I have the rev. C Air, recently bought. It works fine but I have noticed that when I tilt the screen back almost all of the way that the front left side lifts slightly off the desk. I can see that the front left pad is not touching the desk. Is this an idiosyncrasy of the computer? Do others have the same symptom? Of course once I place my hands on the computer and start typing it's not really a problem, but I can certainly feel it click down to the desk or if I lift my hands off and slightly push down there is a space there. I think it is a weight issue, because once I pull the screen slightly towards me the space disappears as well as the issue.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI was thinking, for the next generation MacBook Air, would you want a slightly thicker (thickest part is 0.9in, tinnest is ~0.35in) laptop with a built in Superdrive, more ports, etc, or would you perfer that Apple moves away from this with a thinner computer (0.1in thinnest, 0.6in thickest), but with same limited ports.
I would actually perfer thicker with a superdrive, since I want an air but I want it to be like a MacBook but thinner. What do you think? Btw, this is assuming the regular MacBook does not change in size, since that would sway peoples opinions.
I have had a PowerBook G4 for approximately 3.5 years, and the top left hand corner of the screen has become slightly faded.

I have checked the sound balance on my sound setting and its set to balance. Some things I have noticed when playing with the settings. When i shift the balance to the left, there's sound on the right when it's not supposed to. Then when I shift to the right, the left speaker is quiet. This problem seems to happened on older Macbooks - [URL].

The distance is the thickness of a piece of paper. So small it is barely noticeable when looked at, but you can feel a slight difference when you rub your finger over the edge. Should I be concerned about this? I would take pictures of it, but the Macro mode on my camera isn't good enough to properly show this issue. Go Figure... Will this affect hard shell cases? I've also learned something. People that are O.C.D. really have a hard time enjoying their Macs. Seems like we spend more time scrutinizing every square inch of our equipment that we actually spend enjoying it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just turned on my mid 2009 13in Macbook Pro and noticed my display seems about 4 'clicks' dimmer than before. Everything else works fine. Can LED screens dim over time? Could my LED driver somehow have caused the screen to dim? Can just the LED portion of my display be replaced?

I'm the owner of a Macbook Pro with 4 gig RAM and a 320gb harddrive. However, I have noticed that the hard drive space is decreasing slightly for seemingly no reason. Case in point, today it went from 197.66gb to 197.50 whilst I was watching TV and just before it went down further for no reason whatsoever.
Although its not a big deal it does arouse my curiosity and annoy me. Is it just virtual memory that will eventually come back or something more sinister? If it continues for a long time the space lost will eventually add up. Since I'm planning on soon buying an iMac these are the sorts of things I need to know.
The glowing Apple Logo behind the screen seems to be glowing a slight purple colour, but mainly white. Is this normal due to the screen being so thin?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly recent 17" MBP and I've discovered today that the headphone socket is a bit looser than I'm used to. My usual headphones click in as usual, but very little effort is required to pull them out. I have recently been using a client's cable to hook my MBP up to their speakers, and I have a feeling that the 3.5mm jack (which was a fairly tight fit) has somehow worn the socket.
Is it possible that using a slightly 'fatter' jack can damage a socket like that? I'm a bit wary of people plugging their cables into my laptop now, as I don't want to exacerbate the problem! Anyone else experienced this?
I just got a MacBook Pro, and the button being part of the trackpads touch area is cusing me problems. Freuently when I go to click the button it moves the cursor slightly causing the click to be in the wrong place.
Is there a way to turn off the lower area of the trackpad or something? Can I replace it with a trackpad with a seperate button?

Hope you can help out here. Been having a few problems reading DVDs ( slightly funny sound when spinning then spits them out ) - although it would read some OK, such as System disk.I out in a DVD just now, and it pulled it in, but then nothing - no spinup at all.And now I can't eject it - tried the eject button, logging out and back in again, restarting while holding down the trackpad button.Nothing worksAny ideas?Macbook Pro 2.8
View 20 Replies View RelatedI've recently bought the stock 17" MBP and am loving it! However just a quick question to all those who have used it. I have noticed that when I pick it up, the bottom panel underneath sort of bends slightly when my fingers press against it. It feels like the alu is bending slightly only in certain places on the base. I may just be another paranoid mac freak but has anyone else found this? I had an old 15" MBP and didn't have any similar issues with that. Loving the computer tho, the screen is fantastic!
View 9 Replies View RelatedYesterday I have noticed slight change of colors on my iMac 27 inch monitor. The change was really subtle but newer the less important. I'm an illustrator and I use subtle textures and brushes in my work. Yesterday suddenly, those textures were not subtle on some pictures on my web site but really noticeable. Especially on black on black textures (when you have different shades of black/gray). I thought that the mistake is coming from Safari browser, but the same thing was visible on the Chrome too and when I opened same pictures like jpeg with Preview or Photoshop. After that I noticed that generally all display was slightly brighter, slightly more bluish. I didn't do anything unusual to make it that way. Today, after putting iMac to sleep and turn it up again the colors are like they used to be and it seems that problem is solved. I would like to know what went wrong with the display/monitor, because I have worked all day yesterday on my illustrations with wrong display of colors and now I will have to correct them today.I have run Profile first aid with ColorSinc but result was that everything was ok, no problem find.

This is going to date you all a lot but I have a powermac g3 (640mb ram, 300mhz) with a 15" apple crt monitor. I moved it into a new room and all of a sudden the display is virbrating slightly. If I switch the refresh rate back to 60 it goes away but then that looks so bad that I have to bump it back up to 70hz. Is there any settings that I can change to fix this vibrating? Like I said, this didn't happen until I moved the computer 20 feet into a neighboring room.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI calibrated my MacBook Pro battery and then noticed that the battery life seemed slightly shorter after that. I calibrated it according to this: [URL]
Just wondering if I have done anything wrong...
One more question... What do they mean by "At this point, save your work. Continue to use your computer; when the battery gets very low, the computer will automatically go to sleep." Does it mean that I have to use the computer until it just shuts down or should I shut it down once the "Low Battery" warning pops up?

I created my website with iWeb 1.1.2 & have had absolutely no issues with it from running Tiger right through to Snow Leopard (10.6.2) which I am running at present. However, in the past couple of days, I have noticed a few strange issues with a few of the images...they appear to be slightly out of focus...not only on photographs but also on parts of my website whereby I have added text & these are then saved as PNG files. I haven't changed any preferences whatsoever & everything appears as it should within iWeb itself.
The issue is only occurring once I have published to a folder. I've emptied the Cache in my Browser but the issue is still there. I've added a link below to an image which shows the problem I am having. The top & bottom appear as it should however the centre appears very soft. It doesn't appear like this within iWeb, only once I publish the files. [URL] Would it be worth deleting the preference file for iWeb, & then relaunching the application?
I am a brand new Mac user. I have just purchased a MacBook Pro and need advice as to the best way to use my external hard drive with iTunes.I have read previous answers regarding the above question, however I do not currently have any music on my new iTunes and it is already all on my external hard drive. Does this mean I need to complete a slightly different process? Also what must I do when I load new music on to my external?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dual 2GHz PowerPC with the stock video card (ATI Radeon 9600 Pro) and have had a Dell 2405FPW monitor connected to it via DVI cable and it has worked flawlessly for a couple of years... until this week.
Now the image seems to be "off" by about one or two pixels. Just a bit blurry here and there and when I move the mouse across the screen, the entire screen image seems to shift a little bit.
I've tried power cycling, re-connecting the cable, unplugging everything, resetting the monitor settings in the control panel, factory-reset of the LCD settings..

I am planning to buy the base new 15" MBP. I am going to use it for graphic and web design work along with doing other stuff like browsing, email, music, watching movies, etc. The programs I plan to use are:
- Adobe CS4/5 (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Flash)
- Coda + Transmit
- iMovie and GarageBand (slight movie and sound editing, nothing too large)
- Windows XP under Parallels Desktop for testing pages on IE
I am also planning on getting the 24" ACD to hook it to the MBP. This will also be my main and only computer.
Would the base model be enough for this? I currently have an 20" iMac Intel Core 2ghz and while it feels kinda slow when working on comps and large files in Photoshop it pulls through, so I am thinking that the base new 15" MBP would very much smoke my current iMac.
I'm considering buying the MBAir 13" - I'm a graphic designer and was wondering if it'll be able to handle programs such as Photoshop and InDesign? I'll probably have two of Adobe's programs open at once as well as my web browser, I'm worried that it'll lag the laptop. I'd get the MBP but I bring my laptop with me in between classes and it's pretty heavy.
EDIT: just to clarify, I already have a 15" MBP but I had to get it fixed a few weeks back and it hasn't been the same since. It's laggy and I have to restart it a lot, every once in a while it even turns it self off without warning. I thought I'd rather spend more money on a new one rather than getting it fixed again.
My friend recently argued with me about how stupid I was being about selling my Dell XPS for a less featured MacBook. His standing argument was that Apple gets away with murder - and by that he was arguing that they manage to sell hardware that is subpar by todays standards (hd space, cpu and graphic cards) that you could always find considerably cheaper laptops with good builds with much more impressive hardware and features. The argument over just the OS was starting to haunt me. I knew this before I had decided to return to OSX...but, egh...I guess it would be nice for Apple to deliver offerings that are more common place on the hardware side of things...

I'm a graphic designer looking for a new home office computer. I work in print media mainly, using CS5 (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign), and have been considering the Macbook Pro 13" for its combination of performance and portability; a 24" monitor will be connected to the MBP. I could go for the Macbook Pro 15" for better performance but I really like the portability factor. So my true question is: Is the Macbook Pro 13" suitable for this type of work?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking at buying either a MBA 1.86 SSD, or a MBP. Given the new graphics card in the MBA I was wondering if the following apps work well?
- GIMP / Photoshop (very basic stuff done on them. Image size is usually A4)
- Parallel / XP pro
- AutoCAD (in Parallel. Again just basic stuff)
- iMovie (edit together short films of my daughter)
I use other packages, but I know they will be fine. This will be a secondary machine to my pc so I will only use it on holiday or when I go to meetings.
Just today the dock, dashboard, and dragging files made it look like a graphic glitch, it seems it may be the graphic card. I'm posting a pic to see what you guys think.
