MacBook :: Fix Stuck Pixels On 13" In Aluminum
Jul 29, 2009I have two stuck pixels (red ones, right?) on my MacBook and they are really clear. How can I fix them? Can Apple replace my display?

MacBook Pro :: Difference Between DEAD Pixels And STUCK Pixels?
May 14, 2010So after waiting 4 weeks my High-res Glossy MBP FINALLY arrived...I was so happy. Got home switched it on and WOW it really is a beautiful machine...After using it for about 30 mins however i noticed a small dot to the lower right half of the screen... I looked closer and realized it was either a dead or stuck pixel( I dont exactly know the difference). I did a few test on it, and its ONLY visible when a light color is on the screen (White, Gray etc) However when the screen is DARK blue, Dark green or black it cant be seen at all...
It kind of looks like a TINY speck of water or liquid the size of 1 pixel stuck under the glass... I noticed that it does get lighter and darker when i adjust the brightness of the screen. Can anybody give me some tips? Anything i can do to fix it? Is it in fact a dead or a stuck pixel? I tried the JSscreen fix which is basically a online tool that opens up a flashing screen...Ive had it on for about 30 mins...but no luck
MacBook :: Repair Screen 6 Stuck Pixels?
Jul 5, 2009the screen has about 6 stuck pixels! 2 are big and the others are quite small. The notebook is covered under AppleCare until 2011. So if i take it to the Apple reseller near me, will they repair it???(they helped me out with my Mac mini before)

Apr 2, 2008if any of you have any stuck or dead pixels on your machines? I have a blue one and it's sh*tting me up the wall. I tried everything, the website that just flashses all the different colours, the damp cloth and then tapping it trick... turning it of and on and applying pressure, all of them to no avail. Anyone else have any pixel issues? Also when looking at my MBA from the side when the screen is closed there is quite a big gap between the keyboard (bottom half) and screen (top half) it's closed and tight towards the thin end, but towards the bigger end the gap gets quite large, about 4-5mm...should i put a book on it or something to try and flatten it out?

Jun 22, 2010My ock is on auto-hide and when it hides, it leaves a few pixels. Some times there are a lot of them, sometimes there are only a few. See attached picture. I don't know what's causing them, but it's bugging me.

Apr 4, 2010I bought an 21.5" iMac a while back, and today I noticed it has 3 dead or stuck pixels, I know there is a difference between the two but either way I cannot get it to come back to life.. and basically I'm a bit pissed now =/.. I would go to the apple store but the problem is there is not one here locally.. However there is a Apple guy at my local Futureshop.. could he handle this type of thing? (I didn't buy it at futureshop btw).. I want a replacement if its possible, switched from a PC and payed quite a bit more for this lower end iMac.. I basically downgraded, and I can't stand that it has 3 dead/stuck pixels..

Jan 13, 2010First off, I have a 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with 1GB of memory. I just upgraded to Snow Leopard from Tiger. I was able to complete the upgrade with relative ease, but my screen now has a complete vertical line of dead pixels running down the right side of my screen. I don't understand how installing Snow Leopard would cause dead pixels!?

Mar 29, 2010I just confirmed it myself. I had a myriad of colorful "blobs" all over my iSight. I only noticed them really when I put my hand over the iSight so the image was BLACK. But, like the patch notes said, this update fixes them! They are ALL GONE. So for people complaining about stuck/dead pixels etc with your iSight, update to 10.6.3! I'm guessing the update maps them out, somehow. Very cool stuff.

Until today, the area looked just like blurry pixels (some things like graphics would still appear, so I don't believe the problem is with the pixels themselves). Dec 9, 2014My Macbook is currently stuck booting up in windows 7. My shift key also appears to be stuck so holding the Option key when booting up to choose a start up disk isn't an option (it doesn't work). I do not currently have access to an external keyboard. I do have the startup disk. I'm wondering if I can use the startup disk to reset the systems startup disk? Are there other options?

Jun 17, 2009Tomorrow morning the brand new MBP 13 2.53 goes back to Apple for yet another dead pixel issue! The Staff in my local store are so, so helpful and are always there to help, but this will be my 4th pixel related return. It's a mighty fine machine but I'm beginning to feel like "that guy" who always takes his macs back!

Aug 24, 2009I recently noticed 4-5 dead pixels (gray, not fixable with software) on my 1.5 year old MBP (see sig below). Definitely a bummer as I had to go through 2 MBPs when buying this computer just to get one without any dead pixels. I don't know why or when these pixels died. I have AppleCare and I am wondering if Apple will do anything about this. Is there a threshold for repairs (e.g., only 10+ pixels is repairable)? Has anyone ever got a repair/replacement for dead pixels? Is there anything I can myself to fix this problem?

The retailer has a zero dead pixel guarantee on monitors so I'm going to hope that covers laptops too. Oct 18, 2008It seems one of the defect possibilities of the new manufacturing process is that the new Macbooks or Macbook Pros can get dust trapped behind the glass screen. At least, that's what happened to my Macbook. So they let me return it, and I got a Macbook Pro, and now the new Macbook Pro, though a thing of beauty, has a bright dead pixel in the top middle screen, as well as a dimmer dead pixel 2 inches to the left of that one. I heard that Apple's dead pixel policy was three dead pixels or no deal on an exchange, but I just bought the computer a few hours ago. Do you think I have a shot at them replacing it? I hate to think of staring at this, (bright) dead pixel for three years, (not to mention the other dimmer dead pixel).

This is a MacBook Pro pre-unibody The graphic card is an ATI Radeon X1600 I ran the TechTool Deluxe tool to test the video RAM (and everything else), but it didn't detect anything wrong I have never seen this when the laptop is connected to an external monitor This doesn't happen that often; say 1 times out of 10, usually after the laptop comes out from sleep. The issue stays for a few minutes and then goes away until next time, so I am unlikely to have the problem when I go to Apple Store for service.
MacBook Pro :: Purple And Green Pixels On Display
Jun 30, 2014So I have this collection of pixels near the bottom of my screen but they're only visible over a dark grey area, like when you're in the login screen (I have an early 2013 MBPr 15 btw)
It's probably a problem with the screen itself and not the GPU (or maybe the connection between them?) since if I take a screenshot it's not visible and I've connected it to an external monitor and it doesn't have it.

I've had this for a few weeks now and I've tried those youtube videos (I just to have some image retention after leaving something to run for a long time) which have decreased the amount of pixels. They all dissapeared for a few hours and now they're back.

1. Is it normal for my screen to have this many dead pixels after only a week of having it? (I bought it brand new from the store.)

Aug 25, 2014I have a late 2008 version of the 17" MacBook Pro. I've been using it today and it's been completely fine. that was up until I was uploading my recent holiday photos to iPhoto. I left it to upload and came to check on it after 5 minutes. I found the program had frozen and pink and green pixels were spotted all over the screen.
I turned the laptop off by the power button. When I started her up again I found the white screen with the pink and green pixels everywhere and apple logo appear. It starting booting and then just stopped. the screen froze and nothing was working. I've tried booting up in safe mode and again it just freezes. I've included a photo I've taken if the frozen screen.

Jul 17, 2009i am working on my website, and notice a few "stars" on the screen. I thought maybe it was my desktop image, as it is the standard leopard galaxy deal. I verified it was my screen. Will Apple even do anything about this, or will they say it is just cosmetic? I took in my MBP (i bought it 10/08, it is the version before the UMBP) to the genius before because the screen has some lines in it, but they said it caused by the keyboard hitting the screen and they wont fix it because it is cosmetic. I think they should fix it, but at this point, it isn't the biggest deal, but now that i spotted it, i can see it everytime i am on a dark screen/page

Aug 27, 2014I have an early 2008 version of the 17" MacBook Pro. During the process of uploading photos to iPhoto, the screen froze and pink and green pixels appeared. I shut down by the off button and upon on turning it back on found the screen as shown below. The apple appears and then the clock spins for a moment then freezes. I cannot get any further.
I've tried booting in Safe Mode and other options I've read when trying to boot but to no avail.
Someone said I need to run the AHT but as this was purchased from a friend, I don't have the installation CD's. I've found a DMG file of the AHT but am completely at a loss as to what to do with this.

Sep 3, 2008Towards the lower right hand side of my monitor there is a series of pixels that are dimmer than all the rest. It forms basically a backwards J. It is most obvious when there is a white background (like on this site). Is this something that would be covered with Apple Care?
