View 2 RepliesI'm in a corporate environment and trying to setup messenger for mac 7 to work with our Microsoft OCS client. When I try to log in I get a message that says "sign in to Microsoft Messenger failed because the service is not available or you may not be connected to the Internet". I know I'm connected to the Internet. Is there anyway to pull up a list of services to verify that this service is not running?
My Apple version is OS X 10.5.2 and I should add that I am fairly new to MAC's.
Now I know that a lot of people have had this problem in the past but I'm hoping that maybe someone will have a solution now that actually fixes this problem. When I attempt to sign in I get the error message "Sign in to Microsoft Messenger failed because the service is not responding. The service is not available or you may not be connected to the internet."
I've tried deleting every trace of msn and reinstalling it, Which did not work. I've also tried upgrading to msn 8 beta (Which incidentally crashes when I try to open it) and downgrading to 6.0.3. Neither of these fixed the problem. I've tried resetting my router, which had no effect. I've tried disabling proxies but it turns out I don't have any so that's not the problem. I've looked at the firewall but msn is not blocked.
Other clients such as amsn and adium are not experiencing the same problem. Msn is working fine on my macbook and other windows machines in my household. It is just my Imac that seems to be having the problem.I have scoured the internet and nothing I have found has been of any use.
I want to easily transfer docs, files, etc, from my iMac to my Macbook.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy company uses a network drive attached to our router. I can connect to the drive fine, but only after a fresh reboot. If I turn on off the MBP or hibernate it, when it boots back up it tells me it can't find the network drive. Trying to reconnect to the network or turning airport on and off doesn't work. I have a mac mini that i never shut off that never loses connection, only the laptops.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've done this many times in the past.
The phone and the mac connected ok via bluetooth, and I inputted the code that comes up on the screen. After which the the connection 'failed'.
I then tried another mobile phone, and the connection failed on that too. The thing is I've used both phones before to transfer files to the Mac Pro.
I have tried to find a service repair manual on the web for the MacBook Pro, but to no avail.
Where can I find this document; IBM's website has all these docs, but to my knowledge apple does not.
Second, do any of you know of an outlet repair person that sells MacBook Pro service parts (i.e. for those of us without warranty....)
Now that mobile me is gone where can I publish my iweb info?? I am use to have a web address with mobile me?

My MacBook Pro shows that Bluetooth is available and appears to scan for devises. I have tried both a headset and a keyboard, in discoverable mode, but it never finds them. I know both these devices work and I pair the headset to my iphone all the time.

Ater charging it the other day I noticed a "service battery" error which went away the next. I checked the power section in the System Utilities and I noticed that my battery has shifted from "Good" to "normal" and I'm now at 469 cycles which I do not understand I also notice a very quiet humming-- I'm not sure if I'm just being paranoid and searching for problems or if there's a correlation amongst the issues. I've let the battery wear it self down and shut down and sit for a few hours and fully charge which has helped, but now it only holds charge for about 3-4 hours or so, opposed to the 5 hours I got when I initially bought it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy bluetooth is suddenly "unavailable" on my MBP. I cannot find any settings for it in system preferences and it just basically died. When I look it up on "about my Mac" is says it's "not found." Can no longer use my mouse, or connect my Bose wireless speaker (which I just purchased!).

So after upgrading to a mbp as my main machine, I retired my old imac to the bedroom for media center duty. I've got things close to how I want them with front row and plex doing most of the dirty work. For my planned use, no keyboard or mouse are needed. A combo of the apple remote and snatch on my itouch are doing quite well. The problem is, if I turn the machine off, it sees no mouse or keyboard over usb, and attempts to find them over bluetooth. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this? I've tried just turning bluetooth off before shutdown, but this doesn't seem to solve it. This is REALLY annoying, as I'd prefer to keep the machine off more often rather than having is sleep all the time.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a new iMac in November 2013 which has a wireless keyboard and mouse, which worked well but won't connect since OS was updated. I've looked in System Preferences and there is no symbol for Blutooth. In System Report / Blutooth it says 'No Information Found'. It's strange because the keyboard and mouse worked fine up to downloading and installing the update (to OSX 10.9.3.) How I can get the Blutooth up and running again?

I have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard that I want to share between a PC and MBP via a DVI/USB KVM switch. I think I can do this by plugging a USB Bluetooth dongle into the KVM's USB input.
If I use the MBP's built-in bluetooth then when I switch from one computer to the other via the KVM, the keyboard and mouse will stay paired with the MBP; but if I disable the built-in hardware then the dongle can provide the bluetooth capability and be switched between the computers.
I've got a MacBook Pro 15" Early 2011 and I see unknown bluetooth devices under Bluetooth in System Preferences.
I never used Bluetooth on my MacBook but these devices appear.

This isn't directly related to macbooks but if I want to use the bluetooth built into my computer to connect to my non bluetooth printer can I buy any USB bluetooth dongle to plug into the printer ( Kodak all in one 5300) or do I need some specific kind? All the ones I look at don't mention anything about printers just connection between computers and phones.

I recently received an iMac as a "gift"... turns out it has some problems. I am unable to reinstall the default OS (Mountain Lion) because I have yet to be able to partition the HDD correctly. The error I keep getting is: Partition failed with the error: Wiping volume data to prevent future accidental probing failed. At this point, the default Macintosh HD isn't showing, so it must of been erased/deleted.

So how do I remove bluetooth devices from my bluetooth file transfer list? I have a few extra phones in there that I no longer use.

Hey guys..>I'm trying to set up my jabra bt200 bluetooth headset to work with my mac (osx 10.4.2, 15" powerbook 1.67ghz)...and I can get it to pair, but it won't stay connected for more than a split second. this is a problem i've seen a few people have, looking around on various forums and stuff, and i was trying various solutions when i decided to try doing a firmware upgrade on the internal bluetooth module. I downloaded the firmware updater (1.2), tried to run it and it came up with the following error:
"This computer does not have an Apple Bluetooth module installed. It cannot be updated by this application."
Why would my Powerbook not have an Apple Bluetooth module?!?!?! It's got bluetooth installed, it's internal, but looking at the system profile, it says it's the manufacturer is Cambridge Silicon Radio. So is this normal or what? Is the firmware upgrade even going to help me out in the end? Just to clarify...the powerbook came with bt installed factory...it's not something added by me!
