MacBook Pro :: Facebook Cannot Load On My Computer
May 23, 2012
Yesterday facebook just stopped working. I was on my timeline on my profile and it froze my internet and I managed to get off facebook. Since then, I have had a diffcult time getting on facebook on my computer (all other websites have worked so far). My profile has loaded on two other computers fine (one of those other computers was a mac). One of those computers uses firefox and the other safari. I have already tried removing my cookies and cache and looked up other suggestions online but none seem to work. When I remove my cookies, sometimes facebook will let me log in and then stop working again. It's not my profile (I never sign out) because other profiles have the same problem. When I removed my cache for the first time it worked nicely for like 30 seconds before it began not doing anything again.
I have no internet issues anywhere else, just cannot load facebook, gmail, or google search. This has been going on for a few weeks. NEVER had the problem before, and no other computers in the house have any issues at all, but this is our only apple.....
I've tried three different browsers (safari, firefox, chrome). Here is a copy-paste of the ping to facebook.
Ping has started Ping: cannot resolve [URL]: Unknown host
I've got no network software running in the background (other than dropbox), and I don't think I've set up a custom DNS. Not really sure how to check what it is. This is an on and off thing, sometimes facebook loads, sometimes it doesn't. Using computers connected to the same WiFi, I can freely access Facebook with no issues.
A couple of weeks ago facebook stopped loading on my mac. I thought it might be a virus or something, so I restored my mac and now use a different web browser (google chrome instead of safari). Facebook still doesn't load unless I delete my history, and even then it just opens the first page and then stops, and now Yahoo doesn't load either. The other computers & the iPad in my house load everything just fine, and when I took my computer to a friend's house, Facebook and Yahoo worked on their internet. Why is it just my computer that's unable to load these web pages on my specific home internet
Safari 5.0.6 won't load Facebook onto my Mac G5. It will load all other sites and if I log onto Facebook from another computer it works fine. Facebook has worked fine until about 5 days ago.
I have a eGo ITB 800 Firewire drive which has been running fine with Time Machine on my Leopard OSX 10.5 IMac. I just got a new IMac running Lion OSX 10.7.3 and want to migrate my files to the new machine. The new Lion IMac will not mount the drive. I updated the system software today, so it has the latest patches.
1. It appears under Devices in the Finder but Migration Assistant does not "see" it at all. Time Machine DOES recognize it as an Iomega HDD, though I have Time Machine turned off because I don't want to make a back up of the new machine until I transfer the files from the old one.
2. When I connect with Firewire 800, System Information will see a drive there, but it says "unknown device".
3, When I connect with USB, System Information will see the Iomega HDD there and report on it's specs. Â
4. I power cycled the drive to see if that would help and I got the warning that I should unmount drives first.Â
5. In the finder, I can see my old files on the Iomega.Â
6. I can't find any information on this one the Iomega web site, and they say that no software upgrades or drivers are necessary.
All of this implies to me that the disk is ok and the connections are ok. Does anyone know how can I get this drive mounted and working so I can transfer my files?
Facebook and Mapquest won't load. in browser, website is highlighted halfway and nothing shows up on page - like it is stuck. I already emptyed cache and reloaded page, also have restarted to no avail. I get other websites fine.
I have a 5-year old intel MacBook that I use strictly for browsing. In the last week or so, Facebook pages have taken forever to load. I have a 10mpbs internet connection (DSL) and all other pages load just tine on this computer. I have another Macbook with Snow Leopard (about 2 years old) and Facebook loads on it just fine. I've tried Safari and Firefox and I get the same results.

I just imported some new photos into iPhoto but when I try to copy them to a flashdrive it comes up with message The operation cant be completed because it isnt supported.Any other album pictures can be copied.for the life of me I can't work out what is different.
After 5.1.7 Update today, Safari loads facebook with broken compoents. I can't see my messages and many buttons don't load on facebook. Is there a way to install a clean copy of Safari?
Info: MacBook (13-inch Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.7.4), 4GB RAM
After updating to the newest version of Safari, Facebook no longer loads correctly. When loading the page it looks like this.I'm trying to figure out if this is happening for everyone or just me.
First Facebook stopped loading on my computer. Now Yahoo will not load. All other sites seem to load with no issues. I have tried all of the recommended items that I could find including but not limited to Empty Cache, Reset Safari, Cleaning cookies, Adding or changing DNS, clearing history.plist and everything else I could find in the communities. It seems that the pages I visit the most are the ones with issues. I should note that I have had some instances of Safari closing unexpectedly and times where I have had to use force quit.
I was recently using a PowerPC G4 with OS X 10.5 and recently upgraded to a Mac Mini with OS X 10.9. I want to restore my iTunes library from the old computer since it took a long time to get all the playlists together. I moved over the old playlist files and of course all my music, but I cannot get the library to show. I had to move my iTunes library into that "automatically add to iTunes" folder to get it to show in iTunes, but I still can't get the playlists and stuff to come up. I did the thing where I hold down the option key while starting up and then choose the library, but nothing changes in iTunes. It also seems like the file that might really be my library isn't selectable. So is there anyway that I can get my old library into the new iTunes on my new computer?
Whenever I start up my Computer, many applications load up also, especially Microsoft programs and I have to close them or it makes the desktop a mess.
Has anyone out there experienced this problem and/or have a fix for this?
a few days ago i installed a virus program on my mac computer i think it was called macaroni . but since then when i turn my computer on it loads up but not completely. the blue tooth application is stuck open and the suitcase will not open. also in the bar on the top of the screen the clock or nothing on the right side will appear and the computer freezes nothing will open?? your help would greatly be appreciated because i use my computer for college.thank you
Certain webistes like [URL], take ages to load after i login. I have cleaned my cache , deleted cookies,etc.... In the apple store everything works fine , but not at home. When using other PC's / notebooks it all works fine, except my own Macbook. Other browsers on my Mc , have the same problem.
Since last night, every time i try to connect to [URL] on my macbook the message "invalid URL" comes up and i can't reach my profile.
I thought it may have something to do with my internet provider but it works fine on my ipad...
I have tried with firefox, chrome and safari and all 3 come up with the same invalid message except that the reference starting with #9.54e0fc ends differently...
I have a problem where finder (under any condition even after a fresh restart) does not load the folder contents on my computer. Sometimes it loads after multiple restarts but somtimes it doesn't. I cannot browse through files anymore as nothing appears. Nothing also appears on terminal either. Here is a screenshot.
I have had my Macbook Pro since July 2011 and everything was going fine. Suddenly two days ago I started getting an error message when trying to access Facebook. [URL] can't be found". I did what it said on tghe "help" button....cleared caches, cleared cookies, erased history, checked my rpoxy settings (no clue what a proxy is, but when I changed it to "automatocally detect proxy settings" I could access facebook again.). For a few hours. It's lost to me again.Â
I had touched NOTHING in my settings before the problem occurred. I had never even clicked on settings before. My router is fine since my iPad, iPhone and my husband's Dell laptop have no trouble finding FB on the same wireless connection. By the same token, the macbook pro finds any other website just fine. What's up?Â
