What I'm trying to do is set up the apple tvs to be connected to a router that is not connected to the internet, which we'll call Router B.The Mac Mini has all the movies and TV Shows on the iTunes account is hardlined into another router that is connected to the internet, which we'll call Router A.Is it possible to have the Mac Mini hardlined into Router A (to have an internet connection) and simultaneously connected wirelessly to Router B (so the AppleTVs can pull from the Mac Mini iTunes.)?Or vice versa, hardlined into Router B (non internet connection) and Wireless to Router A (internet connection).

Is it possible for me to setup a wireless network/connection from my White Macbook to an Apple TV to share iTunes content WITHOUT a wireless router?
I'm house sitting for a month at Xmas, and they don't have internet in their place (they do, but its one of those wireless dongle things for a laptop)
Don't want Internet, i just want to be able to use my AppleTV i'm getting for xmas for all my media streaming without having to wait till i get my own place a few weeks later!
I have an Airport Express base station but its on a ship coming from London and wont arrive for a few more weeks
Till then looking for a simple (and free) solution
I have a 17 inch MBP OS X Leopard. I had no problems for two years of ownership until yesterday. I could not connect to my router and when I did and it said full bars I still can not go on a website. All it does is wait to connect. So then I noticed that my ethernet cable had the click in tab broken. I bought a new one everything worked fine my mbp and my IMac. Although when I did that it took my mbp a couple minutes to fully function again. About three hours later I had the same issue again. First it got slow, then nothing.
I would open airport it would show that its scanning and finds nothing. I try again, it finds my router connects but no internet. Then it came to the point where it finds my router and I try to connect but no bars show. My IMac works, my ipod touch wifi works, and so does my htc phone. So I am convinced that my mbp has a problem. Also, is it normal for the cd drive to be kind of sticky? I can put the cd in no problem, but when I eject, it sometimes doesn't sometimes only a bit of the cd comes out and I have to grab it and pull it out?
Do I need to have Airport to connect to internet with router d-link?

I'm looking into purchasing a new wireless router for our home. Basically used for basic Internet and video streaming. We are an apple family, No PC. Looked into the airport extreme but seems kinda pricey for what we need it for. Since we won't ever be gaming or running a server. Which wireless router do you use and how do you like it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Macs. I live ~200 yards from my Mom's house. I set her up with a b/g/n router. My Imac picks up the "n" signal just fine. My ps3, which only does b/g, gets no signal. I have an old linksys wrt54g wifi router. I tried plugging it into my imac and setting the imac to internet sharing through ethernet, but it didn't work. Stringing an ethernet cable isn't an option. Am I missing a step in the system preferences for internet sharing? Is there another way to get internet to the ps3? I would rather not buy any new equipment, but I'd spend up to $50.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI've a Macbook, PS3 and Linksys ADSL Gateway that can be put in Bridge Mode.Macbook is connected to the internet via 3G USB modem.I was able to tell Macbook to broadcast it's 3G internet connection via AirPort and use it from any other Machine, such as iPhone.
But the problem here, is that I want can't use it in my PS3, because it's the old 20GB model which doesn't have a wireless connectivity. So, I figured out that I might be able to tell Macbook, to share it's 3G internet connection with the Linksys ADSL gateway while it's out in Bridge Mode, and this gateway can send the internet connection to PS3, all using Ethernet cables, as follows:
Macbook --> Linksys ADSL gateway in Bridge Mode --> PS3
But I couldn't make it work.
This is what I've done so far:
1- I plugged the Ethernet cable from Mac to Linksys ADSL gateway
2- I put Linksys ADSL gateway in Bridge Mode
3- I plugged another Ethernet cable from Linksys ADSL gateway to PS3
4- I went to network preferences in Mac and choose the Manual settings
5- I gave the Mac the IP address: 192.168.1.101, Subnetmask: 255.255.255.0, Router: 192.168.1.1 and DNS: 192.168.1.1
6- I went to to PS3 wired settings and gave it IP: 192.168.1.102, same setting with other fields as Mac Ethernet
7- While testing the connection in PS3, the IP check went successfully, and the internet didn't
Note: I do not want to connect Mac to PS3 directly via a croseeover cable because I want to share the internet connection in mac with Xbox 360 as well, which also doesn't have a Wireless connectivity.
I brought my router from the city to my cottage and I wanted to get wireless, however, when I hooked it up to my modem, it didn't work. Is it possible to hook up any old router to a non-wireless internet connection?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Powerbook G4 from my school and the internet is sparatic but it is just at my house. I went to my friends house on Friday and it worked fine and at my school it does to. When I get home it either doesn't connect or goes from four bars to two bars. I have a Macbook and that works fine with the internet. I have tried re setting the router and nothing works. I have a Linksys router.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a Mac Pro and a Linksys Wireless N Router. I've got my cable modem hooked up at the moment directly to my Mac Pro. I was wondering if there was a way to share my internet connection on my other connection to the router? In other words, internet comes into the Mac Pro, shares with the wireless router, which broadcasts it to a third computer.
So I have a wireless router from cox cable (motorola surfboard SBV5220). I also have my airport extreme base station connected to the wired ethernet in the other half of my house. So I have the cox motorola router hard wired to the ethernet in-wall outlets. And When I plug my computer directly into the ethernet plug in the walls it works great and fast. So I have the airport extreme plugged into the ethernet port in the wall to use wireless on the other half of the house that the motorola router doesn't reach very well.
Everything worked great until the motorola router went out one day and we had to reset it. Once we reset it, the wireless internet from the airport extreme started acting up. Half the time it works fine and just as fast as it did before. The other half it doesn't load a full page. It's not even working at all really. I tried to see if the problem happens when using the internet from the motorola router, but it wasn't consistent. Sometimes the airport internet worked fine while the motorola was in use on another computer and sometimes it didn't. I haven't been able to figure out a consistent cause.
I also had the airport express plugged in as a wireless extended for the airport extreme, but I took that out as it was pretty unnecessary. Also, I got a new mac mini and need to run it off the airport extreme wireless also. When I turn off the mac mini and use my macbook with airport extreme the problem still persists.
I tried google-ing and then searching on this forum and got many unrelated topics. I would really appreciate anybody pointing me in the right direction. I am a semi-newb when it comes to networking, etc...
I've had this used laptop since last August, and up until last month the internet was super awesome and fast and lovely. Then, I'm alnost positive, the last update was like some big Adobe THING, and it seemed like soon after that my Airport connection was very low (like 1 or 2 out of 4 bars are full) in comparison to before, and my internet refused to load anything.
After googling around, I have:
-Updated the firmware on my wireless router (Linksys wrt54gs)
-Gone into my network settings and changed my dns servers to the OpenDNS.com ones, and also to the 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 ones.
-completely restarted my router
-changed the password on my router just in case someone was stealing my wireless connection?
None of these things have made any change. I have to click the reload button about 50 times, (no joke) in order for a page to at least halfway load and it's just ridiculous. Anyway, I'm not sure what is wrong or if I need a new router, but my desktop PC works fine (internet-wise) and my brother has a Gateway laptop that is running Windows XP that he also says suddenly got slow internet performance right around the time mine did. I'm running OSX tiger 10.4.2 (heh, i'm pretty sure)
I Have a linksys Wireless-G router (Model WRT54G) that's already hooked up to one PC & I'd like to hook my new Mac Pro to it. Is it possible?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago I got a DrayTek Vigor 2910VG router. The thing's a dream in terms of features (VoIP, Dual WAN, USB port, etc.), but WLAN has been a complete headache. After a fresh restart of my iMac (see my sig for the computers on my home network, all of which are affected by this problem), I can usually connect to the WPA/WPA2-encrypted WLAN. Then, for reasons I can't determine, I will lose all access to the Internet and to other computers on the local network.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just moved and have had to switch ISPs. I have DSL service and the only modem option my ISP provides is an all-in-one modem/Wi-Fi router. I have an AirPort Extreme that I would like to use, but with this setup, unfortunately, I have to put it behind the modem/router.
I've used the AirPort Extreme both wirelessly and via Ethernet, and it is noticeably slow in connecting to Web sites. My browser often gets stuck on "Looking up [URL]" or "Connecting to [URL]" when it's plugged into the AE via Ethernet. When I plug directly into the DSL modem/router, sites are connected to and loaded immediately. The problem only exists when plugged into the AE. (Strangely, speed tests show that the AE downloads at nearly the same speed as the DSL modem/router, but this doesn't account for the noticeable delay in connecting to and the initial loading of Web pages).
I've owned a Netgear and a D-Link route before and with those, you could access all your router settings and statuses over the internet. The Login would usuallly be the ip address and the password would be one of your choice. I can't seem to find any settings to enable this on my Airport Extreme.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I have been having issues loading internet content. When I try to load almost any website, my internet browser acts like it is searching for my wireless router and can't find it. However, when I use my PSP to connect to the internet from the same spot, it works perfectly fine. The PSP usually says there is a 70% connection, which is better than it has ever been. My router and laptop are on the same floor only a room away.
I have other people in my house that share the router: 6 computers; 4 are laptops that are used more often than the 2 desktops, 4 iPod Touches; 2 of which are never used. I had everyone turn off Bluetooth on all devices since none of us use that feature and that didn't help all.
I honestly don't know what the problem is, but if I had to make a guess, it would be all of the things that our devices can connect to with AirPort. There is Motorola, 2WIRE017, 2WIRE160, 2WIRE417, 2WIRE730, MartinWirelessRouter, NorzWireless, NETGEAR, schooly, and stackdaddy. I think all of these wireless connections are disrupting one another, which is what I thought was causing the problem. The only one I ever care to connect to is Motorola, so is there a way to prevent my computer from even recognizing anything else?
When I connect my iMac directly to my cable modem (no router) I get fast speed. But when I connect my laptop through my Linksys WRT54G v5 router the speed drops to about 20-40 kbps.
What is causing this dramatic drop in speed?
WAP Personal security
MAC filtering enabled: Yes
Channel 6
DHCP Enabled: Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled: Yes
What kind of configuration could help me to get fast speed? I am newbie so don't know to make deep configuratons!
Imac and iphone lost internet connectivity via Linksys wireless router. Ehternet works fine. Keep getting note about "self-assigned" ip. Ideas? I have tried everything I have found and read.

I just recently got Verizon Fios internet. I am having a problem with making the router they supplied my default router.I am not trying to piggy back or connect additional routers. I just want to use the Fios router.Prior to Fios, I had Time Warner and i used my own router and as soon as I opened up my macbook, it would immediately find that router as my default. Now, with Fios, when i open my "Airport" icon at the top on my screen, it NEVER choses my Fios router as my default, making me change to it every time i want to use my internet after opening up my computer.

Would I see a huge difference? I am running my Macbook off it and an olde Toshiba laptop.
