I have a rather weird problem with my MacBook Pro Retina late 2012. You see, I can connect to Wi-Fi. However, I can't surf the web on Safari or Mozilla. It's like the internet is blocked.

I'm trying to use my Wi-Fi to surf the internet and the Ethernet to log to my LAN Network. Both networks have access to the inernet through different ISP's and both have Wi-Fi modems. I set up the Wi-Fi as my preferred network followed by the Ehternet connection. That way I can surf the web through the ISP that I want and I can see the other computers on the LAN Network. However, when I try to use any of the Network printers of log to the server I can't connect. Can anyone tell me if I have to set up the connections in any particular way? I'm using Mac OS X Lion on a Macbook Pro 13". The server controlling the LAN is a Windows Server 2008 R2.Â

I have moved to a new place and I was able to connect my imac and mobile devices to the internet via WIFI but not my macbook pro. I have tried all the suggestions I have seen here but didn't work. Such as: turning off and on the airport, restarting the router, renewing DHCP lease, entering all ip data manually, deleting the network and putting it back, etc.

I am going to be spending some time with a family member and they do not have internet or a computer - what is the easiest and cheapest way for me to be able to use the internet on my MacBook Air at their house? Just recently I have not been about to surf the internet using Safari when I'm in a wireless area.
It just says Safari cannot find the server. However if I use Firefox it is just fine.
Before I didn't seem to have any problems. Just started yesterday. At home it startd.
Then been using wireless at the airport and now hotel. Can't use Safari.
I just reconfigured my adsl2+ wifi router and after that wifi gets connected and I can access the router but I am not able to connect to the internet .

I have the 13" Macbook Pro mid 2012 model and for some reason the wifi status bar would show full strength however when I open up Chrome or Safari the webpages won't load at all. I'll get a message saying something like "can't connect to Internet." I first thought it was my modem but all the lights are lit up and it shows I do have an Internet connection. I get the same problem with my ipod touch 4g as well. Only on the ipod's side it will try and connect but fails to do so at all. So I have two devices that fail to connect despite an existing Internet connection.

I notice when hard wired I get settings of.
IP: 192.168.2.10
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
When not Wired I get
IP: 169.254.209.184
Subnet: 255.255.0.0
(I renewed DHCP lease and get the same)
(I entered all the IP and Subnet manually (same as wired settings) but it still would not connect.
I also tried re-install os X, as well as resetting my modem and setting my home network back up.
My macbook connects to my wifi connection which is secured without any issues. However it wont let me connect to the internet. I keep getting a message on the airport icon that has an exclamation point on it that says "no internet connection available." Also, when I open up the network settings under the airport settings, it says self assigned ip address can not connect to internet. I have no idea what is going on because all of my other computers and xbox is connecting to the internet just fine. I already tried to restart the router and the modem and I also emptied the cache on the macbook. I tried to call Comcast but they were not very helpful.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAt my uni campus they have wifi everywhere, but when you connect to it (which my mac does automatically) you have to go in through a login page before you can use it. How can i get it to login once it connects to the wifi (i do use other wifi connections which dont require login). There is no wifi password (just the login page). Other than for ease of use, the other reason i am doing this is because i am setting up my cam to take pictures of a thief if my mac were to be stolen (then upload to ftp). The more auto connected internet - the better.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I installed a legit version of Little Snitch on my iMac. The program and the internet worked fine but the pop ups were just too annoying. I uninstalled Little Snitch using the uninstaller that came with the program, restarted my computer and then my internet was crippled. I could access the internet through Firefox and safari but all other programs were unable to access the internet, including a shell script that I embeded on my Desktop and Azures. After trying everything I could think of, including restarting and looking for /System/Library/Extensions/LittleSnitch.kext I re-installed Little Snitch and all my programs work fine. Any way to get rid of Little Snitch while keeping my internet working?

I have a pretty old Titanium Mac Book that runs OS 10.3.9. It's a moderately slow machine, but still works- and although I realize that it won't be able to stream video or anything, I figure it would work for email, and basic web browsing- But I'm wondering if it's going to be compatible with any new products such as a USB wifi antenna - because the room where I want to use it won't alow for an ethernet connection-  Also, will the old 10.3.9 OS allow me to connect wifi to the newer airport extreme base stations?Â

I'm running OSX 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro, and today I've been unable to connect to the internet via ethernet or wi-fi, unless I'm in safe mode. Then everything seems to work as it should, which makes me believe that this is a software issue rather than a hardware problem. I've tried making a new account with administrator priveleges, but that doesn't solve my issue. Does anyone have any advice on how I can connect to the internet under my normal user account, rather than in safe mode? I should note that I won't be able to get my hands on my repair CD or perform a clean install of OSX because that stuff is at home, and I'm in college. Also, I'm at a university and don't have a router. I just use the campus-wide wi-fi. Finally, my roommate has no problem accessing the internet in our room via ethernet or wi-fi, but I do. Other devices will still connect to the wifi with no problem and I connect through the ethernet connection with no problem. I have disabled the wifi and restarted my computer with no luck.

I have a macbook a little over a year old. It's my first mac and I love it. Yesterday though it started acting really weird. I first noticed that it was really, really hot and the fan was running. I turned it off and back on and here's what I found out:
Applications are being deleted from macbook. ITunes, IPhoto, iChat have clear question marks over icon. There are 8-10 blank spaces in the Applications folder where applications have been deleted. However, data is still there (ex. pictures still there, but no iPhoto).
Internet= Says I have internet but wont connect.
Cannot open " System Preferences" or "Internet Preferences".
If connected to home computer will connect to internet and allowed to open internet preferences but still no system preferences.
If shut down....takes a while to come back on and starts up 2-3 times.
Also "Preview" is gone. Now " ColorSync Utility" opens.
Is this my hard drive dying? I'm tech challenged, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
My roommates MacBook pro will not connect to the Internet. It says that it is via network preferences, it even has a green light and says connected, yet It can't browse via safari (Can't even send emails or use iTunes store). He's recently come back from home where he's been using his family's router fine so, i'm thinking it's a problem with the ip and that. My pc and iPad are working fine with the router.

I have a blackbook (intel core 2 duo) and I can connect to my landlord's wireless network (they have a netgear wgt624) but I can't actually use the web (Safari or Firefox will just "think"). I've tested the diagnostics and it confirms that my mac can connect to the network, but it cannot connect to the internet. The network uses WPA personal and it has a 19-aphanumeric passphrase.
*Also - would it be possible for me to extend the wireless range (and make it possible to browse the web) if I used my own 2wire wireless modem to connect to the netgear wgt624?

And it can connect to networks and other computers wirelessly to exchange files, but not to connect to the internet through them. It backs up to my Time Capsule wirelessly without a hitch. This seems like a software problem, not a hardware problem, to me. Why I can't get internet access wirelessly?
