI out to an external monitor works stopped working recently and only works if I'm connected when rebooting. This might have happened after a software update.

I have a one month old "late 2011 model" unibody Macbook Pro where the HDMI output just suddenly stopped working with no changes in configuration. I've tried resetting the PRAM and SMC, switched HDMI cables, cold rebooting everything, tried different HDMI ports, different resolutions on the TV and switched audio output settings, nothing works. When I plug the cable in the Mac switches resolutions, recognizes the TV in the Displays preference panel and correctly identifies it as a Toshiba, but doesn't send any audio or video signals to the TV.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a macbook pro from fall of 2007. So far it has worked perfectly and I've used it with an LG full hd LCD for about 1,5 years. I use a regular DVI - HDMI cable.About a month back it suddenly stopped working. The TV just tells me "No signal".I didn't change any settings or anything. The computer still recognizes when something is plugged in as the screen flicks blue and the displays icon in the menu bar lists the TV with correct model and resolution. And if I have spaces turned on it changes from 4 to 8 "screens".
I have tried everything from rebooting the computer to resetting P-RAM.
I got a new cable, no difference. However when I tried the TV with my friends MBP, it worked. So the problem is definetly in my computer, not in the TV or cable.My OS X is Version 10.5.8 Leopard.
What is the best way to connect two Dell DVI monitors I already have with my new 15" MBP (non-retina)?

i just got my 2012 Retina MBP and i absolutely love it. there's one problem though. wifi is EXTREMELY slow.
we have a campus-wide 802.11n network, all my other devices work flawlessly.
can i somehow force my MBP NOT to use the 5 GHz band but to stay at 2.4 GHz? I believe i somewhere read that this could fix the problem. ethernet via thunderbolt works as supposed.

I've been using my MacBook Pro 2012 Retina with an external monitor lately with the lid closed. Today I tried open the lid without having the external monitor connected and that worked fine for a few minutes. But then the screen got "scrambled".... It's hard to explain but it seems that some pixels are dragged vertically. See attached image. Doesn't seem to stop doing this. If I restart the computer it might look OK for a few seconds, but then it will start looking like this again. If I shut down the computer and wait a while until I turn it back on, it will stay OK longer, but will eventually start getting "scrambled" again.Â
Just as I was writing this question, using my external monitor, the scramble effect stopped and my MacBook screen returned to normal. Not sure how long it's going to last and I would still like to know more about this.Â
My MacBook is also really hot right above the F3-F7 keys.Â

I have a recently-purchased MBP Retina 15 inch from Mid 2012.Â
Every time that I put my laptop laptop to sleep while it is on battery, it sleeps fine for about an hour. After an hour or so, I hear the boot sound come from the laptop. When I open the screen at that point, the laptop is powered off. I have to power up the laptop. The laptop is not in hibernate mode, but has actually shut down (pressing other keys on the keyboard doesn't wake it up, I have to use the power button). Â
Applications start back up when I log in, however for example VMWare has rudely powered off (so I lose the state of my virtual machines), and any terminal programs that I was running (even if I just had a document open in 'vi') are also terminated.Â
I wonder, what causes this behavior? Is my system defective in some way, or is there an OS tweak in Mavericks to stop the computer from rudely powering off/force quitting all open apps in the process?Â
I've read that OS X now likes to hibernate laptops after an hour, but clearly hibernation isn't what's happening here.Â

It has worked for months on my old Mac but when I plug it into my new mac it doesn't even show up in finder or disk utility. I tried the USB ports with another device and they work fine. So it isn't a hard ware issue. The cables are USB 3.0. The external hard drive model number is HD2037N3.I have tried taking everything off (huge pain) and reformatting the drive and still it doesn't recognize it! how I can get my Mac to recognize it?

I have some issue with my 2012 Macbook Pro Retina. The screen intermittently decides to just not work. Sometimes on startup i hear the start up noise but the screen doesn't turn on. I am able to remote into the computer when the screen doesn't work. I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason as to when it works and when it doesn't. I've reset the PRAM and SMC sometimes that will bring the screen back sometimes not. Â

I have an LG W2442 24" external monitor that is capable of a resolution of 1920x1200. It is connected to my Macbook Pro with Retina using an HDMI cable and I am running Windows 7 & using Bootcamp. The laptop only recognizes a possible choice of 1920x1080 resolution instead of 1920x1200. How do I make it output the proper resolution?

When I plug in my TV to the new HDMI out port on the MBP +Retina, the screen turns blue (like it used to on my Mac Air), the resolution changes, but then when the sceen comes back I am at the login screen. Not only am I logged out, but all my apps that were open were crashed (not quit). Â

I installed 10.5.7 yesterday. Immediately after the installation was complete, my Apple bluetooth keyboard stopped working. Went into Bluetooth system settings, and it said that there was no bluetooth hardware found... (it's built into the machine!!)...
Also, every time I start iTunes, it gives some weird error about Adobe Flash player. I'm not at home now so I don't have the exact wording of the error with me, sorry...
I have a Dell UP2414Q connected via HDMI to my late 2013 15" retina MBP. The built in display is off (clamshell mode).
Sometimes, the display randomly blanks and the monitor reports no signal. This occurs continuosly for a few minutes and then the display goes back to normal. Sometimes I have to plug in/plug out the monitor to make it recover. /var/log/system.log shows no logs while these blinks occur.Â

My son has a number of shady apps. Torrents, etc. Can imbedded viruses cause keyboard flakiness?Â

I have a timemachine backup that is on a USB3 Toshiba 750 GB drive. Obviously ive been using it at USB2 speeds, and it works fine on other macs, but when I plug it into my retina MBP, the HD will spin at low speed, but it never fully loads. For those that know these toshibas, the light on it stays blue instead of turning white.Â
I have tried mounting it via diskutility, but to no avail. It has a fair number of things I need to transfer over!Â
It seems that there is some problems with USB 3 hard drives.I have a NewerTechnology Voyager Q.The drive mounts to the rMBP, but I recieve lots of errors when trying to access the content on it.

I purchased iStat menus for my MBP (no r) mid 2012 and it does not seem to work right. It seems to install ok without any messages popping up but once installed where I get the chosen options onto the menu bar I have a problem. When I click on say CPU or any of the others, a window shows the details but when I then click in that window, at the bottom on EDIT I get a message saying: Tried uninstalling iSta menus and reinstalling but no go.Â

View 14 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a base MBP-RD and can say that I am overall impressed with it, though I have found a couple issues already. One of them is related to the iSight camera which for some reason doesn't work. The camera appears in system profiler, but it shows as "camera not detected" when trying to launch application like iChat, Skype, FaceTime, etc. I already tried re-installing OSX Lion, and still not working.
I have also found some weird issue with graphics where it freezes a series of frames when going to Mission Control or App Expose.
I am returning this computer as there are other things I didn't like, but overall pretty impressive (no LED battery indicator, no Lock slot, no sleep light indicator...)
I have a new Macbook Pro, and currently have it connected to a 22" Insignia 1080p TV. The setup is a minidisplay to DVI adapter, and a DVI to HDMI cable plugged into the adapter and the TV. My trouble is that the TV is displaying a "No Signal" message now, after working perfectly fine this afternoon. Any hints or suggestions? I've tried rebooting, plugging in the cable before and after starting up the computer, and all HDMI ports on the TV. Again, I had the exact same setup this afternoon, and it worked beautifully, but now it refuses to.

The picture is perfect at 1600x1200, but when i select 1920x1080 it looks really bad, sorta like 16bit colors. When I use a vga cable it looks fine at 1920x1080.
