My camcorder is stuck, flashing USB symbol. Can't find my computer's Safety Hardware function to end the connection and disconnect the USB cable before using the camcorder.

I've recently replaced my video card because the previous one had problems displaying garbled videos on screen.
However, when I took it back from the repair, and start booting up my computer, i hear the chime and it shows me flashing globe symbol as it's booting up. (when it's supposed to show me the apple symbol).
I'm selling my old iMac and while cleaning the hard drive it froze. I forced shut down and when I turned it back on a circle with a diagonal came up initially, followed by flashes of that, a question mark and the apple symbol. Now it won't get past the grey screen and the flashing symbols.

Every 5 to 10 minutes, my MBA "seems" to disconnect from the internet, although according to my Mac, it's still connected and shows my current IP address. I know it's not my router (Dlink DIR-624) because everything else stays connected. I don't have a problem with my Dell laptop, AirPort Express (used only to stream iTunes to my home theater), iPod Touch or either of my iPhones. The problem only occurs with the MBA.
Renewing my DHCP Lease fixes the problem for a couple minutes, but then I lose connection again.
I have four external drives connected to my MBP: One USB 2.0 drive, and three that are connected via FireWire 800 (they are connected "in line", i.e. one is connected to the MBP, the second one is connected to the first one, and the third one is connected to the second one).For several months already, I experience the following anomaly:When an external drive hasn't been used for a while it normally goes into sleep mode and the otherwise turning disks come to a standstill. The problem, however, starts when I want to use the data of one of the "sleeping" drives (e.g. by opening the Finder): Then one or more other drives, that are also in sleep mode, but used to come back into "active" mode in the past, are suddenly disconnected. MAC OS X then displays the message that a disk has been disconnected without being formally ejected (via the dustbin). This is not normal, of course, and I am afraid that this behaviour could harm the disks health and live time.I have tried the Disk Utility Tool of OS X for all the drives mentioned, but they seem to be ok.

Putting her MacBook Pro/Maverick to sleep works fine, but when she raises the lid the Wifi connection is broken, and cannot be acquired unless she reboots. Does a switch exist for this anywhere?

However, I've been told that with Mac you can directly connect/disconnect the cables without any previous confirmation from the system. I'm confused, since I can not find how to get confirmation form the MAc that it is safe to disconnect the USB/FW.

All of a sudden, it disappears from the desktop with an error message about improper devise removal. I've checked the cables: everything is like it should be. After restart all drives are back at the desktop. But it keeps happening fsck didn't help. I'm running DiskWarrior right now. What could it be? Both drives are quite new Seagate 7200.10, I think... Not older than 1 year.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting (all networks), although they continue to be available on my iPhone, Mac Book Air (OS X Lion 10.7.3) and another PC. I have to reselect the network manually in the shortcut (top right of the screen), a few seconds later I am connected again. The problems seems to be related to inactivety on the iMac. For example if you are reading some pages, without any key strokes or mouse activity, but there does not seem to be any specific time for repeatability of the problem. It is just anoying. I recently bought a late 08 aluminum macbook and have been quite happy with it but from quite some time I've noticed that while I'm on internet and on adium (where I noticed the most) the signal goes off for a couple of seconds and then it comes back. First i thought it was ok but it's been happening really often and is quite annoying since it happens several times a day and only happens to me and not anyone on my network (everyone else has pc`s and are also on wifi). So I wanted to ask.. is it possible my Airport card is failing? or is my router the one failing.

I have an airport extreme and two 1TB hard drives connect to it through a USB hub.
Every night, I have a program that copies one of the hard drives on to the other. This has worked for the first year that I had the setup.
Recently, when copying, the mounted hard drives will disconnect and I will loose my internet connection. When this happens, the green light on my airport extreme turns to yellow and starts flashing- is it is restarting.
This also occurs if I manually try to copy a large batch of files.
I'm usually decent at debugging computer issues, but this one has me stumped.
I've had an WD My book 500 GB external for about as long as I've had my macbook about 1 1/2 years. No trouble with it at all, until yesterday. At some point either the power got cut or the cable was pulled out incorrectly it got disconnected from the mac. Thus resulting in it not mounting now. I've tried disk repair and shutting down the macbook and restarting...plugging in after everything is started. but to no avail. I am a photographer and about 25% of my photographs I don't have backed up anywhere else. So if I can't get it to work. I need some way to get the information off and reformat. or get it working correctly.

I have had a mac book for about a year now. My husband and I are expecting a little girl in about 2 weeks and are looking to purchase our first camcorder. I know that with a mac and wanting to use imovie and idvd you cant just go out and get any ole camera I am not really computer savvy and we are really just looking for something to capture the birth and special moments nothing professional. Don't get me wrong I want the best quality that I can get... just cant pay an arm and a leg.
I really want something user friendly that is very compatible with imovie and idvd where I can just plug it in and it works... you know I dont want to have to do anything complicated to make it work!! I have been researching and it is so confusing b/c the list that apple gives you apparently does not hold much weight seeing as though there are cameras on there that DONT work with macs. our price point is under 400$ hope someone can help oh and do you know if being an HD camera, if you have to film in either all SD or all HD to transfer the footage? and What is the point in having a HD camera if after u transfer the footage and edit it then burn it to a DVD and it will be in SD.

I have been very busy the past 2 days, transferring pictures, documents, etc. from my pc to my mac. I have now gotten to begin transferring videos. I had several videos on my old pc that transferred just fine, but I also had several videos on the camcorder from a recent trip to Chicago. When I connect the camcorder to my Macbook via USB cable, the files are not transferable. I can't even play them. They all end in either MOI or MOD. Can anyone give me advice on what to do? I have already tried transferring them to my old pc, and then from there to my macbook, but that isn't working for some reason.

I am just surfing the Internet and up shows up on the screen a white chain symbol on the screen. It looks almost like a infinity symbol. It shows up for a few seconds then it disappears.
My wife was typing up a document for her University and it showed to her first. This was two days ago. I think this is the first time that this has ever happened to us.
