Will cancelling a migration and then restarting it destroy what has already been migrated?

Just bought a new Macbook and everything's great except the screensaver facility. I'm primarily using the one that previews album covers from itunes, but it doesn't really matter which one I use. They all cancel themselves after a few seconds as though the trackpad's been activated, even though I'm nowhere near it.
I've obviously tried restarting to see if it makes a difference and it usually does for about an hour. The screensaver comes on and stays on. But I'll do some work and check it again later by activating a hot corner and it quits again after a few seconds like before.
This is hardly the end of the world, but it is pretty annoying. Anybody else had this happen on Snow Leopard and is there a way to fix it?
Can someone tell me how I can Quit Sarari? The option to quit is not highlighted and will not let me log out of Safari

Running a scan with ClamXav identified and quarantined trojans one of which was (FLV_Media_Player.exe).The DVDs in question will still show the identifying titles but will not play the programs, instead stating that the content is now in unrecognised format.MY internal and external DVD players will still run other of my DVDs.Is the trojan likely to be the cause? Can the damaged DVDs infect other playing systems? Can the damaged DVDs be recovered?

Is it bad for Macs to leave them on a long time when you're not using it?
My nephew once told me he puts his PC off when he goes to school for example, because it would be better for his pc.
Does this count for...
- My PowerBook, running on cable (not battery, whatever)?
- My (to buy) 24'' iMac?
Reason is I sometimes want to leave my stuff on to upload or download stuff...
Maybe the delayed shipping for the HD4780 is good karma. After hearing about the GTX 285 for MP for June release, I think I'm going to cancel my order. I'm in no rush and would love to see some reviews before deciding again.
NO idea how this is happening but when i try to shut down computer various apps are refusing to let Mac (imac 2.8ghz running 10.56) shut down, including quick time and firefox. Even though they are not actually open. When I go to force quite menu there are no 'not responding' apps there.

I got a MacBook Air a few months ago and finally got around to migrating data from my MacBook Pro. I am seriously not happy with the results (all I really wanted was to move my iTunes and a limited few apps, and it seems that I got nothing that I wanted). I used a Time Machine backup from an external HD for the migration. Is there any way to undo the migration?

I'm new to mac. Used migration assistant to transfer my data files and folders from windows 7 system. The files are there as I can search for a specific file and find it but I don't see any of the folders or files in finder. I have reviewed other forum entries asking questions like this and answers seem to direct folks to another user account but I don't have another user account on this system after migrating.

So last night I migrated my old back-up to my new MacBook Pro, but this morning my new machine doesn't recognize my old back-up. I'd rather not erase and back-up from scratch for numerous reasons (losing the old data, time, etc).

I have just been looking at the presentation video "Advance in Core Images" from WDC: URL....What I have just realised, is that although images, folder structure and metadata can be migrated from Aperture to Photo - Images adjustments very likely cannot be migrated - Apple are changing the underlying mechanism by which image adjustments are being made and the stage in image processing where they are being made. For example, even if both tools have a "Brightness" adjustment, the effect of a 14% change in brightness may well be different.
Also, the set of editing adjustments in Photo will different than Aperture - even if you could migrate some adjustments - what would be the value of migrating some adjustments, but not all?In an Aperture to Lightroom migration metadata and folder structure information can be retained, original and final images can be retained, but the sticking point for may is that the adjustments and the reversibility of those adjustments cannot be retained. You cannot say, I want the same image, but with a little less sharpening and no noise reduction. It will be no different in the Aperture to Photo migration.
When I put in the original OEM leopard discs that came with my new macbook, the computer just keeps restarting. Any ideas? I thought these were recovery discs?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy MBP has been freezing over the past few weeks. When the computer freezes, the mouse gets hypersensitive, then it will be unresponsive to everything. The screen then goes black. One of three things then happen. One, I manually shut the computer down by holding the power button. Two, same as one except I get a Kernel Panic text file on my desktop when it loads back up (this only has happened once), or three, the computer restarts itself. It once from while I was playing Call of Duty 4, and once right after I had quit it. However, I had SMC fan set high whenever I play it, my computer is on a cooling stand and there's an desktop fan right next to it blowing over and under it. Could overheating still be a problem?
My MBP is late 2008 refurb, 2.53ghz, 9600 w/ 512 vram, 5400 rmp hard drive, 4gb Apple ram. Freezing has happened under both 9600 and 9400 cards.
The 9600 and hard drive have both been replaced by Apple in the past few months due to other freezing issues (the 9600 was defective, but when it froze I would get screen artifacts and the mouse would still move neither of those things happen now).
Ive just bought the new Mac book Pro 15" that was released a couple of weeks ago and it suddenly freezes and the restarts, it's done this four times, ive only had it for a week.
